Absorption of Heavy Metals of Waste Leachate Using by Fast Growing Trees(II) (속성수를 이용한 쓰레기 매립지 침출수의 오염물질 흡수제거(II))

  • To identify the rapacity of waste leachate absorption in Populus euramericana and Betula platyphylla var, japonica, four different treatments were applied to seedlings: leachate solution (100% leachate), 50% dilution (50% leachate: 50% water, v/v) and 25% dilution, (25% leachate: 75% water, v/v) were applied to these two species. After the experiment, concentrations of heavy metals in tree parts were analyzed by an Inductively Coupled Plasma emission spectrometer (ICP). treatment with waste leachate significantly stimulated both Populus euramericana and Betula platyphylla var. japonica biomass production relative to the water control. In addition, these species showed good absorption capacity of As, Co, Hg and Ni elements. The results of this study suggested that these two species can absorb the toxic materials through their roots and transport them to stems or leaves.

Variations on the Concentration of Dissolved Gaseous Mercury(DGM) at the Juam Reservoir, Korea (주암호의 용존가스상 수은의 농도변화 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The reduction of $Hg^{2+}$ in the aqueous phase results in the production of dissolved gaseous mercury(DGM), and the volatilization of DGM has been identified as an important mechanism for the loss of Hg from waterbodies to the atmosphere. Although mercury emission in the world is known to be mostly from Asia, there have been few studies of measuring DGM concentrations in lakes in Asia. In this study, DGM concentrations were measured at Juam reservoir($35^{\cir}00'N,\;127^{\circ}14'E$), Korea. The results showed that the average concentrations of DGM at the upper and down stream of the lake during summer time were $95{\pm}8\;and\;130{\pm}15$ pg/L, respectively and the concentration of total mercury(TM) at the upper and down stream was $2.1{\pm}0.7,\;1.7{\pm}0.3$ ng/L respectively. Average DGM concentration during summer time($101{\pm}14pg/L$) was approximately 5.5 times higher than that during fall($18{\pm}0.1pg/L$). The DGM concentrations ai the midstream decreased from 32 to 13.7 pg/L during rain event, while the TM concentrations increased from 2.2 ng/L to 2.7 ng/L indicating the deposition of mercury from the atmosphere. Also, the diurnal patterns between DGM concentrations and UV intensities were observed. Water temperatures and DOC concentrations were significantly related to DGM concentrations, while TM concentrations were negatively related to DGM concentrations(p<0.0001). Comparing with the study of Dill et al.,(2006) the average concentrations of DGM $(109{\pm}15pg/L)\;and\;TM(2.2{\pm} 0.4ng/L)$ at Juam reservoir were approximately 3 and 2.2 times higher than those measured in other lakes(DGM: $38{\pm}16pg/L$, TM: $1.0{\pm}1.2ng/L$).

  • Wistar albino rats were injected subcutaneously with mercuric chloride (5 mg/kg) to define the early biochemical determinants that participate in the pathogenesis of mercuric chloride-induced hepatotoxicity, especially focusing on oxygen free radicals, we studied malondialdehyde(MDA) level and the activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase in the liver of rats at 24, 48 and 72 hr after the injection of mercuric chloride. MDA levels at 24, 48 and 72 hr after the injection of mercuric chloride increased as compared with that of control group. The activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase at 24, 48 and 72hr after the injection of mercuric chloride decreased as compared with that of control group. These results suggest that the depression of the activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase resulting from excessive oxygen free radicals is an important determinant in pathogenesis of mercuric chloride-induced hepatotoxicity.

  • In this paper, we implement the network image control system in which a wireless robot with a built camera monitors the dangerous place where human cannot approach. In the proposed network image control system, the noise occurred in wireless communication is reduced by implementing the noise eliminating circuit and the driving time of a wireless robot is increased by adopting the mercury battery. By constructing the image control network with the Internet, the image is monitored controled in the remote site with a wireless robot.

  • A study on the removal of mercury and lead by microorganisms, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Aureobasidium pullulans, was performed, in which the comparison of adsorption model between these two heavy metals was done. The amounts of mercury removed were more than those of lead in both microorganisms. In case of mercury, the adsorption isotherm of S. cerevisiae was accorded with Langmuir model but A. pullulans was followed to Freundlich model. In the case of lead, however, the adsorption isotherm had opposite results. The adsorption rate of mercury to S. cerevisiae was faster than that of A. pullulans, but in the case of lead, it revealed contrary results. It seems, therefore, that the type of microorganisms used as biosorbents should be selected differently with the type of heavy metals removed for applying these to real adsorption process.

