The hydrogen-storage properties of a mechanically-alloyed Mg-18wt.%Ni mixture were investigated. Among the mixtures mechanically alloyed for 1h, 3h, and 6h, the mixture mechanically alloyed for 6h(MA 6h sample) shows the best properties of activation, hydriding, and dehydriding. The $Mg_2Ni$ phase forms in the mechanically-alloyed Mg-18wt.%Ni mixture along with hydriding-dehydriding cycling. The MA 6h sample is relatively easily activated and has higher hydriding rate than the pure Mg, the Mg-10wt.%Ni alloy, and a little lower hydriding rate than the $Mg_2Ni$alloy. The MA 6h sample lower dehydriding rate than the $Mg_2$Ni alloy but higher dehydriding rate than the pure Mg and the Mg-25wt.%Ni alloy. The MA 6h sample has larger hydrogen-storage capacity than the pure Mg and the other alloys.

Characteristics of hydrogen production from various food wastes in anaerobic batch reactors were evaluated to assess the energy potential of organic wastes. Organic wastes which were used in this study were scallion as vegetable, apple as fruit, rice as grain and pork as meat. Ultimate hydrogen yield of scallion, apple, rice and pork were 0.46, 0.47, 0.62 and $0.05mol\;H_2/mol\;hexose$, respectively. On the other hand, hydrogen production rates of scallion, apple, rice and pork were 0.013, 0.021, 0.014 and $0.005mol\;H_2/mol\;hexose/h$, respectively. These results indicated that anaerobic hydrogen fermentation from food waste except for meat was effective in removing organic material as well as producing renewable energy. Volatile fatty acids increased as hydraulic retention time was increased. In the hydrogen fermentation, acidification degree of rice was measured as the highest rate of 75.8% whereas pork was found as the lowest rate of 35.2%.

Samples with the compositions of Mg-10wt.%Ni and Mg-25wt.%Ni were prepared by mechanical alloying in a planetary mill. $Mg_2Ni$ phase was formed in the mixture with hydriding dehydriding cycling. The activation of Mg-10wt.%Ni and Mg-25wt.%Ni was completed after n=7 and n=6 around, respectively, at 583K, $0{\sim}8barH_2$. Mg-10wt.% Ni and Mg-25wt. %Ni are considered as excellent hydrogen-storage materials with very high hydriding rates, high dehydriding rates and relatively large hydrogen-storage capacity. The effets of mechanical alloying and hydriding dehydriding cycling are considered the augmentation in the density of active nucleation sites and the diminution in the particle size.
The devices of n-channel poly silicon thin film transistors(TFTs) hydrogenated by plasma, $H_2$ and $H_2$/plasma processes are fabricated. The carriers sensitivity characteristics are analyzed with voltage bias stress at the gate oxide. The parametric sensitivity characteristics caused by electrical stress conditions in hydrogenated devices are investigated by measuring the drain current, threshold voltage($V_{th}$), subthreshold slope(S) and maximum transconductance($G_m$) values. As a analyzed results, the degradation characteristics in hydrogenated n-channel polysilicon thin film transistors are mainly caused by the enhancement of dangling bonds at the poly-Si/$SiO_2$ interface and the poly-Si grain boundary due to dissolution of Si-H bonds. The generation of traps in gate oxide are mainly dued to hot electrons injection into the gate oxide from the channel region.

Hydrogen($H_2$) as a clean, and renewable energy carrier will be served an important role in the future energy economy. Several biological $H_2$ production processes are known and currently under development, ranging from direct bio-photolysis of water by green algae, indirect bio-photolysis by cyanobacteria including the separated two stage photolysis using the combination of green algae and photosynthetic microorganisms or green algae alone, dark anaerobic fermentation by fermentative bacteria, photo-fermentation by purple bacteria, and water gas shift reaction by photosynthetic or fermentative bacteria. In this paper, biological $H_2$ production processes, that are being explored in fundamental and applied research, are reviewed.

These studies were conducted to investigate the chemical composition changes in in vitro digestibility for the improvement of nutritive value of rice straw by alkaline hydrogen peroxide. The content of neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin in rice straw was decreased with higher level of $H_2O_2\;(pH 11.5)$. The content of ADF, cellulose and ash of the rice straw washed after $H_2O_2\;(pH 11.5)$ treatment tended to be increased but NDF, hemicellulose and lignin were decreased with higher concentration of $H_2O_2\;(pH 11.5)$. In the rice straw washed after alkaline hydrogen peroxide treatment the decomposition of cellulose and lignin was effective in $pH\;11.5{\sim}12.5$, in smaller cutting size and $55^{\circ}C$. The in vitro organic matter digestibility was increased with higher $H_2O_2$ concentration and smaller cutting size of rice straw.

In this study, anaerobic biological decomposition were attempted after solubilization treatment of sewage sludge with the complex pre-treatment (acid/base treatment with ultrasonic radiation). Solubilization ratios were compared for ultrasonic treatment at acid or base condition. Solubilization effect of the complex pre-treatment was more effective at higher pH. Biological decomposition of complex pre-treated sludge was faster than non treated (raw) sludge, showing 10 times higher total gas production. Biological digestion of the sludge shows more biogas production. B/A ratio. which indicates hydrogen production potential, was 50% higher with complex pre-treated sludge than raw sludge but lactic acid or propionic acid were also detected during anaerobic decomposition process.
