  • The purpose of this study were to design and apply a teaching-learning model for flipped learning in elementary school mathematics based on a student's active learning model for mathematics, and then to examine their effects. Finally, this suggests two points to consider when applying flipped learning to young learners. The results of this study are as follows. First, The model showed meaningful results that improved learners' academic achievement. Second, The application of flipped learning, which reflects the characteristics of the mathematics department, gave learners a higher level of satisfaction than traditional classes. Third, as a result of analyzing students' testimonies, it was possible to form a habit of self-study without help of anyone at the desired time and place, and to solve the problem created beforehand with friends so that self-directed learning habit formation and interest in class respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is (1) to present a model for Capstone design class in English education, and (2) to recognize students' performance and perceptions about Capstone design class in English education. The participants were senior students majoring in English education. The Capstone design class model was developed, applied, and evaluated after changing 'English-American Culture' subject to 'Capstone Design for English-American Culture Education.' In this study, the class design, performance procedures, derived topics, and examples of performance outcomes were presented. The classes were also evaluated through an understanding evaluation of English-American culture, task performance and final outcome evaluation, a descriptive satisfaction assessment of students, a lecture evaluation, and a teacher's self-reflection assessment. As the result, the average score of a class that applies Capstone design was higher than that of a class that does not apply the Capstone design. There were many positive opinions regarding the Capstone design class. In addition, the teacher's self-reflection indicated that students should be exposed to such design from the beginning.

  • The objective of this study investigated characteristics and developed the teaching models elements of creativity and personality education in home economics education based on its identity and nature. Above all, I investigated premises and assumptions of creativity and personality education in home economics education through literary consideration, and then found out eighteen creativity and personality elements. Thus, I proposed Practical Problem Solving Learning Model, Creative Problem Solving Learning Model, Inquiry Learning Model, and Role Playing Model(experience study) in 'Clothing and self-expression' unit. The study identified that creativity and personality education meets nature of home economics education and strengthens the basics of the creativity and personality education in home economics education. In the future, I recommend the activation of philosophical debating of the creativity and personality education, various class models of creative and personality education, and follow-up study of the creative and personality education.

  • The purpose of the study is to suggest a standardized teaching-learning model as a method for strengthening the practical effect of the information ethic education for the adolescent, which is practiced in schools as the inter-disciplinary way. A survey was put to teachers and their needs are analyzed. At the same time, in order to draw the practical teaching-learning model, the teaching examples were collected for contesting. Through this process, a bottom-up approach which tries to analyze the actual class examples and generalizes them, the teaching-learning model has been suggested. As a result, another survey was conducted for the investigation of the efficacy of the model between beneficiary group and comparison group. The results are as followings; the experiment group showed a higher index in regard with such items as Information Culture Index, Lesson Satisfaction Degree, and Practice Will than Comparison Group, and the differences are statistically significant. According to the results of the analysis.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of a Chemistry I class based on an artificial intelligence (AI) classification model. To achieve this, the research investigated the development and application of a class utilizing an AI classification model in Chemistry I classes conducted at D High School in Gyeongbuk during the first semester of 2023. After selecting the curriculum content and AI tools, and determining the curriculum-AI integration education model as well as AI hardware and software, we developed detailed activities for the program and applied them in actual classes. Following the implementation of the classes, it was confirmed that students' self-efficacy improved in three aspects: chemistry concept formation, AI value perception, and AI-based maker competency. Specifically, the chemistry classes based on text and image classification models had a positive impact on students' self-efficacy for chemistry concept formation, enhanced students' perception of AI value and interest, and contributed to improving students' AI and physical computing abilities. These results demonstrate the positive impact of the Chemistry I class based on an AI classification model on students, providing evidence of its utility in educational settings.

  • This study investigated the influence of an explicit and reflective modeling instruction on the metamodeling knowledge of fourth-graders. Two fourth-grade classes in an elementary school in Seoul were selected and each class was assigned to an experimental group and a control group, respectively. The experimental group was engaged in explicit and reflective modeling instruction, whereas the control group was engaged in implicit modeling instruction. The two groups were surveyed before and after instruction on the basis of five metamodeling knowledge categories: definition, purpose, design/construction, changeability, and multiplicity. The experimental group showed positive changes in model's meaning, examples, purpose, changeability as well as multiplicity. In contrast, fewer students in the control group understood the meaning of the model and modeling. They also showed limited changes in their understandings with regards to the modeling instruction, and could not expand their understanding of the nature of model and modeling. The findings indicate that an explicit and reflective modeling instruction has positive influence on elementary students' metamodeling knowledge.

  • In a small-scale class, children gradually lose interests in studying and develop negative and passive attitudes in class activities due to the uniform education. Although many cooperative instruction WBI models are studied and designed, there has not been any research on cooperative instruction model appropriate for a small-scale class. In this study, instructors participate in classes, each in connection with other small-scale classes, and WWW based cooperative instruction model, WIEZ, which can affect students' learning attitude on long-term basis, was designed and embodied. Currently, WIEZ is being under experimental test in three schools at Kyung-nam where instructors design classes, and students divided into groups participate in classes in this system.

  • In this study, we designed and implemented a instruction emphasizing mathematical argument for fifth-grade students and analyzed the teaching practices. Through a literature review related to instruction emphasizing mathematical argument, we organized a teaching model of five phases that explain why the general claim that the sum of consecutive odd numbers equals a square number is true: 1) noticing patterns, 2) articulating conjectures, 3) representing through visual model, 4) arguing based on representation, 5) comparing and contrasting. Then, we analyzed the argumentation stream by phases to observe how the instruction emphasizing mathematical argument is implemented in the elementary classroom. Based on the results of this study, we discuss the implications of teaching a mathematical argument in elementary school.

  • Mathematical creativity is essential in school mathematics and mathematics curriculum and ensures the growth of mathematical ability. Therefore mathematics educators try to develop students' creativity via mathematics education for a long time. In special, 2011 revised mathematics curriculum emphasizes mathematical creativity. Yet, it may seem like a vague characterization of mathematical creativity. Furthermore, it is needed to develop the methods for developing the mathematical creativity. So, the goal of this paper is to search for teaching and learning models for developing the mathematical creativity. For this, I discuss about issues of mathematical creativity and extract the factors of mathematical creativity. The factors of mathematical creativity are divided into cognitive factors, affective factors and attitude factors that become the factors of development of mathematical creativity in the mathematical instruction. And I develop 8-teaching and learning models for development of mathematical creativity based on the characters of mathematics and the most recent theories of mathematics education. These models make it crucial for students to develop the mathematical creativity and create the new mathematics in the future.
