Geometry and Kinematics of the Northern Part of Yeongdeok Fault (영덕단층 북부의 기하와 운동학적 특성)

  • This study aims to identify the fault zone architecture and geometric and kinematic characteristics of the Yeongdeok Fault, based on the geometry and kinematic data of various structural elements obtained by detailed field survey and anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of the fault rocks. The Yeongdeok Fault extends from Opo-ri, Ganggu-myeon, Yeongdeok-gun to Gilgok-ri, Maehwa-myeon and Bangyul-ri, Giseong-myeon, Uljin-gun, and cuts various rock types from the Paleo-proterozoic to the Mesozoic with a range of 4.6-5.0 km (4.77 km in average) of right-lateral offset or forms the rock boundaries. The fault is divided into four segments based on its geometric features and shows N-S to NNW strikes and dips of an angle of ≥ 54° to the east at most outcrops, even though the outcrops showing the westward dipping (a range of 54°-82°) of fault surface increase as it goes north. The Yeongdeok Fault shows the difference in the fault zone architecture and in the fault core width ranging from 0.3 to 15 m depending on the bedrock type, which is interpreted as due to differences in the physical properties of bedrock such as ductility, mineral composition, particle size, and anisotropy. Combining the results of paleostress reconstruction and AMS in this and previous studies, the Yeongdeok Fault experienced (1) sinistral strike-slip under NW-SE maximum horizontal principle stress (σHmax) and NE-SW minimum horizontal principle stress (σHmin) in the late Cretaceous to early Cenozoic, and then (2) dextral strike-slip under NE-SW maximum horizontal principle stress (σHmax) and NW-SE minimum horizontal principle stress (σHmin) in the Paleogene. It is interpreted that the deformation caused by the Paleogene dextral strike-slip movement was the most dominant, and the crustal deformation was insignificant thereafter.

Application of Deconvolution Methods to Improve Seismic Resolution and Recognition of Sedimentary Facies Containing Gas Hydrates (동해 가스하이드레이트 퇴적상 해석 및 분해능 향상을 위한 디컨볼루션 연구)

  • Three deconvolution methods were applied to stacked seismic data obtained to investigate gas-hydrates in the Ulleung Basin, East Sea: (1) minimum-phase spiking deconvolution, (2) minimum-phase spiking deconvolution using an averaged wavelet from all traces, and (3) deterministic deconvolution using a wavelet with phases computed from well-logs. We analyzed the resolving property of these methods for lithological boundaries. The first deconvolution method increases temporal resolution but decreases lateral continuity. The second method shows, in an overall sense, similar results to the spiking deconvolution using a minimum phase wavelet for each trace; however, it results in a more consistent and continuous bottom-simulating reflector (BSR) and better resolved sub-BSR reflectors. The results from the third method reveal more detailed internal structures of debris-flow deposits and increased continuity of reflectors; in addition, the seafloor reflection and the BSR appear to have changed to a zero-phase waveform. These properties help more precisely estimate the distribution and reserves of gas hydrates in the exploration area by improving analysis of facies and amplitude of the BSR.

A Study on the Effects of Chemical Grout on the Shear Strength of Fresh Granite Joints (신선한 화강암 절리면에서 약액에 의한 전단강도의 변화에 대한 연구)

  • This study was aimed to see the effect of chemical grout on fresh granite joint shear strength. The grouting chemical used in this study was composed of 25% water glass. Direct shear tests were performed on the chemical filled joints, which had been made artificially with granite. The test results show that chemical grouted rock jonts have markedly reduced shear strength comparing with the ungrouted fresh joints and they sheared within chemical grout before the rock to rock contact had been established, while the ungrouted joint sheared between rock surfaces from the beginning of shear deformation. With chemical grouted joints the shear stress slowly reached its maximum without showing distinct peak shear strength. Therefore the shear stiffness of joints were decreased with increasing thickness of grout. but the shear strain at failure was increased with it.

  • 본 논문은 관성센서를 이용한 무인 항공체의 자세 제어에 관한 연구를 다루었다. 항공계의 종류는 크게 고정익기와 회선익기로 나뉘는데 본 연구에서는 회전익기의 형태를 가진 Quarter Vehicle을 사통하였다. Quarter Vehicle은 4개의 프로펠러에 의한 양력과 회전 반발력으로 비행을 한다. 이때의 양력은 수평면에 대해 수직으로 추력을 발생시키므로 다른 비행체보다 불안정하며 이를 안정하게 제어하기 위해 관성 센서를 적용하여 균형을 유지한다. 본 연구에서는 관성센서를 이용하여 UAV의 자세와 균형을 안정적으로 유지하여 안정적인 비행이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한 상호 의존적인 항법 시스템으로 환경변화에 영향을 받지 않으며, 정확한 위치정보를 제공하는 GPS를 사용하여 3개 이상의 위성으로부터 정보를 받아 좌표를 계산하고 위치, 속도 및 방향을 결정하여 자율 비행이 가능하도록 설계하였다. 본 논문에서는 Quarter Vehicle의 구조와 이론적 배경을 통한 설계, 그리고 관성센서와 GPS의 적용을 위한 방법을 제시 한다.