  • Removal of elemental mercury $(Hg^0)$ with the reactive species produced from dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) was studied. We investigated the effect of operating parameters such as the applied voltage, residence time, initial concentration and co-existence of other pollutants. The removal of $(Hg^0)$ was significantly promoted by an increase in the applied voltage of the DBD reactor system. It is important to note that at the same input power, the removal efficiency of $(Hg^0)$ was much higher than that of NO gas. These results imply that if the DBD system is used as a NOx treatment facility, it is capable of removing $(Hg^0)$ simultaneously with NOx.

  • 기체혼합물의 분리및 정제기술은 에너지 절약의 관점과 새로운 기능성 고분자의 개발로 고분자막에 의한 분리법이 관심을 끌게되었다. 공기로부터 산소부화, 방사성 크세논 및 크립론의 제거, 제련소 폐가스증의 수소분리, 천연가스로부터 헬륨의 회수분야등은 실제로 산업적으로 실용화되고 있다. 그러나 고분자막은 일반적으로 투과성과 선택성이 서로 상반되는 경향을 나타내므로, 투과성과 분리성이 좋은 기능성 고분자막의 개발에 다양한 연구가 필요로 하고있다. 본 연구에서 사용한 PTFE(polytetrafluoroethylene)는 결정성 고분자로서 넓은 온도범위에서 낮은 마찰계수, 우수한 전기적 절연특성, 강한 Carbon-fluorine 겹합에 기인한 높은 열적 안정성, 화확적 불활성때문에 공업용 고분자 재료로서 독특한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 최근에 미국과 일본을 주축으로 상용화딘 공기전지(Zinc-air battery)는 PTFE막의 뛰어난 소수성과 화학적 저항성으로 수은 전지의 대체품으로 주목받고 있는데, 장기 방전시 성능 저하가 따르므로 막을 통한 산소투과성을 방전에 필요한 최소값으로 감소시키는 것이 중요한 과제가 되고있다.

  • After removal of mercury in the silver oxide batteries with the distillation process, the leaching of valuable metals from the residue was studied. The distilled residue was reacted with the various HNO, concentration, reactlon temperature, readion time and pulp density. It was found that the optimum condition for leachmg was 2N HNO,, 40-60% reaction temperature, 6 hours reaction tlme and 10g/200ml pulp density. More than 99% of silver and zinc were dissolved in this process while less than 50% of iron and nickel were leached

A Study on the Treatment of Heavy Metal in Wastewater by Redox Reaction of Cu-Zn Metal Alloy and Adsorption reaction of Al-Silicate (Cu-Zn 금속합금의 산화 환원반응과 Al-Silicate의 흡착반응을 이용한 폐수 중 중금속처리에 관한 연구)

  • Heavy metal removal study is conducted from synthetic waste water by reduction and oxidation(redox) reaction of Cu-Zn metal alloy and adsorption reaction of aluminium silicate. Heavy metal whose ionization tendency is smaller than zinc are reducted in an aqueous solution, and the concentration of ionized zinc is reduced by adsorption reaction. The average diameter of metal alloy micro fiber is about $200{\mu}m$, and the surface area is wide enough to get equilibrium in a single cycle treatment. A single cycle treatment of redox reaction of Cu-Zn metal alloy, could remove 100.0 % of Cr(III), 98.0 % of Hg, 92.0 % of Sn and 91.4 % of Cu respectively. An ionization tendency of chromium is very close to zinc, but removal efficiency of chromium by redox reaction is significant. This result shows that trivalent chromium ion is expected to generate hydroxide precipitation with $OH^-$ ion generated by redox reaction. Zinc ion generated by redox reaction is readily removed by adsorption reaction of aluminium silicate in a single cycle treatment. Other heavy metal components which are not perfectly removed by redox reaction also showed very high removal efficiency of 98.0 % or more by adsorption reaction. Aluminium ion is not increased by adsorption reaction of aluminium silicate. That means heavy metal ion removal mechanism by adsorption reaction is turned out to be not an ion exchange reaction, but an adsorption reaction.

