  • This study was performed to get basic information about properties of high blaine cement for shotcrete use. Particle size distribution, setting time and compressive strength test, analysis like as SEM, DSC thermal analysis, XRD was carried out to investigate principle properties of high blaine cement. Setting time of high blaine cement was shorter and compressive strength was higher than those of ordinary portland cement (OPC). Results of analysis showed early hydration products of high blaine cement is smaller and spread widely due to increased specific surface. From the SEM observation and analysis of DSC and XRD results, it was seen that the aluminates accelerators promoted calcium aluminium hydrates while the alkali free accelerators increased ettringite and monosulfates formation. Strength and setting time measurement of cement paste with aluminate accelerator is more effective than the alkali free accelerator in reducing the setting time and increasing early strength while alkali free accelerator is more effective in increasing the strength after 7 days.

  • Salt is a major component in salt-fermented shrimp with 25% content. There are various types of salts that have different compositions, which may affect the quality of salt-fermented shrimp. We have investigated effects of various salts such as Korean solar salt (KSS), purified salt (PS), sea-concentrated salt (SCS), glasswort (Salicornia herbacea L.) spray solar salt (GSS), glasswort-sea-concentrated salt (GSCS) and spray-dried salt (SDS) on the physicochemical and sensory properties of fermented shrimps. Ammonia nitrogen content of the salted shrimp prepared with SDS was lower than others until 60 day fermentation. At 90 day fermentation, amino nitrogen contents of salted shrimps prepared with GSCS and GSS (980 mg%) were higher than those of the others while sample prepared with SDS showed the lowest amino nitrogen content (680 mg%). Volatile basic nitrogen content of salted shrimp prepared with SDS was also lower than those of the others between 14 and 60 day fermentation and there were differences among samples in the contents of trimethylamine at 180 day fermentation. Sensory evaluation results indicated significant differences in salty, overall taste and overall acceptance among samples. Overall acceptance was significantly higher in salt-fermented shrimp prepared with KSS, SCS, GSS, GSCS and SDS than in fermented shrimp with PS.

  • In this study, reduced graphene oxide/polyaniline composite was fabricated tomaximize their advantages with electrochemical performances and use as a electrodematerial for supercapcaitor. Polyaniline as an electrode material was synthesized bychemical polymerization of aniline monomer and reduced graphene oxide wasintroduced to prepare composite with polyaniline without any pre-treatment. Thereduced graphene oxide, polyaniline and their composite electrodes were fabricatedon gold coated PET(polyethylene terephthalate) substrate through spray coatingmethod which can also apply to industrial scale. we have also prepared reducedgraphene oxide and polyaniline single material electrode to compare theirelectrochemical properties with reduced graphene oxide/polyaniline composite electrode. We have analyzed and compared electrochemical properties of eachelectrodes by using cyclic voltammetry(CV), galvanostaticcharge-discharge(GCD) and electrochemical impedancespectroscopy(EIS) at same condition. As a result, reduced graphene oxide /polyaniline composite electrode showed higher capacitance value more thanpolyaniline and reduced graphene oxide electrode, respectively. Internal resistanceof reduce graphene oxide/polyaniline composite electrode was 24% and 58% lessthan polaniline and reduced graphene oxide electrode respectively. These resultsconsidered that reduced graphene oxide/polyaniline composite electrode has potential ability and enable to apply flexible energy storage and wearable devices.

