In this study, an assessment method was proposed to evaluate the pullout resistance between geosynthetic and backill soil by using a stress-strain relationship of the orthotropic composite material subjected to both longitudinal and vertical loadings. For this analysis friction characteristics of geosynthetic-soil and stress-strain relationships subjected to soil confined pressure were investigated by performing the laboratory pullout tests for three types of geosynthetics and performing the confined extension tests far seven types of geosynthetics having geotextiles, composite geosynthetics and geogrids. A comparison was made between unconfined an confined moduli far each geosynthetic material to quantify the soil confinement effect on stress-strain properties. A comparison was also made between the relative increase of moduli at the same strain level among the seven geosynthetic materials to demonstrate the different responses of these geosynthetic materials under soil confinement. Based on the proposed procedure, it was shown that values of the increased tensile force are applicable fur the evaluation of friction strengths between five types of geosynthetics and sands in light of the soil confinement effect.

The explicit scheme for finite element analysis of sheet metal forming problems has been widely used for providing practical solutions since it improves the convergency problem, memory size and computational time especially for the case of complicated geometry and large element number. The explicit schemes in general use are based on the elastic-plastic modeling of material requiring large computataion time. In the present work, a basic formulation for rigid-plastic explicit finite element analysis of plain strain sheet metal forming problems has been proposed. The effect of some basic parameters involved in the dynamic analysis has been studied in detail. Thus, the effective ranges of parameters have been proposed for numerical simultion by the rigid-plastic explicit finite element method. A direct trial-and-error method is introduced to treat contact and friction. In computation, sheet material is assumed to possess normal anisotropy and rigid-plastic workhardening characteristics. In order to show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed explicit scheme, computations are carried out for cylindrical punch stretching and the computational results are compared with those by the implicit scheme as well as with a commercial code. The proposed rigid-plastic exlicit finite element method can be used as a robust and efficient computational method for analysis of sheet metal forming.
Magnetic garnet films of (YSmLuCa)$_3$(FeGe)$\_$5/O$\_$12/ have been grown by the liquid phase eqitaxy method on the substrate of non-magnetic garnet Gd$_3$Ga$\_$5/O$\_$12/. The variation of Sm ion concentration were varied 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, mole/formula unit respectively. The magnetic properties of the samples for the bubble magnetic materials, such as, line width ΔH of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR), magnetic saturation induction 4$\pi$Ms, wall mobility u$\_$w/ uniaxial magnetic anisotropy energy Ku, were measured and discussed the relations between these properties. The line width ΔH decreases with increasing 4$\pi$Ms, and with decreasing Sm concentration. The anisotropy energy Ku increases not only with increasing Sm ion concentration, but also increasing 4$\pi$Ms. The value of wall mobility u$\_$w/ increase with increasing 4$\pi$Ms and decreases with increasing Sm concentration. We define a physical constant Eι from the fact that the product of 4$\pi$Ms and ΔH is constant with dimension of energy density. The Eι is dependent only on Sm concentration.density. The Eι is dependent only on Sm concentration.

Coptp films with the additive elements (X=Fe, Mn) of varying concentrations were prepared by in-situ electrodeposition, to tailor their magnetic properties. Alloys of CoPtP-X (X=Fe, Mn) were synthesized by changing the solution concentrations of Fe and Mn for electrodeposition. In the electrodeposited CoFePtP alloys, preferred orientation of the electrodeposited films changed from hexagonal (001) to (100) direction with increasing iron contents as revealed by X-ray diffraction, and these films exhibited various magnetic properties ranging from a typical hard magnetic to a soft magnetic property in accordance with microstructural variations. In the case of Mn addition, excellent hard magnetic property was observed at a specific Mn concentration of 0.0126 M in the electrolyte, with the coercivity of 4630 Oe and squareness of 0.856 and this was attributed to the fact that magnetization easy-axis (hexagonal c-axis) coincides with the preferred growth orientation of the film confirmed by transmission electron microscopy.
The Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag hydrothermal vein-type deposits which comprise the Sambong mine occur within calc-alkaline volcanics of the Cretaceous Gyeongsang Basin. The ore mineralization took place through three distinct stages of quartz (I and II stages) and calcite veins (III stage) which fill the pre-existing fault breccia zones. These stages were separated in time by tectonic fracturing and brecciation events. The reflection variations of one mineral depending on mineralization sequence are considered to be resulted from variation in its chemical composition due to different physico-chemical conditions in the hydrothermal system. The reflection power of sphalerite increases with the content of Fe substituted for Zn. Reflectances of the sphalerite grain are lower on (111) than on (100) surface. The spectral profiles depend on the internal reflection color. Sphalerite, showing green, yellow and reddish brown internal reflection, have the highest reflection power at $544m{\mu}$ (green), $593m{\mu}$ (yellow) and $615m{\mu}$ (red) wavelength, respectively. Chalcopyrite is recognized as biaxial negative from the reflectivity data of randomly oriented grains measured at the most sensitivity at $544m{\mu}$. The microindentation hardness against the Fe content (wt. %) for the sphalerite increases to 8.05% Fe and then decreases toward 9.5% Fe content. Vickers hardness of the sphalerite is considerably higher on surface of (100) than on (111). The relationship between Vickers hardness and crystal orientation of the galena was determined to be $VHN_{(111)}$ > $VHN_{(210)}$ > $VHN_{(100)}$. The softer sulfides have the wider variation of the diagonal length in the indentation. Diagonal length in the indentation is pyrite
The first magnetotelluric (MT) transect across the Korean Peninsula was obtained traversing from the East Sea shoreline to the Yellow Sea shoreline. The MT survey profile was designed perpendicular to the strike of the principal geologic structure of the Korean Peninsula $(N30^{\circ}E)$, so-called 'China direction'. MT data were achieved at 50 sites with spacings of $3{\sim}8km$ along the 240 km survey line. The impedance responses are divided into four subsets reflecting typical geological units: the Kyonggi Massif, the Okchon Belt, the western part of the Kyongsang Basin, and the eastern part of the Kyongsang Basin. In the western part of the Kyongsang Basin, the thickness of the sedimentary layer is estimated to be about 3 km to 8 km and its resistivity is a few hundred ohm-m. A highly conductive layer with a resistivity of 1 to 30 ohm-m was detected beneath the sedimentary layer. The MT data at the Okchon Belt show peculiar responses with phase exceeding $90^{\circ}$. This feature may be explained by an electrically anisotropic structure which is composed of a narrow anisotropic block and an anisotropic layer. The Kyonggi Massif and the eastern part of Kyongsang Basin play a role of window to the deep geoelectrical structure because of the very high resistivity of upper crust. The second layers with highest resistivities in 1-D conductivity models occupy the upper crust with thicknesses of 13 km in the Kyonggi Massif and 18 km in the eastern Kyongsang Basin, respectively.

