Vision-Based Two-Arm Gesture Recognition by Using Longest Common Subsequence (최대 공통 부열을 이용한 비전 기반의 양팔 제스처 인식)

  • In this paper, we present a framework for vision-based two-arm gesture recognition. To capture the motion information of the hands, we perform color-based tracking algorithm using adaptive kernel for each frame. And a feature selection algorithm is performed to classify the motion information into four different phrases. By using gesture phrase information, we build a gesture model which consists of a probability of the symbols and a symbol sequence which is learned from the longest common subsequence. Finally, we present a similarity measurement for two-arm gesture recognition by using the proposed gesture models. In the experimental results, we show the efficiency of the proposed feature selection method, and the simplicity and the robustness of the recognition algorithm.

  • 수화의 인식 및 표현 기술에 대한 관련 연구는 수화 인식을 통한 건청인과의 의사 전달, 가상현실에서의 손동작 인식 등을 대상으로 여러 방면으로의 접근 및 연구 결과를 도출하고 있다. 그러나 이들 연구의 대부분 데스크탑 PC기반의 수신호(Hand signal) 제어 및 수화 - 손 동작 인식에 목적을 두었고 수화 신호의 획득을 위하여 영상장비를 이용하였으며 이를 바탕으로 단어 위주의 수화 인식 및 표현에 중점을 둔 수화 인식 시스템의 구현을 통해 비장애인과의 자유로운 의사소통을 추구하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 햅틱 장치로부터 사용자의 의미있는 수화 제스처를 획득하기 위한 접근 방식을 차세대 착용형 PC 플랫폼 기반의 유비쿼터스 환경으로 확대, 적용시켜 제스처 데이터 입력 모듈로부터 새로운 정보의 획득에 있어 한계성을 극복하고 사용자의 편의를 도모할 수 있는 효율적인 데이터 획득 방안을 제시한다. 또한 퍼지 알고리즘 및 RDBMS 모듈을 이용하여 언제, 어디에서나 사용자의 의미 있는 문장형 수화 제스처를 실시간으로 인식하고 표현하는 수화 제스처 인식기를 구현하였다. 본 논문에서는 수화 제스처 입력 모듈(5th Data Glove System과 $Fastrak{\circledR}$)과 차세대 착용형 PC 플랫폼(embedded I.MX21 board)간의 이격거리를 반경 10M의 타원 형태로 구성하고 규정된 위치로 수화 제스처 데이터 입력모듈을 이동시키면서 5인의 피실험자에 대하여 연속적으로 20회의 반복 실험을 수행하였으며 사용자의 동적 제스처 인식 실험결과 92.2% 평균 인식률을 도출하였다.

  • A collaborative robot(Cobot) is one of the production systems presented in the 4th industrial revolution and are systems that can maximize efficiency by combining the exquisite hand skills of workers and the ability of simple repetitive tasks of robots. Also, research on the development of an efficient interface method between the worker and the robot is continuously progressing along with the solution to the safety problem arising from the sharing of the workspace. In this study, a method for controlling the robot by recognizing the worker's hand signal was presented to enhance the convenience and concentration of the worker, and the safety of the worker was secured by introducing the concept of a safety zone. Various technologies such as robot control, PLC, image processing, machine learning, and ROS were used to implement this. In addition, the roles and interface methods of the proposed technologies were defined and presented for using educational media. Students can build and adjust the educational media system by linking the introduced various technologies. Therefore, there is an excellent advantage in recognizing the necessity of the technology required in the field and inducing in-depth learning about it. In addition, presenting a problem and then seeking a way to solve it on their own can lead to self-directed learning. Through this, students can learn key technologies of the 4th industrial revolution and improve their ability to solve various problems.

  • Gesture recognitions needed for various applications and is now gaining in importance as one method of enabling natural and intuitive human machine communication. In this paper, we propose a real time hand-signal recognition system in 3-dimensional space performs robust, real-time tracking under varying illumination. As compared with the existing method using classical pattern matching, this system is efficient with respect to speed and also presents more systematic way of defining hand-signals and developing a hand-signal recognition system. In order to verify the proposed method, we developed a virtual driving system operated by hand-signals.

  • In this paper, we newly propose a wireless optical identification system and carried out experiments. A wireless optical identification system consists of a reader and a transponder. The configuration of a reader is the same as that of a transponder, which uses LED light as transmission media and detects the signal light with a solar cell. Optical alignment with a lens is not required because the absorption area of a solar cell is wide and flat, and it is very easy to attach a solar cell on the surface of an object. As the light wavelength does not interfere with radio frequency, a wireless optical identification system shows stable operation. In experiments, we realized a wireless optical identification system that automatically identifies the transponder data at a distance of 1 m using solar cells.

