Turbulence Models for the Surface Discharge of Heated Water (표면온배수 난류모형)

  • In order to predict the dispersion of a thermal discharge with strong turbulent and buoyant effects, the development of a numerical model using turbulence model and its application are significantly increased. In this study, a 3-dimensional steady-state model for the surface discharge of heated water into quiescent water body is developed. For the model closure of turbulent terms the 4-equation turbulence model is used. For economic numerical simulation, the elliptic governing equations are transformed to the partially parabolic equations. In general, the simulated results by the present model agree well to the experimental results by Pande and Rajaratnam. The model characteristics are presented in comparison with the predicted results of the 2-equation turbulence model by McGuirk and Rodi. Applying the 4-equation turbulence model to the Korea nuclear unit 1 at Kori site, feasibility and efficiency of the present model are validated.

  • For MEMS applications, the effects of the momentum and heat loss on the stability of laminar premixed flames in a narrow channel are investigated by high-fidelity numerical simulations. A general finding is that momentum loss promotes the Saffman-Taylor (S-T) instability which is additive to the Darrieus-Landau (D-L) instabilities, while the heat loss effects result in an enhancement of the diffusive-thermal (D-T) instability. These effects are also valid in nonlinear behavior of the premixed flame. The simulations of multiple cell interactions are also conducted with heat and momentum loss effects.

Longshore Currents Driven by Irregular Waves (불규칙파에 의한 연안류)

  • Currents driven by irregular waves are modelled using numerical model with various empirical relations improved. Kitaigorodskii's equilibrium equation is refined to account for shoaling effect and used for checking the breaking condition. In order to compute the bottom friction realistically. equivalent roughness blights are estimated considering the ripple shape and bed load transport which may be significant the surf zone. Two sets of equations are employed to evaluate the ripple shape: one is suggested by Nielsen and the other by Madsen and Rogengaus. Both equations give similar shape of ripples. but Madsen et al. give lower value of ripple factor than Swart suggesting that the equivalent roughness becomes relatively small. Optimization technique is used to determine the proper values for the empirical parameters of $\kappa$-ι equations, and the longshore current velocity is computed using the values of empirical parameters determined by the optimization technique.

  • Longshore currents driven by monochromatic waves have been described using 2-equation $textsc{k}$-ι turbulence transport model. When using $textsc{k}$-ι closure both profiles of eddy viscosity and current velocity are found to be satisfactory. Several terms of ι equation are related to various variables concerned with turbulence mechanism. New form of turbulence frequency used in ι equation is suggested in the present approach, and non-dimensional parameters are evaluated by comparing the computational results with the laboratory measurements. Various values of a large range are applied to the non-dimensional parameters for the sensitivity test and in order to improve the predictability common values of constants are deduced, which produce similarly good computational results for the well-controlled laboratory measurements.

