  • A geographic survey, which requires much of working hours in the digital mapping process, is consisted with the complementary survey and the attribute survey of topography and topographic features, and depended on the field survey. In previous research, using the location-based image had been recommended for diminishing the workload of field survey and post processing. For this research, we have developed the hardware and software for gathering and processing the location-based images with referencing results from the previous research. Those Geographic surveys were performed using developed system on 1/5,000 map sheets for Si and Gun area, respectively. The results have been evaluated as the mobile geographic survey system were able to replace the large part of field survey, and also the working hours were decreased by 37.5% at Si area. However, the complementary survey was needed for the attributes of topography and topographic features that were occluded by the parked vehicles or located in the areas without entry of vehicles.

  • In this study, tie point observation in aerial triangulation was automated by the image processing methods. The technique includes boundary extraction and We matching processes. The procedures were applied to extract points of Interest and to find their conjugate points in the other images. The image coordinates of the identified points were then used to compute their absolute coordinates. An algorithm was developed in this study for the automation of observation in aerial triangulation, which is a manual process of selecting a tie point and recording the image coordinate of the selected point. The developed algorithm automates this process through the application of a mathematical operator to extract points of interest from an arbitrary image. The root m square error of image coordinates of the developed algorithm is $6.8{\mu}m$, which is close to that of the present analytical method. In a manual environment, the accuracy of the result of a photogrammetric process is heavily dependant on the level of skill and experience of the human operator. No such problem exists in an automated system. Also, as a result of the automated system, the time spent in the observation process could be reduced by a factor of 61.2%, thereby reducing the overall cost.

  • If the damage analysis on river-side facilities such as dam, river bank structures and bridges caused by disasters such as typhoon, flood, etc. becomes available, it can be a great help for disaster recovery and decision-making. In this research, We tried to extract a Digital Surface Model (DSM) and analyze the accuracy from Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) images on river-side facilities. We tried to apply stereo image-based matching technique, then extracted match results were united with one mosaic DSM. The accuracy was verified compared with a DSM derived from LIDAR data. Overall accuracy was around 3m of absolute and root mean square error. As an analysis result, we confirmed that exterior orientation parameters exerted an influence to DSM accuracy. For more accurate DSM generation, accurate EO parameters are necessary and effective interpolation and post process technique needs to be developed. And the damage analysis simulation with DSM has to be performed in the future.

  • This paper proposes a camera motion estimation technique using special relations of motion vectors of geometrically symmetrical triple points of two consecutive views of single camera. The proposed technique uses camera-induced motion vectors and their relations other than feature points and epioplar constraints. As contrast to the time consuming iterations or numerical methods in the calculation of E-matrix or F-matrix induced by epipolar constraints, the proposed technique calculates camera motion parameters such as panning, tilting, rolling, and zooming at once by applying the proposed linear equation sets to the motion vectors. And by devised background discriminants, it effectively reflects only the background region into the calculation of motion parameters, thus making the calculation more accurate and fast enough to accommodate MPEG-4 requirements. Experimental results on various types of sequences show the validity and the broad applicability of the proposed technique.

  • AVM(Around View Monitoring) is a function of ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), which provides a bird's eye view of the surroundings of a vehicle to the user. AVM systems require large bandwidth since they are composed of four input images and require real-time processing for vehicle-embedded environments. Also, the memory bandwidth requirement increases greatly when the resolution of the input data is higher. In this paper, we propose four basic hardware models of AVM systems. The models are decided by whether or not there is a valid data extraction module and an image processing purpose LUT generation module. We analyze the required bandwidth and hardware resource for each model. For verification of the proposed models, we implemented an AVM system using XC7Z045 FPGA and DDR3 memory for VGA and FHD resolution. All four of the proposed hardware model is executed below 33ms, which shows that it can operate in real-time.

  • Given the mountainous nature of Korea, cutting slopes are bound to happen. Every you, slope failures lead to enormous human and material losses. More recently, reckless development and subsequent degradation of forests has brought about soil erosion, which coupled with heavy rainfall, contaminates rivers, raises the level of river bottoms and thereby deteriorates their discharge capacity. In Korea, environmental impact assessments and disaster impact assessments have been conducted to come up with proper countermeasures. In order to perform quantitative analysis for this purpose, reliable slope information is quintessential. This study aims to obtain slope-related digital images using an RC model helicopter with a non-metric camera embedded, and to process these images to gain more accurate slope information. To this end, digital images obtained regarding cutting slopes were processed to gain numerical information of slopes and, on the basis of slope information gained here, reliable soil erosion factors were estimated.

  • This paper proposes a vision-based food recognition method for automated production of custom cakes. A small camera module mounted on a food art printer recognizes objects' shape and estimates their center points through image processing. Through the perspective transformation, the top-view image is obtained from the original image taken at an oblique position. The line and circular hough transformations are applied to recognize square and circular shapes respectively. In addition, the center of gravity of each figure are accurately detected in units of pixels. The test results show that the shape recognition rate is more than 98.75% under 180 ~ 250 lux of light and the positioning error rate is less than 0.87% under 50 ~ 120 lux. These values sufficiently meet the needs of the corresponding market. In addition, the processing delay is also less than 0.5 seconds per frame, so the proposed algorithm is suitable for commercial purpose.

  • Drug delivery in human upper airway was studied by the numerical simulation of oral airflow. We created an anatomically accurate upper airway model from CT scan data by using a medical image processing software (Mimics). The upper airway was composed of oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea, and second generations of branches. Thin sliced CT data and meticulous refinement of model surface under the ENT doctor's advice provided more sophisticated nasal cavity models. With this 3D upper airway models, numerical simulation was conducted by ANSYS/FLUENT. The steady inspiratory airflows in that model was solved numerically for the case of flow rate of 250 mL/s with drug-laden spray(Q= 20, 40, 60 mL/s). Optimal parameters for mechanical drug aerosol targeting of predetermined areas was to be computed, for a given representative upper airways. From numerical flow visualization results, as flow-rate of drug-laden spray increases, the drag spray residue in oral cavity was increased and the distribution of drug spray in trachea and branches became more homogeneous.

  • The primary purpose of this study is to determine NDVI analysis methodologies for green algae monitoring system. A fixed wing UAV integrated with multi-spectral sensor has been adopted to capture the images along the watershed in Gumgang River. The study area was near the Baekje water reservoir and the images was captured on July 2016. Pix4D Mapper Pro was used to process the captured images. Through the comparison actual chlorophyll measurement values with NDVI output image, empirical formula was suggested and geo-locational conversion was carried out. As a result of this study chlorophyll image set applied to actual measurement values was able to extracted. For the efficient management of green algae, its monitoring and prevention in terms of disaster management, gathering chlorophyll information using UAV is very beneficial.