Robot User Control System using Hand Gesture Recognizer (수신호 인식기를 이용한 로봇 사용자 제어 시스템)

  • This paper proposes a robot control human interface using Markov model (HMM) based hand signal recognizer. The command receiving humanoid robot sends webcam images to a client computer. The client computer then extracts the intended commanding hum n's hand motion descriptors. Upon the feature acquisition, the hand signal recognizer carries out the recognition procedure. The recognition result is then sent back to the robot for responsive actions. The system performance is evaluated by measuring the recognition of '48 hand signal set' which is created randomly using fundamental hand motion set. For isolated motion recognition, '48 hand signal set' shows 97.07% recognition rate while the 'baseline hand signal set' shows 92.4%. This result validates the proposed hand signal recognizer is indeed highly discernable. For the '48 hand signal set' connected motions, it shows 97.37% recognition rate. The relevant experiments demonstrate that the proposed system is promising for real world human-robot interface application.

  • In this paper, the modem based on EIA-709.2-A PL of powerline communication techniques which are considered to be important technologies for in-home control network systems was implemented via VHDL. In order to have the robust properties against existing noises over powerline channels, the information data using eight symbols was transmitted by transmitter and the receiver is composed of matched filter, averager, decision and detection parts in order to detect the right data from the received signals. The implemented PLC transceiver was downloaded into Altera's EP1S25C672 FPGA and the operation was verified successfully.

  • In this paper, we present a switched beamforming RFID reader and propose a convenient shopping system using it. The smart gate with the switched beamforming RFID reader(s) improves tag detection probability, tag false alarm probability, automatic detection functionality of shopping system compared to existing RFID based systems. The proposed system consists of a smart gate to read and verify the tags within cart, a check-out counter to approve customer purchase, and a central server to manage inventory & delivery and to analyze customer purchase trend. The proposed shopping system is more practical, convenient, and cost-effective to A/S than existing RFID shopping systems.

  • 환경오염 문제가 심각한 오늘날 사람들은 대기, 수질 등에 대해서는 오염의 형태를 쉽게 인식하나, 전자오염(Electromagnetic-Pollution)에 대하여는 직접적으로 느낄 수 없는 까닭에 잘 이해하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 이 전자오염은 개개인 뿐만 아니라 많은 사람들에게 영향을 미칠 수가 있다. 예를 들어 뇌방전에 의한 전기적 과도현상으로 항공 관제탑과 비행기들과의 통신이 두절되어 충돌사고를 일으킬 수 있기 때문이다. 이러한 전자잡음현상을 EMI(Electromagnetic Interference)라고 하는데 요즈음은 부품의 고속화, 고집적화로 인해 전기.전자제품의 내잡음성이 감소될 뿐 아니라 저가격화 및 정보사회 발달에 따른 기기의 급속한 보급으로 전자환경보전이라는 면에서 EMI현상은 매우 심각한 실정이다. 또한 전기.전자에서의 EMI연구 뿐 아니라, 전력의 질적향상을 위하여 고주파, 유도장해 등의 전력계통에서의 EMI현상도 검토되어야 한다. 저주파대에서의 전력계통 EMI현상은 송전선 인근의 통신선 안전문제, 라디오, TV의 수신장해문제, 차기 초고압(800KV급), 송전선 설계문제 등을 감안할 때, 매우 중요한 분야라 하겠다. 여기에 부품 또는 설비가 외부잡음이나 내부잡음에 영향을 받지 않고 또한 그 기기 자신이 방출하는 잡음이 다른 곳에 영향을 주지 않는 양위성 즉 EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) 제어가 필요하게 되었다.

The efficient Reflective Wave Removal algorithm based on IR-UWB Radar and Real-time Implementation (IR-UWB Radar에 기반한 효율적인 반사파 제거 알고리즘 및 실시간 구현)

  • In this paper we propose three existing reflection removal algorithms and one proposed algorithm to estimate accurate targets in near field using IR-UWB (Impulse-Radio Ultra Wideband) radar. The received signal includes unnecessary reflected wave signals to the target signal. A reflective cancellation algorithm was used to remove unnecessary signals and estimate only the correct target signal. The location of the targets is estimated in real time with one transmitting antenna and one receiving antenna. In order to overcome the disadvantages of the existing three reflection removal algorithms, we propose a new reflection removal algorithm and estimate the most accurate target. Also we used DSP(Digital Signal Processor) to install the external mounting of vehicles. This paper will contribute to the study of the future reflections.
