  • In this study, the case of error became the object of learning, and the investigator applied these cases to an actual class and established three study problems in order to achieve the purpose of this study. The results of analysis of students' errors in figure based on before achievement test are shown as follows: First, the most errors occurred in the figure was the ones from deficient mastery of prerequisite concepts and definitions. Specially, the errors from deficient mastery of prerequisite concepts and definitions have the majority. it is very high ratio even if it considers an influence of an evaluation question item. so, I think it is necessary to teach concept related figure above all. Second, as the results of application 'finding errors' to a class, there is a meaningful difference in the mathematical achievement and reasoning ability within significance level 5%. This means 'finding errors' is one of the teaching method that it develops the mathematical achievement and reasoning ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine not only students' cognition in the mathematical error-finding activity of the concept of irrational numbers, but also the students' learning stance regarding the use of errors and a teacher's questioning strategies that lead to changes in the level of mathematical discourse. To this end, error-finding individual activities, group activities, and additional interviews were conducted with 133 middle school students, and students' cognition and the teacher's questioning strategies for changes in students' learning stance and levels of mathematical discourse were analyzed. As a result of the study, students' cognition focuses on the symbolic representation of irrational numbers and the representation of decimal numbers, and they recognize the existence of irrational numbers on a number line, but tend to have difficulty expressing a number line using figures. In addition, the importance of the teacher's leading and exploring questioning strategy was observed to promote changes in students' learning stance and levels of mathematical discourse. This study is valuable in that it specified the method of using errors in mathematics teaching and learning and elaborated the teacher's questioning strategies in finding mathematical errors.

  • In this paper we analyze creative mathematical competition for Russian mathematics teachers, and try to find out some suggestions for developing mathematics teacher's professional abilities. For these purposes we analyze problems and result data on the creative mathematical competition(for example, mean, distribution, reliability, discrimination, difficulty), and extract some meanings related with expanding teacher's professional abilities and activating studies related with mathematical pedagogy.
