This research is first to analyze an electomygram reaction of the lower limbs among the muscles used during a back-round kicking of Taekwondo, second to analyze the relationship between the muscles of the kicking limb and those of the supporting limb, third to compare EMG activity of expert with novice. Measured muscles are as follows; rectus fermoris which control flexion and stretching of femora and knee joints, vastus medialis and vastus lateralis, which control flexion and stretching of legs, and biceps fermoris, which control stretching of femora, bending of knee joints and abduction of the crus. The electomygram reaction of all these selected muscles were analyzed. Three kicks were performed, and electomygram of each of kicks were measured. Then, electomygram reaction of the best kick was used for electomygram analysis.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of three functional performance tests and one-legged hop test and to establish the reference data of the three functional performance tests of the active young Korean men. Materials and methods: We performed five tests on 40 normal subjects such as one-legged hop test (single hop, triple hop) and the three functional performance tests (carioca test, co-contraction test, shuttle run test). The mean age was 28.4 years. The mean score of Tegner activity scale was 6.2 and Lysholm score 98.2 Mean value and standard deviation were obtained. The correlation of age, height and weight with the results, the relationship between FPT and one-legged hop test and the mean difference between dominant and non-dominant limbs were statistically calculated. Results: All data obtained were normally distributed and there were no significant relationship between age, height and weight. The paired t-test of one legged hop test showed no statistical significance between dominant and non-dominant limbs. The results of one legged hop test had strong relationship with functional performance test. Conclusion; The three functional performance tests can be a useful functional test in ACL-insufficient athletes. Our results can be used as normal reference data of the normal active Korean men.

Purpose: This study aims at evaluating our results with a 5-year follow up of arthroscopic pull-out suture repair of posterior root tear of the medial meniscus. Materials and Methods: This study enrolled 30 cases who underwent a arthroscopic pull-out suture repair to treat the posterior root tear of the medial meniscus from January 2001 to May 2005 and followed up at least 5 years. The average follow-up period was 76 months (range, 60-90 months). Clinical results by use of the Lysholm knee score and radiographic grade by use of the Kellgren-Lawrence classification were evaluated and second-look arthroscopy was done in all cases. The clinical results were compared with trauma history, obesity, varus deformity and time to operation. Results: At the last follow up, the Lysholm knee score improved from 55 points to 86 points. For the radiological results, 23 cases displayed maintenance or improvement of the medial joint space on the follow up X-ray, but 7 cases displayed decrease of the medial joint space, and 1 case was lately performed total knee replacement due to progressive osteoarthritic change. Conclusion: Arthroscopic pull-out suture repair has a good result at 27 cases (90%) in minimum 5 years follow-up. The clinical improvement was significantly reduced in more severe varus angle.

