  • In this paper, a hybrid maximum power tracker for a photovoltaic/wind hybrid power system is proposed. In the hybrid system, a direct interfacing the wind power system to the photovoltaic system gives the problems of voltage fluctuations, poor maximum power tracking, and harmonics generation associated with the random wind speed, the random solar irradiation and the pulsating torque came from the wind turbine synchronous generator and photovoltaic. To overcome these problems, a wind side DC/DC converter are proposed employing a star/delta transformer interconnected between the wind turbine side and the photovoltaic side. The control objective for each dc/dc converter is to extract maximum power from each different photovoltaic system and wind system, and transfer two different powers to the inverter and load.

  • This paper deals with stand-alone Photovoltaic system(SPVS) with charge and discharge controller. Main power source of SPVS are generally solar cell and battery. Therefore SPVS can be classified into variable types in accordance with connection type between battery and solar cell. Mainly used one of them is direct connection type which has advantages such as simple structure and simple controller. However most big drawback of this system is energy loss by voltage disharmony between solar cell and battery. Therefore SPVS with charge and discharge controller which can operate solar cell at maximum power point is designed and analyzed by simulation in this paper.

  • A $SnO_2$: F/$SiO_2$ duble layer on the sodalime glass is described for developing a low-cost substrate of a-Si solar cells. Dipping and Pyrosol method, have been used for thin film deposition, and electrical and optical properties have been analysed. Finally, p-i-n a-Si solar cells have been fabricated on this substrate by plasma CVD and their average efficiency is 4% approximately.

  • A new technique is described for developing low-cost $SnO_2$ : F thin films as TCO (Transparent Conducting Oxide) substrate of a-Si solar cells. A novel Pyrosol equipment has been developed, and $SnO_2$ : F thin films have been deposited under the condition of varing dopant concentration, temperature and composition rate of solution. Futhermore, electrical and optical properties of thin films have been measured, and exhibit resistivity of $4.3{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}$ cm and transmittance of 80% which is almost at the same level as those of $SnO_2$ : F thin films by CVD.

  • The photovoltaic inverter is a system which transforms the solar energy to the electrical energy. Because the output of photovoltaic inverter depends on solar radiation, it is necessary to save generated power or to interface with utility line. This paper describes a 2KVA photovoltaic inverter utilizing IGBT, designed to have a very high efficiency in stand alone mode and to have the function synchronizing the phase between inverter and utility voltage as a fundamental study for utility interactive mode.

  • For high efficiency hetero junction solar cell over 20%, good silicon wafer passivation is one of the most important technological factor. Compared to the conventional PECVD technique, HWCVD has appeared as an promising alternative for high quality passivation layer formation. In this work, HWCVD passivation layer characteristics have been intensively investigated on wafer surface treatment, Hydrogen density in deposited thin layer and thermal effects in deposition process. Comprehensive results of the individual process factors on interface passivation has been discussed and resultant silicon hetero junction solar cell characteristics has been investigated.

  • Titanium dioxide antireflection (AR) Coating, which is deposited on Si substrates using an organotitanium solution by the spinning technique, has been studied. The coated films on Si substrates were subsequently heated to $450^{\circ}C$. The thickness and index of refraction of films were varied continuousely from $740{\AA}$ to $1380{\AA}$ and from 1.7 to 2.1 respectively as a function of heat treatment temperature and time. Silicon solar cells AR-coated by the spinning technique showed as much as 31% improvement in conversion efficiency over the uncoated cell.

  • The PECVD $SiN_x:H$ films were made from the $SiH_4-N_2$ gas mixtures under such deposition conditions as 0.01 to 1.0 of $SiH_4/N_2$ volume ratio, 0.1 to $0.8W/cm^2$ of RF power, and 100 to $400^{\circ}C$ of substrate temperature. The deposition rate, refractive index, hydrogen concentration, N/Si composition, optical gap and electric conductivity were measured, and the thermal stability and the optimum deposition conditions were investigated for the application of these films to the solar cell materials.
