  • E-books produced in the country provide limited audio service for reading disables. The reason is that those books cannot translate the mathematical expressions and symbols in the context. In this paper, the 'Math Expression Reader' was implemented that can translate the expressions and symbols in the document into Korean speech for those who have reading disabilities. The math to speech generated by this program has been tested to both the public and reading disables and the results of this test has been compared whether they can exactly understand the speech and evaluated the reading rules.

  • The voice recognition has been made continuously. Now, this technology could support even natural language beyond recognition of isolated words. Interests for the voice recognition was boosting after the Siri, I-phone based voice recognition software, was presented in 2010. There are some occasions implemented voice enabled services using Korean voice recognition softwares, but their accuracy isn't accurate enough, because of background noise and lack of control on voice related features. In this paper, we propose a sort of multi-purpose preprocessor to improve this situation. This supports Keyword spotting in the continuous speech in addition to noise filtering function. This should be independent of any voice recognition software and it can extend its functionality to support continuous speech by additionally identifying the pre-predicate and the post-predicate in relative to the spotted keyword. We get validation about noise filter effectiveness, keyword recognition rate, continuous speech recognition rate by experiments.

  • In this paper, it is proposed the management items for voice traffic using CDRs so that global carriers can treat and manage the voice traffic for a customer, and defined computational expressions to produce the management items. From them, we have designed the management system, which is composed of web interface module, analysis module, data collection module and database management module, and have improved the availability and convenience of the system using web technologies. In addition, we have tested these items using CDRs in real environments that are collected by the global carrier in order to verify their validity. It is expected that the proposed web based voice traffic management system provide a global carrier with network information collection, fault detection/trouble-shooting and high quality of service through analyzing the characteristics of subscribers.

  • The mobile telecommunication system has been growing exponentially after 1990s due to the high population in a city and the growth of mobile user. In this time, the current mobile system mainly concentrates on the voice communication. However, in the next generation, mobile users want to get very diverse services via mobile terminal such as the Internet access, web access, multimedia communication, and etc. For this reason, the next generation system, such as the UMTS system, has to support the packet data service and it will play the major role in the system. In different from the voice service, the packet data service should store packet data in a buffer at base station before it forwards. Consequently, the performance closely related to the buffer management and its operation. However, until now, there are rare study on the buffer behavior and management. In this paper, we will observe the buffer behavior in the UMTS systems by using simulation and analyze the results. For this research, we generate packet data traffics and model the UMTS system for a simulation. Then we analyze the buffer state by a simulation and calculate the buffer overflow probability by mathematical methods.

  • Next-generation wireless networks are expected to support a wide range of services, including high-rate data applications, Various service types request differentiated QoSs(Qualities of Service) such as minimum data rate, accuracy, fairness and so on. Although resources of radio systems are limited, for many applications, it is important that certain QoS targets are required to be met. In this paper, we propose a QoS based scheduling algorithm for next generation systems, based on analyzing previous researches, and we develop the proposed QoS algorithm only for MIMO(multi-Input Multi-Output) systems. Moreover, we subsequently prove that the proposed algorithm optimize throughput relative to prespecified target values and converge to certain throughput.