Purpose To compare the MR findings of septic and acute gouty arthritis of the knee joint. Materials and Methods This retrospective study included patients who underwent knee MRI for septic or gouty arthritis at our hospital between October 2012 and October 2018. The MR findings were analyzed for the presence of bone marrow edema, soft tissue edema, abscess, pattern of synovial thickening (frondlike, lamellated, diffuse linear), maximum thickness of the synovium, and joint effusion volume. The gouty (n = 5) and septic arthritis (n = 10) groups were compared using the Wilcoxon rank-sum test and Fisher's exact test. Results No statistically significant differences were observed for each item. One patient in the gouty arthritis group and seven in the septic arthritis group had bone marrow edema. Soft tissue abscess formation was only observed in the septic group. The incidence of each synovial thickening pattern was as follows: 100% (diffuse linear) in the gouty arthritis group and 20% (frondlike), 50% (lamellated), and 30% (diffuse linear) in the septic arthritis group. Conclusion Differentiation of gouty arthritis and septic arthritis based on imaging findings is difficult. However, lamellated synovial thickening patterns, bone marrow edema, and soft tissue abscess formation are more commonly observed in patients with septic arthritis than in those with gouty arthritis.
Purpose: We describe a new and simple technique for arthroscopic fixation of tibial intercondylar eminence avulsion fracture using bioabsorbable pins in skeletally immature patients. Operative Technique: Diagnostic knee arthroscopy is performed using anterolateral and anteromedial portals. Fracture debris and blood clot are debrided to expose the injured site well. The fragment is reduced with the probe and fixed temporarily with a 1.1-mm diameter K-wire that is inserted percutaneously from the anterosuperior aspect of the knee joint. The drill guide is introduced into the joint and the fragment is secured by bioabsorbable, poly-p-dioxanone 1.3-mm pins inserted from different angles. The pins are 40 mm in length. The knee is placed in a long leg cast in extension for 4 weeks to assure that full extension is obtained. Conclusion: Arthroscopic fixation of an tibial intercondylar eminence avulsion fracture using bioabsorbable pins is not a technically demanding, suitable method that ensures fracture healing and restores the stability of the joint.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between medial joint space on Rosenberg view and the degree of ultrasonographic medial meniscal extrusion. Materials and Methods: Three hundred ninety knees with medial joint tenderness examined by ultrasonography were reviewed between January 2009 and May 2010. Medial joint space was divided into Grade I (${\geq}$ 4 mm), Grade II (3~4 mm), Grade III (2~3 mm), Grade IV (1~2 mm) and Grade V (0~1 mm). Then sonographaphic mid-medial extrusion of the medial meniscus was measured in each patient. After dividing into Group A that didn't have large osteophytes (${\geq}$ 3 mm, medial joint at tibia) and Group B that had them, the correlation between the medial joint space and medial meniscal extrusion were analyzed in each group. One-way ANOVA & Scheffe test on the SAS program were used for the statistical analysis (p<0.05). Results: There was a positive correlation between grade of the joint space and medial meniscal extrusion in Group A, but there was no positive correlation in Group B (p<0.05). Conclusion: To the patients who didn't have advanced osteoarthritis, the narrowing of the medial joint space was one of the predictive factors for mid-medial extrusion of the medial meniscus.
The study has a goal that produces abundant documents that needed for athletes to teach and progress skills by analyzing 3-dimensional action analysis of C-difficulties Ring jump included in body original elements among techniques constructing Rhythmic Sport Gymnastics. 1. It was the longest applied time delay that E-3 indicates 0.409${\pm}$0.017sec in each event applied time delay. 2. It was the tallest height that E-3 indicates 88.5${\pm}$1.3% in displacement of body's center. 3. It was the fastest velocity in E-2 where the velocity of left foot is 732.4${\pm}$46.1cm/sec, the velocity of right foot is 1958.4${\pm}$25.1cm/sec. 4. the lowest angle was founded at 97.8 degree in the E-3 on the trunk extension angle. 5. The lowest angle of both sides were seen at 92.8${\pm}$14.9degree and 69.2${\pm}$5.7degree in the E-3 on the each displacement of knee joint. 6. The highest angle of both sides were seen at 171.3${\pm}$6.9degree and 167.9${\pm}$8.4degree in the E-3 on the each displacement of ankle joint As a result of these studies, by jumping with ankle joint extension to accomplish the Ring jump action, it is considered to have the time of flexiblity and staying in the air which we can see in a back.
Purpose : The purpose is to analyze the relationship between bone bruise in MRI and associated injuries after the knee joint trauma. Materials and Methods : Total 50 cases were reviewed, divided into two groups according to initial trauma energy. High-energy group (group I), such as traffic accident was 13 cases, low-energy group (group II), such as sports trauma was 37 cases. The type of the lesion was used the classification by Costa-Paz. The site of lesion was analyzed according to femoral/tibial, medial/lateral and anterior/middle/posterior site respectively. Associated injuries were confirmed by physical examination, radiograph, MRI and arthroscopy. Results : In group I there was a various distribution of the bone bruise in the knee joint according to mechanism of injury. The bone bruise with ACL injury was 38$\%$ only and the most frequent type was Costa-Paz type I (52.6 $\%$). In group II more frequent locations were the middle portion of the lateral femoral condyle and the posterior portion of the lateral tibial condyle. Bone bruise associated with ACL injury, was upto 56.8 $\%$ and the frequent type were Costa-Paz type II (48 $\%$), in order type I (42 $\%$). As a result, in the high-energy injury the bone bruise had a various location in both condyle and less frequently associated injury, but in the low-energy injury there was particularly frequent location of bone bruise, associated injury and type. Conclusions : We could assess the associated injury by analysis of the location and type of bone bruise, especially in the low-energy injury, e.g. sports injury. But further study will be necessary with more case analysis.

We investigated the effects of oyster shell extract (OSE) on papain-induced osteoarthritis in C57BL/6J mice. Osteoarthritis was induced in mice by a papain injection into the knee joint. The mice were divided into a total of five groups (n=8). The normal group was untreated, whereas the papain group (negative control) was induced with osteoarthritis and treated with water daily. The papain+DS group (positive control) was treated with diclofenac sodium. Papain+OSE groups were treated with OSE concentrations of 100 and 200 mg/kg/bw for 20 days. Proteoglycan content in articular cartilage was analyzed through safranine-O fast green staining and H&E staining. The histopathological changes in cartilage were measured by the Rudolphi score approach. The contents of tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$ (TNF-${\alpha}$), interleukin (IL)-$1{\beta}$, and IL-6 in plasma were analyzed by the ELISA method. After experiments, body weights of the treated groups were not significantly different compared with the normal group. Cartilage loss and joint instability significantly improved in a dose-dependent manner in the OSE-treated group compared with the papain group (P<0.05). Proteoglycan content was significantly higher in the OSE-treated group than the papain group (P<0.05). Osteoarthritis scores of the OSE-treated group were significantly decreased compared with the papain group (P<0.05). TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-$1{\beta}$, and IL-6 content in the plasma of the papain+OSE treated groups significantly decreased in a dose-dependent manner compared with the papain group (P<0.05). These results suggest that OSE treatment might have anti-arthritic effects on papain-induced osteoarthritis in C57BL/6J mice.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data, such as exerting muscle power of the lower-extremity, EMG test and pressure distribution for designing ergonomic workstation in sitting posture. The exerting muscle power of the lower-extremity was measured by PRIMUS in 4 postures of 90$^{\circ}$, 120$^{\circ}$, 150$^{\circ}$ and 180$^{\circ}$. And performed ANOVA test on Max. and Mean 100%MVC. In EMG test for surveying muscle mobiligation, 5 muscles(Rectus Femoris, Vastus Lateralis, Gastrocnemius, Soleus, Tibialis Anterior) were employed. Additional experiment in pressure distribution in sitting posture by Pliance(16$\time$16 poles), Max. pressure was measured and performed ANOVA test on the results. Concludingly, sitting posture with 120$^{\circ}$ lower-extremity is the best design criterion for ergonomic workstation in sitting posture.