A series of three-dimensional numerical simulations using a generalized multidimensional hydrodynamic dispersion numerical model is performed to simulate effectively and to evaluate quantitatively impacts of fault existence on densitydependent groundwater flow and salt transport in coastal aquifer systems. A series of steady-state numerical simulations with calibration is performed first for an actual coastal aquifer system which contains a major fault. A series of steadystate numerical simulations is then performed for a corresponding coastal aquifer system which does not have such a major fault. Finally, the results of both numerical simulations are compared with each other and analyzed. The results of the numerical simulations show that the major fault produces hydrogeologically significant heterogeneity and true anisotropy in the actual coastal aquifer system, and density-dependent groundwater flow, salt transport, and seawater intrusion patterns in the coastal aquifer systems are intensively and extensively dependent upon the existence or absence of such a major fault. Especially, the major fault may act as a pathway for groundwater flow and salt transport along the direction parallel to its plane, while it may also behave as a barrier against groundwater flow and salt transport along the direction perpendicular to its plane.

The variation of groundwater level near the Shingok weir has been analyzed. To consider the soil inhomogeneity, coefficient of effective permeability was computed to be 0.313 m/day in the horizontal direction, and 0.0423 m/day in vertical direction. Anisotropic ratio is 7.19. The river water level drawdown (caused by the removing of the weir) causes the groundwater level drawdown, and 3 months are required for the new steady condition. and groundwater flows from Han river toward Gulpo stream before the removing of the weir, but when the weir removed, the flow direction changes. The groundwater level falls maximum 30 cm in the areas under the influence of Han river, but, in the areas near Kulpo stream, groundwater level falls about 10 cm. The amount of groundwater use in the study area was investigated to be $52m^3/day$ and in this condition, groundwater level falls maximum 1m (before or after the removing of Shingok weir). therefore, the variation of groundwater level caused by the removing of Shingok weir is less than that caused by the usual use of groundwater.
The Stone Monument of Taejong King in Heonreung Royal Tomb, Seoul was originally erected in 1424 to pay a tribute to Bang Won Lee's achievement who was named Taejong, the Third King of Joseon Dynasty. The monument has been damaged by Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592 so that another monument was newly made and erected together with the original monument in 1695. The original monument was made of medium-grained biotite granite for the turtle base and medium-grained milky white crystalline limestone for the stele body and the top stone. The turtle base of the original monument is destroyed beyond the original shape and inscription due to irregular shaped breaking and a set of longitudinal crack. Analyzing the deterioration degree by using nondestructive methods, the 88 percentage of the front area and 38 percentage of the back area of the monument are damaged, and the lower part of the stele body is dominantly deteriorated especially due to the combination of discoloration and physical deterioration. The new monument in 1695 is also made of granite and limestone. The weathering indices of the turtle base and stele body stones by the calculation from ultrasonic velocity are 0.10 and 0.74, respectively. This is because the original monument is presumed to be degraded by heat shock and physical attack during the Japanese war, and the long-term outdoor exposure accelerated the weathering of the monument afterward without protective shelter.
