  • College students represent a substantial market for fast food restaurant companies. In this sense, this research aims (1) to identify the attributes that influence college students' fast food restaurant selection, (2) to analyze how fast food restaurants perform with regards to those attributes using importance-performance analysis, and (3) to examine which attributes influence college students' satisfaction in a fast food restaurant context. Based on a literature review, 13 attributes that influence college students' fast food restaurant selection were derived. Then, using importance-performance analysis, it was found that among the 13 attributes, college students highly considered seven of them. Additionally, data analysis indicated that, currently, fast food companies perform well with regards to these seven attributes. More importantly, according to multiple regression analysis, among the seven attributes, value-related attributes (price, speed, location, and friendliness) were significantly related to college students' overall satisfaction.

  • The major purpose of this article is to examine what kind of gap exists between mathematically gifted students' probability knowledge and the reality actually applying that knowledge and then analyze the cause of the gap. To attain the goal, 23 elementary mathematically gifted students at the highest level from G region were provided with problem situations internalizing a probability and expectation, and the problems are in series in which conditions change one by one. The study task is in a gaming situation where there can be the most reasonable answer mathematically, but the choice may differ by how much they consider a certain condition. To collect data, the students' individual worksheets are collected, and all the class procedures are recorded with a camcorder, and the researcher writes a class observation report. The biggest reason why the students do not make a decision solely based on their own mathematical knowledge is because of 'impracticality', one of the properties of probability, that in reality, all things are not realized according to the mathematical calculation and are impossible to be anticipated and also their own psychological disposition to 'avoid loss' about their entry fee paid. In order to provide desirable probability education, we should not be limited to having learners master probability knowledge included in the textbook by solving the problems based on algorithmic knowledge but provide them with plenty of experience to apply probabilistic inference with which they should make their own choice in diverse situations having context.

  • This study examined the change in the students' perception of infection after school education. A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 300 dental hygiene students in Kangwon from December 3 to December 4, 2016. The contents of the questionnaire included the general characteristics (5 items), infection-related selection (2 items), infection control recognition (5 items), and infection control behavior (10 items). The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test, one way ANOVA, Chi-square test, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS 24.0. The Cronbach's Alpha was 0.941 and 0.658, respectively. The school year and hospital practice experience had some influence on the change in infection recognition. A total of 127 students (62.6%) who had experience in practicing in hospitals knew more about antibodies. Hand washing was the highest in personal protection, followed by masks. The selection of the infectious control education method showed that the practical training class was high irrespective of the hospital practice experience, and the perceptions of patient-related infections were the greatest explanatory factor in perception after education.

  • Despite the growing importance of socio-scientific issues (SSI), little work has focused on teachers' pedagogical knowledge, and few studies have examined how in-service teachers use and apply SSI-related instructional methods and strategies. Consequently, the purpose of this study was to explore how science teachers with lots of SSI teaching experience determined teaching orientation, selected and revised instructional methods, and devised assessments in science classroom. We used a case study approach aimed at a deep description of these teachers' teaching experiences and employed semi-structured and in-depth interviews with five experienced teachers. Our findings indicate that teaching orientation and learning objectives seemed to influence the selection and modification of instructional strategies and methods. In addition, students' learning experiences or classroom environment were considered and modified in light of achieving these learning objectives. However, introducing SSI into the classroom assessment is not seriously considered by most teachers. This study can provide teachers with useful information when designing and developing SSI classes, taking into account various aspects of the PCK such as learning orientation, instructional methods, learner expereince and curriculum standards.