  • 전 세계적으로 여름철 국지성 집중호우 및 태풍으로 인한 피해가 빈번하게 발생하고 있으며, 산지가 많은 국내에서는 산지지역 뿐만 아니라 도심지에서의 토석류 피해 또한 급증하고 있다. 또한 2011년 7월 우면산 토석류, 춘천시 펜션 토석류 등 규모면에서 이전 보다 큰 토석류가 발생되고 있다. 이러한 토석류로 인한 피해를 줄이기 위해서는 토석류의 수치적 해석이 필요하며 현재 다양한 토석류 수치해석 모델을 이용하여 토석류를 분석하고 있다. 또한 토석류는 주로 강우로 인해 발생되기 때문에 토석류 해석을 위해선 강우-유출해석이 선행되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 청송 풍력단지를 조성하는 면봉산 일대를 대상지역으로 선정하였다. 토석류를 유발시키는 강우를 해석하기 위해 분포형 강우-유출모형인 S-RAT모형을 사용하였으며, 토석류 해석을 위해 토석류 2차원 수치해석모형인 RAMMS모형을 사용하였다. 두 모형의 커플링을 통해 토석류 확산범위 및 유동심, 속도, 충격력을 산정하였다. 이를 통해 유역내 토석류 발생시 동일규모의 사방시설을 토석류 흐름구간에 설치하여 위치에 따른 저감효과를 분석하여 사방시설의 적정위치에 대한 분석을 실시하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 유목과 연행침식을 고려한 토석류 수치모형을 개발하여 2011년 발생한 우면산 산사태의 관측데이터를 기반으로 수치모의를 수행하였다. 토석류 모형개발을 위해 천수방정식 기반의 침수모형인 Nays2DFlood 모형에 혼합유사농도의 이송확산, 토석류 지면전단응력, 연행침식모듈을 추가하였으며 유목생성과 유목거동 모의를 위해 입자법 기반의 유목동력학 모형을 결합하였다. 개발된 모형을 검증하기 위해, 민감도분석을 수행하였으며, 모의결과, 우면산 산사태 당시 래미안 APT에 피해를 끼친 충격수심과 충격유속, 최종 토석류 체적을 양호하게 재현한 것으로 판단된다. 또한 토석류를 구성하는 토사입경이 작을수록 토사점성에 의한 전단응력의 증가로 토석류 유속과 수심이 감소했지만 연행침식량이 증가하였으며, 토사입경이 증가하면 유속과 수심이 증가하고 연행침식량은 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 본 연구에서 개발된 토석류 거동모형은 토사입경, 침식 및 퇴적계수 등의 다양한 토석류 매개변수가 요구되기 때문에, 이러한 물성치 데이터가 현장 또는 실내실험에서 충분히 확보되어야 모형의 정확도가 향상될 것으로 판단된다. 따라서, 향후 연구에서는 본 연구에서 고찰된 모형의 적용성과 한계점을 고려하여 토석류 거동을 예측모의 한다면 보다 세부적으로 토석류와 유목거동을 예측분석해 볼 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 또한 본 연구의 결과는 기후변화로 인한 강우발생의 불확실성과 이로 야기되는 토석류 발생을 사전에 예측하여 토석류 저감대응방안을 구축하는 일환으로 활용 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 전 세계적인 기후변화로 인해 태풍과 집중호우의 발생빈도와 규모가 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 이러한 태풍과 집중호우는 국토의 64%가 산지로 이루어져 있는 우리나라에서 토석류 재해를 발생시켜 하류부에 많은 피해를 입힌다. 토석류는 계곡을 따라 흐르는 특성을 가지고 있어 콘크리트 사방댐, 슬릿트형 사방댐과 같은 횡단구조물과 기슭막이와 같은 종단구조물의 설치는 토석류피해 저감에 매우 유효하게 작용하고 있다. 따라서 토석류 재해의 발생 위험이 높은 유역에서의 토사유출량의 예측과 재해저감시설의 규모와 형상, 위치 설정은 토석류 피해를 예방하기 위한 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 2019년 10월 토석류 재해가 발생한 지역의 피해를 분석하기 위해 2차원 수치모형인 Hyper KANAKO 모형을 이용하였으며, 해당 지역의 수치지형도를 이용하여 수치표고모델(DEM)과 토석류 피해를 저감하기 위한 배수시설을 고려한 지형자료를 제작하였다. 그리고 모형의 주요 입력변수인 첨두유량은 토석류 피해가 발생하였을 때의 강우 자료와 현장조사 자료를 이용하여 산정하였다. Hyper KANAKO 모형의 결과로 나타나는 확산범위, 퇴적량 등을 분석하여 배수시설의 유무에 따른 토석류 피해 저감효과를 분석하였다.

