In this research, the performance of surface covering technique using a white-colored bubble sheet on reducing the cracking due to the plastic, and drying shrinkages for high rise building construction were evaluated by comparing the exposed surface without any surface treatment. From the results of the experiment conducted during fall season, desired results of decreased numbers, length, maximum width, and area of cracking were obtained without a significant difference on heat of hydration and cumulative temperature. Therefore, it is considered that the surface covering technique using bubble sheet is an appropriate method for preventing plastic and drying shrinkage cracking at fall season concrete construction.
The internal or external restraint of thermal and dry shrinkage movements could thus generate tensile stresses in concrete pavement for early traffic opening. Restrained shrinkage and thermal stresses could produce microcracks in concrete which increase its permeability and accelerate its long-term deterioration under weathering and load effects. Fiber reinforced concrete is an effective approach to the control of microcrack and crack development under tensile stresses. This study aims at evaluation of the durability of high early strength concrete for early traffic opening and increase of service life. Three different types of regulated-set cement which recently has been used much in Korea were adopted. Fibers were added and their mixtures were compared with plain high early strength concrete mixture. The use of fibers increased durability performance of high early strength concrete using regulated-set cement than the corresponding plain mixtures.

The present study proposes the modified-stoichiometric model for describing hydration of sodium silicate-based alkaliactivated slag(AAS), and compares the results with the thermodynamic modelling-based calculations. The proposed model is based on Chen and Brouwers(2007a) model with updated database as reported in recent studies. In addition, the calculated results for AAS are compared to those for hydrated portland cement. The maximum difference between the proposed model and the thermodynamic calculation for AAS was at most 20%, and the effects of water-to-binder ratio and activator dosages were identically described by both approaches. In particular, the amount of non-evaporable water was within 10% difference, and was in excellent agreement with the experimental results. Nevertheless, notable deviation was observed for the chemical shrinkage, which is largely dependent on the volume of hydrates and pores.

This study investigated possibilities for a new reducing shrinkage method of soybean oil(SO) and waste oil(WO) to compare with shrinkage reducing agent(RS) and expansion additive(EA). There was no big difference to flow, air contents, and compressive strength of plain to use SO and WO. For the reducing shrinkage performance, SO and WO was more effective than RS and EA, because their fatty acid reacted with calcium hydroxide of concrete to turn soap. For the pore distribution by porosimter, $0.01{\sim}0.1{\mu}m$ pores of SO and WO were 0 ml/g, and $10{\sim}100{\mu}m$ also remarkably lower than any others. In these results, it inferred that they filled up capillary pore and mitigated autogenous shrinkage by their saponification of their fatty acid and calcium hydroxide.

The autogenous shrinkage of HPC is important in that it can lead the early cracks in concrete structures. The purpose of the present study is to explore the autogenous shrinkage of HPC with cellulose fiber and expansive additive and to derive a realistic equation to estimate the autogenous shrinkage model of that. For this purpose, comprehensive experimental program has been set up to observe the autogenous shrinkage for various test series. Major test variables were the quantity of expansive additive and cellulose fiber. Water-cement ratio is fixed with 13%. The autogenous shrinkage of HPC is found to decrease with increasing expansive additive and cellulose fiber. A prediction equation to estimate the autogenous shrinkage of HPC was derived and proposed in this study. The proposed equation shows reasonably good correlation with test data on autogenous shrinkage of HPC.

Recently, the use of UHPC made of superplasticizers, silica fume, and steel fibers has been increasing worldwide. Although UHPC has a very high strength as well as an excellent durability performance due to its dense microstructures, earlyage cracks may occur due to the high heat of hydration and autogenous shrinkage caused by low W/B and high unit cement content. The early-age shrinkage cracking of UHPC can be controlled by using the shrinkage reducers and expansive admixtures having autogenous shrinkage compensation effect. In this paper, ultrasonic pulse velocity of UHPC containing shrinkage reducers and expansive agents was measured to predict its stiffness change. Also, the effect of shrinkage reducers and expansive agents on the autogenous shinkage of UHPC was investigated through the shrinkage test of UHPC specimens. Furthermore, the material coefficients of autogenous shrinkage prediction model were determined using the autogenous shrinkage values of UHPC with age. Consequently, the test results showed that, by adding shrinkage reducers and expansive agents, the stiffness of UHPC was rapidly developed at early-ages and the autogenous shrinkage was considerably reduced.

In this paper, finite element analysis is applied for simulation of cracks due to restraining autogenous and drying shrinkage at early-age concrete. A micro-level heat hydration model and a shrinkage prediction model along with a moisture diffusion model are adopted for the finite element analysis. Then, an axial restraint test is carried out for concrete specimens containing different amounts of chloride ions to evaluate stress development and cracking due to the restraining shrinkages at early ages. Test results show that the increase of contents of chloride ions increases restrained stress, but does not increase strength. By this increase of shrinkage strain at early-age, time to occur the crack is accelerated. Finally, stress development and cracking of concrete specimens containing different amount of chloride ions we simulated using the finite element analysis. Results of the analysis using the Proposed model are verified by comparison with test results.
Calcium sulfaluminate (CSA) was synthesized to improve the shrinkage of OPC. In this study, the setting time, the compressive strength and the length change ratio were confirmed by replacing the synthesized CSA with OPC by 10% and 13% by 16%. In the case of shrinkage-reducing type cement, formation of Ca-Al-$H_2$-based hydrate was activated. Therefore, the setting time was shortened. The compressive strength of the shrinkage - reducing type cement is comparable to that of OPC after 7 days' strength. However, shrinkage reducing type cement showed improved initial strength compared to OPC. The length change ratio was found to be improved by drying shrinkage from -0.075% to -0.047% on the 28th day.
In order to examine the possibility of incineration of inderstrial by-product and wastes which contains a large percentage of chlorine by the cement kiln, measured heat of hydration, setting time, flow, change of length, compressive strength of OPC by the amount of KCl. The result was that a shorter setting time, a lower flow, a increasing the degree of initial shrinkage, a increasing of compressive strength before 3 days and decrease after 7 days by the induction period is shorter as promote the hydration with KCl.
