  • A SIM card socket is used for a cell phone to fix an USIM card and a push-push mechanism is typically employed in the SIM card socket for a user convenience. A SIM card is inserted with locking when a user pushes the card once and a SIM card is removed with unlocking when a user pushes the card again. A push-push mechanism is operated by a heart-cam structure and a main spring. A cam slider and a cam stick consisting a push-push mechanism may be broken because of the main spring. So, dynamic stress at a cam slider and a cam stick which is generated by a main spring during operating should be analyzed and considered in the push-push mechanism design. In this paper, a flexible multibody model of a push-push mechanism was developed to analyze dynamic stress at a cam slider and a cam stick.

  • In this paper, a 3D shell-spring model that can perform time history analysis of buried pipelines is used to evaluate the effect of the incident direction of the earthquake motion. When applying harmonic motions, it is shown that the period of vibration has pronounced influence on the response of buried pipelines. With decrease in the period, the curvature of the pipeline and corresponding response are shown to increase. To evaluate the effect of the incident angle, the motions are applied in the direction of the pipleline, horizontal, and vertical planes. When the motion is applied parallel to the direction of the pipeline, it only induces bending strains and therefore, the response is the lowest. Under motions subjected in horizontal and vertical planes at an angle of $45^{\circ}$ from the longitudinal axis of the buried pipeline, the axial deformation is shown to contribute greatly to the response of the pipelines. When imposing two-components simultaneously, the calculated response is similar to the case where only single-component is imposed. It is because one component only induces bending strain, resulting in very small increase in the response. The trend of the response is shown to be quite similar for recorded motions. Therefore, it is concluded that use of a single-component is sufficient for estimation of the longitudinal response of buried pipelines.

  • After towing rope connecting a barge to a tug was subdivided into multiple finite elements, then those dynamic models was established using Newton's second law and considering the external force and moment such as tension, drag, Coriolis force, gravity, buoyancy, and impact due to free surface acting on each element. While the previous research on the model of towing rope considered only translation, five-degree-of-freedom equations of motion except roll based on the body-fixed frame were established in this paper. All elements are connected by a spring and a damper, and the stiffness of the spring was set as the equivalent value of the real rope. In order to confirm the established multiple finite element model, various scenarios such as freely falling of towing rope in the air and above the free surface, accelerating of a tug which tows a barge connected by towing rope, and sinusoidal moving of a tug were set up and simulated. As the results, the trajectories of the tug, the barge, and the towing rope showed good tendencies to the ones of real expected situations.

  • This paper utilizing model picture of finished clothes in fashion design field various material (textile fabrics) doing Draping directly can invent new design, and do not produce direction sample or poetic theme width and confirm clothes work to simulation. Also, construct database about model and material image and embodied system that can confirm Mapping result by real time. And propose clothes simulation system to dress to 3D human body model of imagination because using several cloth pieces first by process to do so that can do simulation dressing abstracted poetic theme width to 3D model here. Proposed system creates 3D model who put clothes by physical simulation that do fetters to mass-spring model after read 3D human body model file and 2D foundation pattern file. System of this treatise examines collision between triangle that compose human body model for realistic simulation and triangle that compose clothes and achieved reaction processing. Because number of triangle to compose human body is very much, this collision examination and reaction processing need much times. To solve this problem, treatise that see could create realistic picture by method to diminish collision public prosecutor and reaction processing number, and could dress clothes to imagination human body model within water plant taking advantage of Octree space sharing techniques.

  • To improve the energy efficiency and ride quality of an electric vehicle, it is highly desirable to develop a lightweight suspension system with high travel ratio. Air suspension systems with a rubber tube are often considered optimal for such requirements. In this study, a new lightweight air suspension system with high travel ratio was developed for use in electric vehicles. Furthermore, an FE-based multi-flexible-body dynamics (MFBD) model of the suspension system was developed as a tool for improving the design of an actual suspension system. The MFBD model includes the FE modeling of the rubber tube module as well as other essential parts of the air suspension system. The system parameters for the model were obtained from various experiments. The validity of the developed MFBD model was shown through a comparison between the experimental results and the simulation results.

  • In this study we establish a process to predict hardening behavior considering the Bauschinger effect for zircaloy-4 sheets. When a metal is compressed after tension in forming, the yield strength decreases. For this reason, the Bauschinger effect should be considered in FE simulations of spring-back. We suggested a suitable specimen size and a method for determining the optimum tightening torque for simple shear tests. Shear stress-strain curves are obtained for five materials. We developed a method to convert the shear load-displacement curve to the effective stress-strain curve with FEA. We simulated the simple shear forward/reverse test using the combined isotropic/kinematic hardening model. We also investigated the change of the load-displacement curve by varying the hardening coefficients. We determined the hardening coefficients so that they follow the hardening behavior of zircaloy-4 in experiments.

  • The DDAM(Dynamic Design Analysis Method) has been the most popular method for the shock response analysis of naval shipboard equipment. It was common to model the equipment as a simplified mass-spring system with multi degree of freedom in DDAM. Nowadays, however, it is necessary to adopt the finite element method for the shock response analysis due to the complexity of equipment. In this study, the DDAM program is developed to evaluate the performance of shock-resistance of FEM models using MSC/NASTRAN DMAP(Direct Matrix Abstraction Program) which provides the practical tools in interfacing with the externally developed program. Through the numerical test of the structural components and comparison with the results of ANSYS DDAM, it is confirmed that the developed program can be applicable to analyze the shock responses of the shipboard equipments.

  • Joints, fasteners or connected parts frequently have a significant effect on the dynamical behavior of assembled mechanical structures. Therefore, the analytical prediction of structural responses depends on the accuracy of joint modeling. This paper deals with the formulation and analysis of dynamic mechanism for joint flexibilities whose relevant magnitudes of stiffnesses are investigated by using linear and torsional springs. The equation of motion is derived by using a generic joint in the middle of clamped-clamped beam. A reanalysis due to changes in magnitudes of joint stiffnesses is based on the reduced analysis where the binomial series terms are used as basis vectors. The solution procedures are straightforward and the method can be readily used with a general finite element method. The computational effort needed by this approach is usually much smaller than the effort needed for complete vibration analysis. Two numerical examples show that accurate results are obtained efficiently by reducing the number of degree in the reduced model.

  • In this study, the femur, the tibia, the articular cartilage and the menisci are three dimensionally reconstructed using MR images of healthy knee joint in full extension of 26-year-old male. Three dimensional finite element model of the knee joint is fabricated on the reconstructed model. Also, the FE models of ligaments and tendons are attached on the biologically suitable position of the FE model. Bones, articular cartilages and menisci are considered as homogeneous, isotropic and linear elastic materials, and ligaments and tendons are modeled as truss element and nonlinear elastic springs. The numerical results show the contact pressure and the von Mises stress distribution in the soft tissues such as articular cartilages and menisci which can be regarded as important parameters to estimate the failure of the tissues and the pain of the patients.

  • In this study, a comparison model considering the stochastic characteristics of the load and member resistance of the shield tunnel segment lining as well as the variability of the boundary condition was selected and reliability analysis was performed, and the adequacy of the limit state design was analyzed by calculating the probability of failure and reviewing the structural safety. For the analysis considering the probability characteristics of these ground constants, the ground spring coefficient was considered as the mean value by calculating the quantitative value by applying the Muirwood formula, and the coefficient of variation was selected based on the existing research data to review the models according to the change of ground boundary conditions. Through the structural analysis of these models and the reliability analysis using MCS technique, the failure probability and reliability index were calculated to examine the changes in the failure probability due to changes in ground boundary conditions.
