Movement of falling spheres in open-channel flow (개수로 흐름에서 구체의 침강이동)

  • 호우 시 산지하천 유역에서 빈발하는 토석류에 따라 하천 흐름에 들어온 전석과 같이 상대적으로 큰 물체는 하류로 이송되거나 하상에 퇴적하여 기존 흐름과 하상을 변화시키는 교란요인이 된다. 따라서 산지하천 흐름에서 전석의 영향을 예측하는 것이 필요하나 이는 유속, 전석의 크기와 형상, 유입조건, 부유사 농도 등 수 많은 변수들에 영향을 받기 때문에 그 경로를 정확히 예측하기 어렵다. 이 연구는 유리와 철로 된 구형물체가 개수로 흐름에서 이동하는 경로를 조사한 것이며 흐름의 수심, 물체의 크기와 초기침강조건을 고려하여 수리실험을 실시하고 물체의 이동경로와 유하거리를 분석하였다. 개수로 흐름에 유입한 구형 물체는 침강에 의한 항력과 유수에 의한 항력을 동시에 받는다. 이 힘은 물체의 형상, 유수의 점성, 난류, 물체와 물의 밀도차가 복합적으로 작용한 결과이며 구체의 이동경로와 시간을 좌우한다. 실험결과 개수로 흐름에서 낙하중인 구형물체는 하상에 가까워질수록 흐름방향 이동거리가 증가하였다. 물체의 수중무게가 작을수록 유수 중에서 체류하는 시간이 길고 이동거리가 더 크며, 구체에 작용하는 초기항력에 따라 초기 낙하각도와 이동거리가가 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

Granulation Characteristics of Mono-granular NPK(10-0-30) Fertilizer Incorporated with Rock-Phosphate Powder and its Effects on Tobacco Plant (인광석분말을 증량제로 사용한 연초(煙草)재배용 복합비료(10-0-30)의 조립(造粒)특성 및 비효)

  • Fertilizer granulation test was carried out by a small pan granulator. A premixture composed of SOP 60%, urea 22% and RP powder 18% was rolled in the pan granulator while 10% phosphoric acid solution(binder) was sprayed on the rolling powder bed. Granules were developed very fast along with a little amount of binder. Hardness, brittle ratio in water and hygroscopicity of granules were improved enough to evaluate physical properties of the fertilizer. Growth responses of tobacco plant to the fertilizer were investigated at seedling and flowering stage by pot experiment under plastic film roof. Seedlings showed poor growth at nursery pot cell. In virgin soil with deficient available phosphate tobacco plant showed poor growth until budding and flowering stage but good growth in tillage soil with high cumulative phosphate.

  • This paper studies the behavior of mooring line of silt protector according to the change of sea level. It is found from the analysis of the behavior that if the taut cable length has been determined appropriately within the range of safety factor, the tensioned cable has almost constant tension regardless of the water depth. The whole structure, however, becomes unstable due to the loss (zero tension) of the released cable tension. It is also recognized from the investigation for the effect of intial straight line angle on the behavior of mooring line that the design through the conceptually combined consideration of the cable tension, total scope and buoy deflection has to be required in the mooring analysis. Finally, the material of cable is not damaged because the cable tension is reduced by attached shellfish, but the whole structure may be also unstable by the effect on the anchor angle, total scope and buoy deflection.

  • In this paper, the optimization has been performed to design a multi-layer structure that is used as a structure for noise reduction of acoustic sonar sensors in underwater vehicles. Two design goals are considered to reduce self-noise from own machineries and to enhance acoustic signals detected from outside. Both distinct and continuous design parameters have been used such as selection of material properties of each layer and thickness of each layer, respectively. The sensitivity of design parameters has been analyzed and the evolutionary algorithm has been implemented for design optimization. For design optimization process, each of the design goals and the two combined design goals have been considered to analyze the achievement of those design goals.

  • Initial alignment and localization are important topics in inertial navigation systems, since misalignment and initial position error wholly propagate into the navigation systems and deteriorate the performance of the systems. This paper presents the error convergence characteristics of the hybrid navigation system for underwater vehicles initial position, which is based on an inertial measurement unit (IMU) accompanying a range sensor. This paper demonstrates the improvement on the navigational performance oj the hybrid system with the range information, especially focused on the convergence of the estimation of underwater vehicles initial position error. Simulations are performed with experimental data obtained from a rotating ann test with a fish model. The convergence speed and condition of the initial error removal for random initial position errors are examined with Monte Carlo simulation. In addition, numerical simulation is conducted with an AUV model in lawn-mowing survey mode to illustrate the error convergence of the hybrid navigation System for initial position error.

