  • This study is to assess the effect of horizontal misfit of an implant supported 3-unit fixed prosthodontics on the stress development at the marginal cortical bone surrounding implant neck. Two finite element models consisting of a three unit fixed prosthodontics and an implant/bone complex were constructed on a three dimensional basis. The three unit fixed prosthodontics were designed either shorter (d=17.8mm model) or longer (d=18.0mm model) by 0.1mm than the span of two implants placed at the mandibular second premolar and second molar areas 17.9mm apart. Fitting of the fixed prosthodontics onto the implant abutments was simulated by a total of 6 steps, that is to say, 0.1mm displacement per each step, using DEFORM 3D (ver 6.1, SFTC, Columbus, OH, USA) program. Stresses in the fixed prosthodontics and implants were evaluated using von-Mises stress, maximum compressive stress, and radial stress as necessary. The d=17.8mm model assembled successfully on to the implant abutments while d=18.0mm model did not. Regardless if the fixed prosthodontics fitted onto the abutments or not, excessively higher stresses developed during the course of assembly trial and thereafter. On the marginal cortical bone around implants during the assembly, the peak tensile and compressive stresses were as high as 186.9MPa and 114.1MPa, respectively, even after the final sitting of the fixed prosthodontics (for d=17.8mm model). For this case, the area of marginal bone subject to compressive stresses above 55MPa, equivalent of the $4,000{\mu}{\varepsilon}$, i.e. the reported threshold strain to inhibit physiological remodeling of human cortical bone, extended up to 2mm away from implant during the assembly. Horizontal misfit of 0.1mm can produce excessively high stresses on the marginal cortical bone not only during the fixed prosthodontics assembly but also thereafter.

  • This study undertook research on the sections of 90 harbor structures which applied a pile-type soil improvement using the soil-cement pile and then, determined the minimum replacement rate for each section, showing sufficient stability in all relevant studies including numerical analysis. The reliability of the numerical analysis was verified by a centrifuge model test. As a result of the study, it was revealed that when the foundation soil is too soft ($s_u$ = under 15 kPa), it is unsuitable to apply a pile-type ground improvement to a soil improvement regardless of types of super structures. And a pile-type soil improvement was found to be suitable for a harbor structure with the relative stiffness ratio (n) of less than 50~75 at a maximum and the 2~3 MPa strength of the soil-cement pile. Furthermore the governing factor for the minimum replacement rate for the pile-type soil improvement was turned out to be the allowable horizontal displacement. Therefore, the primary review to see the applicability of the pile-type soil improvement requires the evaluation of horizontal displacements.

  • In order to minimize ac mutual coupling, the auxiliary electrode are located at a right angle in measuring ground impedance. In case that the measurement space is limited, the alternative method is employed. At that time, it is necessary to investigate the measurement errors due to ac mutual coupling and earth mutual resistance in measuring the ground impedances. 'This paper presents the measurement accuracy according to the location of the current and potential auxiliary electrodes in measuring ground impedance of vertically or horizontally buried ground electrode. The measurement errors due to ac mutual coupling were evaluated Consequently, the effect of ac mutual coupling on the measurement accuracy for horizontally buried ground electrode is greater than that for vertically buried ground electrode. Measurement errors due to ac mutual coupling is the largest when the current and potential auxiliary electrodes are located in parallel. The 61.8[%] rule is inappropriate in measuring ground measurement. Theoretically, in case that the angle between the current and potential auxiliary electrodes is 90$[^{\circ}]$, there is no ac mutual coupling. If it is not possible to route the current and potential auxiliary electrodes at a right angle with limitation of measurement space, the location of these electrodes with an obtuse angle is preferred to that with an acute angle in reducing the measurement errors due to ac mutual coupling.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the flexural strength of flexible resins and the flexibility of different resin splint (RS) systems in comparison with resin wire splint (RWS) system. Materials and methods: Three different resin materials (G-aenial flo, GA, GC; Superbond, SB, Sun medical; G-fix, GF, GC) were tested flexural strength test in accordance with ISO-4049:2000. For the flexibility test of splint systems, a artificial model with resin teeth was used to evaluate three types of resin splint systems (GA, SB, and GF) and one resin wire splint system. The left central incisor was simulated 'injured teeth' with third degree mobility. Three consecutively repeated measurements of periotest value were taken in horizontal direction, before and after splinting to access tooth mobility. The splinting effect was calculated through the periotest value. Differences were evaluated through One-way Anova and Tukey HDS post-hoc tests for pair-wise comparison (${\alpha}=.05$). Results: Although GA group showed significant higher flexural strength than SB and GF groups, all of three different resin splint systems produced a significantly higher and rigid splinting effect compared with 016" resin-wire splint system (P < .05). Conclusion: Within the limits of an in vitro study, it can be stated that resin splint systems are too rigid and may not be acceptable to treat tooth avulsion.

  • In order to establish an independent relationship between occupations in accordance with the abuse of doctor's orders and employment, the position of each physician and medical technician group, and the education system and laws of Japan, the United States, and England To promote the improvement of public health. The main differences in positions among related interest groups were analyzed, and the proposals and precedents of the National Assembly laws that were initiated after 1963 were analyzed and compared with the laws of developed countries. Among the OECD member countries, 26 countries except Korea have enacted a single law for medical technicians, and the meaning of instructions and supervision differs from country to country. The Medical Technician Act, etc., is inappropriate to apply the current and situation of the times as the laws of the 20th century to represent all the laws of the eight medical technicians. It is thought that a change in the word of direction and supervision under the control of the company is inevitable from a future-oriented horizontal perspective.