바실러스에 의한 중금속 제거 및 EPS 추출물질 비교에 관한 연구

  • 1) 바실러스는 불리한 환경조건에서 포자를 형성하며 포자는 균체가 죽어도 살아 남고, 외부 환경이 좋아지면 다시 발아하여 영양형 균체를 형성하게 된다. 본 연구에서 바실러스를 우점화와 포자의 활성화를 위해 열처리(80$^{\circ}C$, 10min)를 한다 울산분뇨처리장 슬러지 Cake를 배양하여 포자화 전 후 상태의 미생물의 EPS 추출결과 RCF법을 적용하였을 때 Carbohydrate물질이 다른 추출법에 비해 가장 많이 추출되었고, Steaming extraction법을 적용하였을 때 Protein이 가장 많이 추출되는 것으로 나타났으며, 포자화 전 보다 포자화 후의 EPS 양이 더 많이 추출될 것이라는 가설을 가지고 실험한 결과 포자화 전보다 포자화 후의 EPS 양이 더 많이 추출되었다. 울산분뇨처리장의 슬러지 Cake를 배양하여 포자화 전 후의 Cu의 제거정도를 비교한 결과 포자화 후의 EPS물질이 포자화 전의 EPS물질보다 Cu를 더 많이 제거하는 것으로 나타났으며 EPS 물질이 중금속 제거능력이 탁월하다고 할 수 있겠다. 2) 용인분뇨처리장과 천안하수처리장의 MLSS의 중금속 제거능력을 알아보기 위해 미생물량을 고려했을 경우와 미생물량을 고려하지 않은 경우로 나누어서 실험을 하였는데 울산분뇨처리장의 슬러지 Cake를 가지고 실험한 결과와 마찬가지로 Bacillus의 EPS물질이 중금속 제거에 탁월하다는 것을 알 수 있다. 3) Baillus를 사용하는 김천 식품폐수 처리장과 활성슬러지를 사용하는 천안하수처리장과의 EPS 함량을 비교한 결과 김천 식품폐수 처리장의 EPS 물질중 Protein과 Carbohydrate가 천안하수처리장의 활성슬러지보다 더 많은 것으로 나타났다.TEX>, DIN/DIP비 표층수 $23.91\pm3.42$, 저층수 $23.43\pm3.38$이었으며, 전반적으로 해역별 수질기준 I등급 내지는 II등급을 유지하고 있었고, 공간적으로는 외해측으로 갈수록 외해수와 혼합 확산되어 양호한 수질을 나타내었다. 장기적인 변동특성은 세그룹으로 구분되어진다.기 실험결과 용출용매로 증류수와 해수를 이용했을 때, 제강 슬래그에서 용출되는 납, 구리, 카드뮴, 수은의 용출 경향의 차이를 확인할 수 있었고 이에 따라서, 납, 구리, 카드뮴의 용출 유해성은 낮기 때문에 해양구조물로의 제강슬래그 유효이용은 적합할 것으로 판단되었다.im80%$로 계산되었다. 열형광선량계로 측정된 방사선량은 각각 1.8, 1.2, 0.8, 1.2, 0.8 (70 cm 거리) cGy로 측정되었으며, 환자의 복부 표면에서의 서베이메터를 이용한 측정량은 10.9 mR/h였다. 차폐구조물의 사용 시 전체 치료 동안에 태아선량은 약 1 cGy 정도로 평가되었다. 결론 : AAPM Report No.50의 자료에 따르면, 임산부의 방사선 치료 시 태아의 방사선 피폭선량은 5 cGy 이하일 경우에 방사선 피폭에 따른 태아의 위험이 거의 없는 것으로 제시되고 있다. 본원에서 차폐 구조물을 설치하였을 경우에 측정된 태아선량은 약 1 cGy로 측정되었고, 고안된 차폐구조물은 태아에 도달하는 방사선량을 감소시키기에 적합한 설계임이 입증되었다. 아니라 일반종합병원에서도 CTX-M형 ESBL 생성 E. coli와 K. pneumoniae가 존재하며 확산 중임을 시사한다. 앞으로 CTX-M형 ESBL의 만연과 변종 CTX-M형 ESBL의 출연을 감시하기 위한 정기적인 연구와 조사가 필