  • 낙동강은 4대강 살리기 사업에 의해 8개의 보(상주보, 낙단보, 칠곡보, 강정보, 달성보, 합천보, 함안보)가 하천 내에 건설되고 약 4억톤의 준설이 실시되면서 지형적으로 막대한 변화를 맞이하게 된다. 낙동강은 상류의 안동댐 및 임하댐에서 방류수, 중류의 구미 및 대구 등의 오염원 그리고 하류의 남강에 의한 영향 및 낙동강 하구언에 의한 정체에 의한 영향으로 지역적으로 수질 및 수리 특성이 서로 다르게 나타나고 있다. 낙동강에 건설되는 수중보들 또한 이러한 유입 및 경계 조건에 따라 서로 다른 수질특성을 나타낼 것으로 판단되며 이에 대한 영향을 미리 예측하고 발생 가능한 악영향에 대한 대안을 수립하는 것이 중요하다고 본다. 본 연구에서는 낙동강의 4대강 사업에 의한 지점별 및 시기적 영향을 정확하게 분석하기 위해 3차원 수리동역학 모델 EFDC와 수질모델 WASP을 연계하여 사용하였다. 연구대상지역은 안동댐 방류지점에서 낙동강 하구역까지의 총 334km의 지역을 포함하였으며 하천의 폭 방향, 수심방향 및 흐름방향에 대하여 3차원으로 격자를 구성하여 하천을 표현하였다. 수리 및 수질 보정에 필요 한 입력자료는 국토해양부 및 환경부 등에서 발표 된 자료를 이용하였으며 2007년을 기준으로 모의를 실시하였다. 4대강 살리기 사업에 의한 8개의 보 건설 및 낙동강 전역의 준설의 영향을 예측하여 사업 전 및 사업 후로 각각 구분하여 비교하였으며 사업 후 체류시간의 증가와 준설로 인한 수심증가에 따른 복합적인 원인에 의해 수질에 영향이 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 사업 후 낙동강의 각 수중보 출구 부근 지점에서 예측된 수질 특성은 사업전에 비하여 $BOD_5$는 전반적으로 감소하나, TN 및 TP 는 유사한 특성을 나타내었다. 그러나 Chl-a 농도는 상류와 중류에서는 체류시간의 증가로 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으며 이는 수질이 양호한 상류 지역에서 특히 큰 차이를 나타내는 경향으로 분석되었다. 그러나 낙동강 하구언 지역은 Chl-a 농도가 사업에 의해 약간 감소되는 경향을 나타내어 여타 구간과 다른 경향을 나타내었다. 이는 낙동강 하류의 Chl-a 농도가 이미 매우 높은 상태에서 체류시간에 의한 성장 촉진 보다는 수심증가로 인한 광량제한 효과가 더욱 지배적으로 나타난 것에 의한 영향으로 추정된다.

Irregular Wave Model for Youngil Bay (영일만의 불규칙파 모형)

  • The waves are most important dynamical factors for the analyses of structural stability and topographical changes on coastal engineering field. However, wind-generated waves are very irregular in shape and transformed through refraction, diffraction and shoaling when they propagate into shallow water where bottom topography and water depth vary significantly. Recently, Vincent and Briggs (1989) reported hydraulic model experiments for the transformation of monochromatic and directionally-spread irregular waves passing over a submerged elliptical mound. They concluded that for the case of combined refraction-diffraction of waves by a shoal, the propagation characteristics of the irregular and equivalent regular wave conditions can be vastly different. On the irregular wave transformation have been made theoretical and numerical studies for several years. Although theoretical and laboratory studies on wave transformation have progressed considerably, field measurement and comparison of numerical results with related theories are still necessary for the prediction of the phenomena in reality. In this study, field measurement of both incident and transformed waves in Youngil Bay were made using various kinds of equipments, and numerical computations were made on the transformed frequency spectra of large waves propagating over the shoal using Chae and Jeong's (1992) elliptic model. It is shown that this model results agree very well with field data, and thus the applicability of the model is now validated.

  • Undersea bases built in the deep sea are built in more extreme environments than in space. In addition, it requires the convergence of mechanics, electronics, shipbuilding, meteorology, and diving science, marine physics, chemistry, biology, and geology. Undersea base can be constructed through the fusion of various technologies. The development of extreme technology for undersea construction will be the most advanced technology in each field, and it will be applied to space and other fields, so it will be an opportunity to preempt the latest technology.

Studies on the Removal of Volatile Organic Compounds in Wastewater using PTMSP/PDMS-PEI Composite Membrane by Pervaporation (PTMSP/PDMS-PEI 복합막을 이용한 폐수중의 휘발성 유기화합물 제거에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve flux of PTMSP/PDMS dense membrane, PTMSP/PDMS-PEI composite membrane with PEI support was prepared by phase inversion process and dip coating. These membranes were evaluated in terms of the removal of volatile organic compounds such as PCE, TCE, chloroform, 1,1,1-trichloroethane from wastewater by pervaporation. The selectivity and flux of PTMSP/PDMS dense membranes was in the range of 216.2 to 2394.4 and 244.3 to 428.2g/m2h, respectively. And pervaporation property of PTMSP/PDMS-PEI composite membrane was in the range of 215.5 to 2404.2 and 390.4 to 728.6g/m2h, respectively. PTMSP/PDMS-PEI composite membrane has remarkably greater flux than dense membranes with similar selectivity. It was possible for polymeric membranes used in this study to remove PCE selectively which is dissolved small quantity in water among other separable solutes. PTMSP/PDMS-PEI composite membrane showed the best performances among the silicone polymeric membranes, and has better durability and mechanical strength than dense membranes. PTMSP/PDMS-PEI composite membrane should be a useful candidate for the removal of volatile organic compounds dissolved in wastewater.

  • This study was carried out in order to develop a compound fertilizer for raising rice seedling in trays. A compound fertilizer, a trail product, was manufactured using the major fertilizer sources of ammonium sulfate, diammonium phosphate and potassium chloride in combination with zeolite and glutamic acid fermentation waste. Besides, polyacrylamide for slow release control of the fertilzer and Tachigaren and sulfuric acid for reducing the occurrence of seedling rot were used. The component ratios of N, $P_2O_5$ and $K_2O$ of trial product were 4.19, 5.41 and 4.05 percent respectively. The dissolution rate of nitrogen component in water for the trial product with polyacrylamide was lower about fifteen percents than the product without polyacylamide in six hours. Hymexazole, main component of Thachigaren, from the product was released about 86.2 percents in forty eight hours. When the product with polyacylamide applied on red earth soil and paddy soil, the pH of soil ranged from 4.6 to 5.4 for 25 days experiment.