  • The statistical analyses of coefficient of variation, heritability, and genetic advance were carried out to identify differences in morphological characteristics, such as the stem and inflorescence length, of 10 major commercial cultivars of spray chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium). For morphological characteristics, stem lengths ranged from 46.4 cm to 54.9 cm, the maximum diameter of stem was 5.6 to 8.5 mm, the hardness of the stem was 0.17 to $0.70kg{\cdot}m^{-2}$, the fresh weight of stem was 7.5 to 17.5 g, the dry weight of the stem was 1.6 to 3.3 g, the ratio of dry weight/fresh weight of stem was 15.9% to 23.1%. Also, the number of leaves on the stem was 8.4 to 12.2, the stem leaf area was 17.8 to $37.8m^2$, the fresh weight stem leaves was 5.3 to 18.6 g, the dry weight was 0.5 to 1.4 g and the ratio of dry weight /fresh weight of stem leaves was 7.6% to 11.5%. The inflorescence length ranged from 10.1 to 18.6 cm, the fresh weight of inflorescence was 7.3 to 26.7 g, the dry weight of inflorescence was 1.2 to 2.8 g, the ratio of dry weight /fresh weight of inflorescence was 10.4% to 17.1%. For flower, the diameter of the flower center was 8.2 to 13.3 mm, the petal width was 5.7 to 14.0 mm, the petal length was 12.9 to 33.1 mm, and the petal thickness was 157.8 to $354.4{\mu}m$. The mean values of each character in each cultivar were very different, and DMRT and LSD values based on morphological characteristics among 10 cultivars were highly significant. For variability and genetic parameters, the lowest CV (coefficient of variation), PCV (phenotypic coefficient of variation), and GCV (genotypic coefficient of variation) were 4.79% to 5.15% in stem length, and the highest variations were 62.97% to 65.21% in leaf area. ECV (error or environmental coefficient of variation) was the lowest for leaf area (1.71%) and it was the highest for leaf dry weight (19.30%). Heritability also significantly differed among the characteristics, ranging from 68.69% to 99.67%, the lowest value was shown in ratio of dry weight /fresh weight of stem and the highest value was for leaf area of stem. The value for genetic advance was the lowest in hardness of stem at 0.30 and the highest in leaf thickness at 156.65. The lowest genetic advance as percentage of mean of stem hardness was 9.17%, while the highest percentage of stem length was 134.27%. Thus the characters which had the highest values indicated above show the influence of additive gene action and may provide useful resources for selection programs for agronomic improvement.

  • The objectives of this study were to isolate and the sequence of novel $F3'H$ gene related to an anthocyanin pathway, and to confirm the expression patterns of the gene involved in the flower color variations of chrysanthemum mutants. In this study, we isolated the full-length cDNAs and the genomic DNAs of an $F3'H$ gene from a wild type (WT) chrysanthemum (cv. Argus) and its three color mutants. The sequence analysis revealed a putative open reading frame of 1,527 bp that encodes a polypeptide of 509 amino acids. Sequence homology ranged from 97% to 99% between 'Argus' and its three color mutants. The sequence analysis from the genomic DNA revealed that the chrysanthemum $DgF3'H$ gene consisted of three exons and two introns spanning a 3,830 bp length. The sizes of the gene for three mutants ranged from a shorter size of 3,828 bp to a longer size of 3,838 bp when compared to the size of WT. The total size of the two introns was 2,157 bp for WT, but those for three color mutants ranged from 2,154 bp to 2,159 bp. A result of an RT-PCR analysis indicated that the color variations of the mutants AM1 and AM2 can be partly explained by the structural modification derived from the sequencial changes in the gene caused by gamma ray. A Southern blot analysis revealed that the $DgF3'H$ gene existing as multiple copies in the chrysanthemum genome. A systemic study will be further needed to provide a genetic mechanism responsible for the color mutation and to uncover any involvement of genetic elements for the expression of the $DgF3'H$ gene for the color variation in chrysanthemum.

  • The flowering locus T (FT) gene, of which expression will be controlled at high temperature by heat shock promoter (it printed as to HSproFT), was introduced into spray-type chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitamura) 2 cultivars ('Pink PangPang' and 'Pink Pride' by co-cultivation with Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain C58C1 harboring pCAMBIA2300 containing the HSproFT gene. After leaf segments of the 2 cultivars were infected with the A. tumafaciens with C58C1 as explants, shoots were regenerated from the explants cultured on the $1^{st}$ selection medium (MS basal salts + 1.0 mg/L BA, 0.5 mg/L IAA + 10 mg/L kanamycin + 0.7% plant agar, pH 5.8). The shoots were transferred into the $2^{nd}$ selection medium (MS basal salts + 1.0 mg/L BA, 0.5 mg/L IAA + 20 mg/L kanamycin + 0.7% plant agar, pH 5.8). One hundred seventeen plantlets from 'Pink PangPang' and 5 ones from 'Pink Pride' were confirmed as transformants by PCR analysis. Twenty six of the transformants and non-transformants were acclimatized and established well in a green house. Eights of 26 transgenic lines showed flower bud 1.7~10 days earlier than nontransgenic plants, and 24 of them flowered 1~6 days earlier than non- transgenic plants. The shape and color of flower of all HSproFT-transgenic lines were not different with those of non- transgenic plants.

