  • This study aims at analyzing the course selecting standards of college students including Electives and Major courses. For the purpose of this study, we developed a survey through analyzing previous related-research and conducting interviews and pilot study. Using our survey questions, on- and off-line survey was conducted for 301 college students from November 1st to December 5th. As a result of the survey, college student's course selecting standards consist of five factors including 'convenience in learning', 'characteristics of instructors', 'practicality of courses', 'expectations of and interests in learning', and 'external factors.' With the result of factor analysis, we analyzed course selecting standards of college students divided into Electives and Major courses. For electives, 'convenience in learning' was most considered among five factors, followed by 'expectations of and interests in learning', 'external factors', 'characteristics of instructors' and 'practicality of courses.' On the other hand, 'characteristics of instructors' was the highest consideration of college students when selecting courses in Major subjects, followed by 'convenience in learning', 'expectations of and interests in learning', 'external factors' and 'practicality of courses.' This study examined what standards affect college student's course selection, considering Electives and Major courses respectively. We suggested further study on how college students select their courses and how this affect their satisfaction with college education.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the determinants of minor and double major satisfaction of university students. To achieve this, F.G.I. was performed with the university teaching assistants to create a questionnaire. The survey was performed to the subject of 239 university students completing minor and double major. A statistical program (SPSS) was used for data analysis and factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. First, it drew three principal factors including need-achievement, class discrimination, and course registration discrimination by conducting factor analysis regarding survey questions on minor and double major. Next, the multiple regression analysis identifying the effects of the three principal factors was conducted. The results indicated three principal factors to be statistically significant. The degree of influence over satisfaction marked the highest in the order of need-achievement, class discrimination, and course registration discrimination. In the conclusion, the positive function and possibilities of minor and double major are proposed.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify factors in selecting the elective ICT utilization lecture and to find positive and negative elements of the lecture through conducting topic modeling analysis of text mining of the narrative lecture evaluation. In order to do so, from pre-processing of data, keyword frequency analysis to wordcloud visualization and topic modeling analysis have been conducted from 'reasons of selecting the lecture,' 'improvements to be made on the lecture,' and 'what I liked about the lecture' categories regarding the ICT utilization lecture which was opened in the second semester of 2019 at M University. The analysis results show that students mostly registered for the ICT utilization lecture at M University to obtain a certificate and the fact being certified and taking the lecture can be done simultaneously is a positive element of taking the lecture. On the other hand, negative element included inconvenience of the classroom setting environment.

  • This study examined the level of resilience and forgiveness, which are important factors of the future competencies of university students. First, a liberal arts course based on mindfulness theory, "Future Society and understanding of the human mind," was developed with expert validity. This class was opened as a liberal arts class. A test of resilience test and forgiveness scale were conducted before and after the class to determine if there was any change in the level of resilience and forgiveness of university students. There were 18 students in the experimental group and 21 general students in the control group attending S University in Seoul. In both groups, a structured resilience test and forgiveness scale were conducted before and after the experiment. SPSS 20.0 program was used for data processing, and the effectiveness was analyzed using a t-test, paired t-test, and cohen d score for the effect size. The group that showed an effect was verified by confirming the effect size to determine if it was meaningful. The analysis revealed a significant difference in the total resilience score and the sub-factors in positivity and control ability.