A Detailed Analysis of Solar Radiation Resources in Korea (국내 태양에너지 자원 정밀분석)

  • Since the solar energy resource is the main input for sizing any solar photovoltaic system and solar thermal power system, it is essential to utilize the solar radiation data as a application and development of solar energy system increase. It will be necessary to understand and evaluate the insolation data. The Korea Institute of Energy Research(KIER) has begun collecting horizontal global insolation data since May, 1982 at 16 different locations in Korea and for the more detailed analysis, Images taken by geostationary satellite may be used to estimate solar irradiance fluxes at earth's surface. It is based on the empirical correlation between a satellite derived cloud index and the irradiance at the ground. From the results, the measured data has been collected at 16 different stations and estimated using satellite at 23 different stations over the South Korea from 1982 to 2009. The Result of analysis shows that the annual-average daily global radiation on the horizontal surface is $3.56kWh/m^2/day$.

  • Artificial roughness as a means of improving heat transfer gains more interest, especially for application to various heat exchanger. This study present experimental information for single-phase free and force convection heat transfer in a circular tube containing a internal spiral ribs. To examine the effect of inclined angle of tube, it was varied from 0 deg to 90 deg (0.deg., 22.5.deg., 45.deg., 90.deg.) with horizontal. Length of tube is 1.6m, and width, height and helix angle of rib are 4.2mm, 1.5mm, and 60 deg respectively. Water was used as a working fluid and test piece was heated with a constant heat flux by electric heater. Experiments have been performed with the range of modified Grashof number from 2 * 10$^{6}$ to 15 * 10$^{6}$ for free convection and with the range of Reynolds number from 3,000 to 40,000 for forced convection. Since the increase in heat transfer coefficients influence directly to the friction coefficient of the tube, the changes of the friction factors are also presented for several different cases considered in this investigation.

  • This paper considers the path tracking problem in a horizontal plane for underactuated (or non-holonomic) autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Underwater mapping has been an important mission for AUVs. Recently, underwater docking has also become a main research field of AUVs. These kinds of missions basically require accurate attitude and trajectory control performance. However, the non-holonomic problem should be solved to achieve accurate path tracking for the torpedo-type of AUVs. In this paper, resolved motion and acceleration control (RMAC) is considered as a path tracking controller for an underactuated torpedo-shaped AUV, ISiMi. A set of numerical simulations is carried out to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed RMAC scheme, and experimental data with ISiMi100 and discussions are presented.

  • 본 논문은 GPS를 이용한 무인 비행체의 자율비행에 관한 연구를 다루었다. 비행체의 종류는 크게 고정익기와 회전익기로 나뉘는데 본 연구에서는 회전익기의 형태를 가진 Quarter Vehicle을 사용하였다. Quarter Vehicle은 4개의 프로펠러에 의한 양력과 회전 반발력으로 비행을 한다. 이때의 양력은 수평면에 대해 수직으로 추력을 발생시키므로 다른 비행체보다 불안정하며 이를 안정하게 제어하기 위해 관성 센서를 적용하여 균형을 유지한다. 본 연구에서는 UAV의 자세와 균형을 안정적으로 유지하기 위해 관성센서를 적용하였으며 GPS를 활용하여 독립적인 자율비행이 가능하도록 하였다. 정확한 위치정보를 제공하는 GPS는 3개 이상의 위성으로부터 시간 및 위치 정보를 받아 좌표를 계산하고 비행체의 위치, 속도 및 방향을 결정하여 자율 비행이 가능하도록 한다. 또한 초형 지자기센서를 비행체에 적용하여 GPS의 방향 정보를 보완하도록 하였다. 본 논문에서는 무인 비행체의 자율비행의 기초가 되는 위치좌표 계산을 위한 GPS의 적용 방법과 비행경로계획 알고리즘을 제시 한다.

  • 본 연구는 최근 서울시를 중심으로 진행되고 있는 도시 가로조명의 광원교체에 따른 조명환경 개선효과를 조사 분석하였다. 조사대상은 이미 기존의 나트륨램프를 고효율 메탈할라이드 램프로 교체한 서울시 종로구의 창경궁길로 선정하였다. 평가방법은 조사대상을 중심으로 야간의 교체 전, 후의 조명현황조사 및 물리량을 측정하였으며, 이를 토대로 개선효과를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 광원을 교체한 후 수평면 조도는 약 1.4배, 스칼라 조도는 약 1.3배 증가하였으며, 공간의 평균 휘도값은 $0.06cd/m^2$ 증가하였다. 색온도는 2,399[K]에서 3,632[K]로 증가하여 공간의 느낌이 따뜻한 느낌에서 차가운 느낌으로 변화되었는데, 이는 기존의 평온한 이미지에서 부드러운 이미지로 변화 된 것으로 분석된다. 색도는 주황색에 가까운 노란색에서 엷은 노란색을 띠는 백색으로 변화되었으며, 이는 램프의 연색성에 의하여 사물의 식별성에 대한 가시도가 증가한 것으로 분석된다. 또한, 에너지 절감형 친환경 메탈할라이드 램프의 교체에 의하여 앞으로 연간 에너지 절감효과도 클 것으로 기대된다.

A Numerical Study on the Natural Convection from a Square Beam with a Horizontal Adiabatic Plate (수평단열판에 부착된 등온사각비임에서의 자연대류 열전달에 관학 수치해석)

  • Steady laminar natural convection heat transfer from a square beam with a horizontal adiabatic plate has been studied numerically for various Grashof numbers and beam shapes. The heat transfer from a square beam increases as the dimensionless beam width W / L decreases. The mean Nusselt number of the upper surface is minimum at W / L = 1.0, maximum at W / L = 0.25 and that of the side surface is minimum at W / L = 0.25, maximum at W / L = 1.0. The increases of the total mean Nusselt number with increasing Grashof number is dominated by the beam width.