  • Chrysanthemum is a cut flower species that normally lasts for 1 to 2 weeks, in some cases 3-4 weeks. This has been attributed to low ethylene production during senescence. Reduction in cut flower quality has been attributed to the formation of air embolisms that partially or completely blocks the water transport from the vase solution to the rest of the cut flower stem, increasing hydraulic resistance which may cause severe water stress, yellowing, wilting of leaf, and chlorophyll degradation. Standard type chrysanthemum can be harvested when buds were still tightly closed and then fully opened with the simple bud-opening solution. Standard type chrysanthemum can also be harvested when the minimum size of the inflorescence is about 5-6 cm bud which opened into the first flower full-sized flower. While spray varieties can be harvested when 2-4 most mature flowers have opened (40% opening). Cut flowers are sorted by stem length, weight, condition, and so on. Standard chrysanthemum is 80 cm length for standard type and 70cm for spray type. Pre-treatment with a STS, plant regulator such as GA, BA, 1-MCP, chrysal, germicide, and sucrose, significantly improved the vase life and quality of cut flowers. It is well established that vase solutions containing sugar can improve the vase life of cut chrysanthemum. Chrysanthemum is normally packed in standard horizontal fiberboard boxes. Chrysanthemum should normally be stored at $5{\sim}7^{\circ}C$. Precooling resulted in reduction in respiration, decomposition, and transpiration activities as well as decoloration retardation. There was significant difference between "wet" storage in 3 weeks and "dry" storage in 2 weeks. In separate pulsing solution trials, various germicides were tested, as well as PGRs to maintain the green color of leaves and turgidity. Prolonging vase life was attained with the application of optimal solution such as HQS, $AgNO_3$, GA, BA and sucrose. This also retarded senescence in leaves of cut flower stems. Fresh cut chrysanthemum can be transported using a refrigerated van with $5{\sim}7^{\circ}C$. Increasing consumption and usage of cut chrysanthemum of various cultivars would require efficient transport system, and effective information exchange among producer, wholesaler, and consumer.

  • A new spray chrysanthemum cultivar 'Yellow Candy' was released by National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA), in 2008. The cross was made in 2003 between 'Restone' and 'Lollipop'. Trials were conducted from 2006 to 2008 for the evaluation and selection of this cultivar, including shading cultures in summer and retarding cultures in spring. The natural flowering time of 'Yellow Candy' is late October, but year-round flowering is possible by photoperiodic control. It has pompon flower type with yellow petals and yellowish red flower center. The growth of plant is very vigorous. The diameter of flower is 4.3 cm. Number of flowers per stem and petals per flower are 8 and 184, respectively. Days to flowering under the short day treatment is about 58.5 and its vase life is 18.5 days in autumn season. 'Yellow Candy' was applied as No. 2009-177 on Feb. 18, 2009 for variety protection and the plant variety protection rights have been registered as No. 3247 on August 3, 2010 at the Korea Seed and Variety Service.

  • We report on the preparation of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) electrodes deposited onto flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) via spray coating technique. The highest capacitance value of the unbent rGO/SWNTs electrode was $82Fg^{-1}$ in 1 M $H_2SO_4$ at $100mVs^{-1}$, which decreased to $38Fg^{-1}$ after 500 bending cycle. Further characterization, including galvanostatic charge/discharge measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), showed that the rGO/SWNTs electrode retained a well-defined capacitive response after repetitive bending cycle. Overall, the rGO/SWNTs composite electrode showed reasonable electrochemical properties even prolonged bending cycle. Approximately 50% of the initial capacitance for the rGO/SWNTs composite electrode is remained after 500 bending cycle, making the electrode a potential option for flexible energy storage applications.

  • Highly porous polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres impregnated by $TiO_2$ powder were prepared by spray drying method. The particle size and the porosity were controlled by optimizing the co-solvent ratio and the polymer concentration. $TiO_2$ powder was impregnated into the microspheres upto 74.6 wt% content based on the weight of the resultant $PMMA/TiO_2$ microspheres. SEM images showed that $TiO_2$ powder was well distributed throughout the inside of the microsphere. EDX mapping showed that the Ti signal was well detected from every part of the microspheres, which was the evidence of the formation of the $PMMA/TiO_2$ composite. Hg porosimetry result showed that the porosity was found to be over 50% regardless of the $TiO_2$ contents. The final product was found to have high oil-absorbing capacity and great hiding power, both of which are key properties in designing the microsphere materials for make-up cosmetics application.