Numerical Experiment on the Drift Diffusion of Harmful Algal Bloom (유해적조생물의 이동·확산에 관한 수치실험)

  • To understand the drift-diffusion of HAB(Harmful Algal Bloom) in this paper, we used three-dimensional hydrodynamic model POM(Pringceton Ocean Model) and Lagrangian particle track module. First, the results of residual flow that considered tide, wind, temperature, salinity, and TWC(Tsushima Warm Current) effect was tend to northeast in the coastal area and the flow in the offshore region showed results similar to TWC. To understand of HAB's movement, released each area that southern Kamak bay(Case 1), Mijo coast(Case 2), and southern Mireukdo coast(Case 3) assumption that red tide occurred. The areas where the HAB occurs frequently. As a result of HAB occurred in southern Kamak Bay(Case 1), mainly drifts to Narodo coast and Yeoja bay that located on the west side. Case 2 was mainly drifts to Yokjido coast and Saryangdo coast Especially, HAB occurred in Mireukdo coast(Case 3) relatively many particles drift to eastward as the influence of the TWC.

Detection of Hepatic Lesion: Comparison of Free-Breathing and Respiratory-Triggered Diffusion-Weighted MR imaging on 1.5-T MR system (국소 간 병변의 발견: 1.5-T 자기공명영상에서의 자유호흡과 호흡유발 확산강조 영상의 비교)

  • Purpose : To compare free-breathing and respiratory-triggered diffusion-weighted imaging on 1.5-T MR system in the detection of hepatic lesions. Materials and Methods: This single-institution study was approved by our institutional review board. Forty-seven patients (mean 57.9 year; M:F = 25:22) underwent hepatic MR imaging on 1.5-T MR system using both free-breathing and respiratory-triggered diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) at a single examination. Two radiologists retrospectively reviewed respiratory-triggered and free-breathing sets (B50, B400, B800 diffusion weighted images and ADC map) in random order with a time interval of 2 weeks. Liver SNR and lesion-to-liver CNR of DWI were calculated measuring ROI. Results : Total of 62 lesions (53 benign, 9 malignant) that included 32 cysts, 13 hemangiomas, 7 hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs), 5 eosinophilic infiltration, 2 metastases, 1 eosinophilic abscess, focal nodular hyperplasia, and pseudolipoma of Glisson's capsule were reviewed by two reviewers. Though not reaching statistical significance, the overall lesion sensitivities were increased in respiratory-triggered DWI [reviewer1: reviewer2, 47/62(75.81%):45/62(72.58%)] than free-breathing DWI [44/62(70.97%):41/62(66.13%)]. Especially for smaller than 1 cm hepatic lesions, sensitivity of respiratory-triggered DWI [24/30(80%):21/30(70%)] was superior to free-breathing DWI [17/30(56.7%):15/30(50%)]. The diagnostic accuracy measuring the area under the ROC curve (Az value) of free-breathing and respiratory-triggered DWI was not statistically different. Liver SNR and lesion-to-liver CNR of respiratory-triggered DWI ($87.6{\pm}41.4$, $41.2{\pm}62.5$) were higher than free-breathing DWI ($38.8:{\pm}13.6$, $24.8{\pm}36.8$) (p value < 0.001, respectively). Conclusion: Respiratory-triggered diffusion-weighted MR imaging seemed to be better than free-breathing diffusion-weighted MR imaging on 1.5-T MR system for the detection of smaller than 1 cm lesions by providing high SNR and CNR.

Modeling of Smoke Dispersion through a Long Vertical Duct (장대 수직 환기구를 통한 매연 확산의 모델링 연구)

  • A long vertical duct is an essential installation for extracting smoke to the ground level when a fire occurs in an underground space. Due to the limitations of its basic assumptions, the existing two-layer zone model is unsuitable to model smoke dispersion through a long vertical duct. Therefore, an assessment was made to investigate the applicability of the field model, which is based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD). A similar configuration to the published experimental work was modeled to test the validity. It is clear that under a consistent decision criterion based on the mass fraction, the field model (CFD) is able to predict that the diffusion front progresses up the shaft with exactly the same rate as that in the empirical correlation equation. This result is for better than the mathematically obtained equations in previously published research. Therefore, it can be said that the field model is an excellent option to predict the smoke dispersion through the long vertical shaft.
