The purpose of this study is to examine between the social isolation and smart phone addiction in elderly. Under this relationship, we investigated the double-mediation effects of self-regulation and social support. Research data were collected from 404 elderly in DaeJeon, South Korea. The final sample were 404 who fully responded. As a result of structural equation modeling, the social isolation of elderly significantly effected directly in smart phone addiction. Furthermore, self-regulation and social support effected the smart phone addiction indirectly through the double-mediation path. Based on the results of this study, the implications and future studies of the smart phone addiction of elderly are suggested.

This research analyzed how smart devices and Social Network Service (SNS) change the construction of social capital. The results show that smart devices provide the foundation of expending 'bridging social capital' by offering various communication tools. SNS reinforces 'bonding social capital' and extends 'bridging social capital' by expanding social relationships from off-line to online and supporting the construction of online communities. In contrast, the use of SNS through smart devices is not related to the generation of social capital. However, it builds a multi-aspect social capital by making people participate in various social activities.

Despite the ever-increasing smartphone addiction of adolescents and a variety of consequent problems not much research has been conducted on the issue. It is time to prepare a set of countermeasures to protect them from the addiction. The central purpose of the current paper is to identify how use motives, self-control and social withdrawal affect their smartphone addiction. It was found (i) that the motives of information acquisition, social relationship, amusement and use of leisure time exert significant influence on smartphone addiction, (ii) that less self-control and greater impulsiveness result in greater addiction, and (iii) that social withdrawal of users also have significant effect on smartphone addiction. Such findings are expected to provide base data for any attempt to develop countermeasures against addiction. It is desirable that we had better check the play activities of adolescents and develop self-control programs to help them alleviate impulsiveness than simply impose strict restrictions on the use of smartphones.

In this paper, our goal is to examine the factors related to smartphone users' usage addiction. Based on existing literature on mobile usage behavior and addiction, we developed and tested a theoretical model and hypotheses, analyzing how variables based on the characteristics of smartphones affect smartphone usage addiction and how smartphone usage addiction affects social withdrawal. Given the literature review, a questionnaire survey was conducted; and the PLS(Partial Least Square), a kind of SEM(Structural Equation Model), was used to analyze and test the research model and hypotheses. The research results indicated that smartphone users' self-monitoring, loneliness, and smartphone characteristics affect users' usage addiction. Further, smartphone users' usage addiction affects their social withdrawal. Finally, theoretical and practical implications of these findings and directions for future research were discussed.

We are living in the era of globalization, convergence of multi technologies and dual service system especially in the cultural, social, political, economical and technical aspects. Where as today, we are hoping to be provided with more intellectual, cheep, and converged form with the help of stored information without any space and time constraints. In this thesis, with consideration of the knowledge based society service integration paradigm, we will first look at the concept of Smart Service with various case studies, proposition strategy implementation on Smart Platform by analysing the service the implementing aspect, looking at the roles of each related divisions, and measuring the secure elements etc.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of undergraduates' smart phone addiction on their development of sociality. According to the results of positive analysis, if smart phone addiction gets more serious, sociality becomes lower. More concretely, smart phone addiction consists of its subareas: difficulties in daily living, pursuing experience in the virtual world, withdrawal, and tolerance. Sociality has its subareas as confidence, sociability, and interpersonal relationship. If difficulties in daily living and tolerance become increased, confidence gets lower. In addition, as pursuing experience in the virtual world and withdrawal become increased, sociability gets lower. Regarding the dispositions of smart phone addiction in groups subdivided by sex, men are more apt to be addicted than women. Recently, smart phone use has been tremendously increased, and issues regarding addiction to it have been raised as problems in society. Therefore, it will be needed to discuss solutions for more reasonable use in society in order to prevent smart phone addiction.

The purpose of this study is to examine the impacts of smartphone use on structured social network types in the Korean elderly population. Data was derived from the 2014 survey of living conditions and welfare needs of Korean older persons collected by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. A total of 4,180 participants were selected for the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) analysis. Based on propensity score estimates, the 491 smartphone users (treatment group) and 491 featurephone users (control group) were matched. Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between smartphone use and structural social network types. The results showed that among retired older adults, people using smartphone had significantly better structured social networks than those using featurephone even after controlling for covariates. Smartphone users had the higher levels of social contact and social activity. These findings suggested empirical evidence that using smartphone positively affects structured social networks, which might be used as the basis for designing intervention programs to promote social networks and social engagement of retired older adults.

This study empirically analyzed the effect of media literacy on the formation of the smart divide, which is a multi-faceted digital divide that occurs in the context of the use of smart devices. As a result, most of the factors of media literacy affect the establishment of social relations and social network through the use of smart devices, which, in turn, leads to the expansion of the range of informational and social activities. In addition, media literacy has a significant effect on the competence to evaluate the value of information acquired through the use of smart devices. Based on these results, there can be social disparity between those who have secured media literacy and those who do not from the perspective of informational and social benefits through the use of smart devices, which can function as a mechanism to generate the smart divide.

This study tests a model for the effect of low self-control on cyber crime and its mediating process. Intervening variables include smartphone addiction, social learning and opportunity variables. Analyzing a data from college students in Seoul, it is shown that the effect of low self-control has a significant effect on smartphone addiction. Results also show that smartphone addiction has a positive significant effect on differential association with illegal peers, illegal definition, and illegal opportunity, and in turn cybercrime. In addition, it is found that low self-control has also a direct effect on differential association with illegal peers, illegal definitions, and illegal opportunity without mediating by smartphone addiction. As a result, it is reveal that the effect of low self-control on cybercrime is indirect and its effect is mediated by smartphone addiction, differential association with illegal peers, illegal definitions, and illegal opportunity.
