PWM Control of On-Off Valves using MR Fluid Spool (MR유체 스풀을 이용한 온-오프 밸브의 PWM제어)

  • Almost the on-off type solenoid valve is used to hydraulic system. It has a strong point that concerned about rapid response, electric and hydraulic characteristic at the same time. In this paper we produced the new type spool using the MR fluid different from the others. Also we controlled a cylinder position through PWM method. And using the AMESim software, We compared our new type spool valve with existed one from data of simulation and experiment.

  • A pneumatic servo valve which is widely applied in industrial field. And It is consist of force motor, spool & sleeve and servo controller. In this study. we developed the force motor which is consume to low power for a pneumatic servo valve. We could reduce the number of turn of the solenoid by using ferromagnetic permanent magnet and took different direction of each other using one coil instead of two coil. we modeled a system consisting of various electro-mechanical subsystems. The appropriateness of the model was verified by simulation. The simulation model resolved the motion of spool, the winding current and the magnetic force. Also, we calculated the displacement and velocity of the spool, flux contour line, b vector. flux density. flux linkage, back EMF etc.

  • The solenoid valve of ABS hydraulic modulator is a two directional on-off valve and is controlled by around 100Hz on-off control. When the on-off valve is switched from open state to closed state, there are braking force deterioration, noise and vibration due to surge pressure in the wheel cylinder. In this study, identifies surge pressure in the braking process of ABS, and investigates the way to reduce the phenomenon. To reduce the surge pressure, PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) control with high frequency of 20kHz was attempted. In conclusion, by using the results of this study for the pressure surge prediction, we could expect enhancement of braking performance in ABS.

  • In this paper, design by magnetic analysis software and proportional control of solenoid for pressure valve for electric pressure cooker is described. The validation of design was proved by 3D finite element analysis results. Also the efficiency of an air ventilation mechanism was considered when pressure was happened by fluid analysis results. The linear proportional control system by AVR was manufactured and its validation was proved by pressure control of solenoid.

  • In general the surge pressure generated in hydraulic systems causes noise, vibration and odd effect to the system. To reduce the surge pressure, high frequency PWM control of 20KHz was attempted. To estimate the braking noise caused by surge, a vehicle equipped with on-board ABS hydraulic modulator has been experimented with respect to the various breaking condition. Thorough this experiments, it was found that breaking noise has been reduced using high frequency PWM control method compare with low frequency method. To evaluate high frequency control m practice, including verification of general functionality, EMI tests was experimented. Its was found that it is necessary to have the solution to electromagnetic interference(EMI) generated by switching elements.

  • For the purpose of optimal control of anti-lock brake systems, precise dynamic characteristics analysis of hydraulic modulator, especially solenoid valve is necessary. However, most of researches so far have dealt with dynamic characteristic analysis of valve itself, and the results have been restrictively applied to the actual ABS modulator, where hydraulic pressure is acting. In this study, mathmatical modeling and experimental analysis were peformed in order to evaluate the valve dynamic characteristics when the hydraulic pressure is applied. High pressure on the master cylinder that affects on the valve dynamic characteristics have been analyzed quantitatively, and performance improvement methods have been suggested through parameter study. Consequently, results of solenoid valve dynamic characteristics analysis derived in the study can be utilized as criteria for the optimal control of anti-lock brake systems.

  • Generally, the three position solenoid valve has veen used for the hydraulic steering gear on account of it’s low cost, simplicity in device, etc. But, there is some off-set because of dead-zone which exists in on-off valves. In this paper, we proposed a combined controller which was added an integral controller to an only on-off one in hydraulic steering gear control system used low speed three position solenoid valve. Experimental results show that the off-set is removed, and the number of valve switching is reduced considerable. The validity of proposed method comparing with an only on-off control was proved by the response experiments.

  • Electronics in modern life have become more miniaturized and precise and new technology of electronic components has made these trends possible. The explosive demand of electronic components needs more high-speed and accurate performance of manufacturing processes. For high-speed actuation, solenoids, voice coil motors and piezo motors have been used. A solenoid actuator characterized by low price, available small size, and convenience is one of the main components of production equipments requiring compact and high-speed actuators. Since these actuators show millisecond order responsiveness, the improvement of 1~2msec is very important in industrial applications. In this paper, the mathematical model of the solenoid is formulated and simulated using SIMULINK$^{(R)}$. To verify the model, the responses for step input with open-loop control is obtained and compared with the simulation result. In order to improve the responsiveness, Hold voltage method is introduced and optimal value between spring constant and hold voltage is suggested.

  • 이 논문은 손가방에 탑재 가능한 IoT기반 락킹 시스템으로 SafeBag 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 일반적으로 사람들이 자신의 손가방을 잃어버린 경우, 손가방 내부에 있는 가치 있는 물건을 보호하고 특히, 제3자에게 이들 물건을 탈취되는 것을 방지하기 자동으로 손가방이 잠기기를 바란다. 이러한 요구를 이루기 위한 IoT기반 락킹 시스템은 손가방 내부에 작은 크기의 솔레노이드 잠금 장치를 통한 자동 락킹-언락킹 기능과 스마트폰과 연동된 마이크로 컨트롤러를 이용한 제어 기능 등을 가지고 있어야 한다. 이 논문을 통해 설계 구현되는 SafeBag 시스템은 이러한 기능을 탑재함으로써 손가방을 잃어버린 경우 손가방을 자동 락킹함으로써 가방 내부의 물건을 안전하게 보호해 주는 이점을 제공한다.

Dynamic Characteristics of Clutch System for an Automatic Transmission (자동변속기 클러치 시스템의 동특성 해석)

  • In this paper, dynamic characteristics of an AT clutch system were investigated considering the dynamics of check ball and hydraulic control valves. Dynamic model of a pressure control solenoid valve (PCSV) was obtained by Bondgraph and permeance method. Also, the clutch piston and check ball dynamics were modeled by considering the effect of centrifugal force of the oil entrapped in the clutch chamber. In order to validate the dynamic models obtained, plunger displacement of PCSV and pressure response of the clutch supply lines were compared with the available experimental data, which were in good accordance with the numerical results. Using the dynamic model of the clutch system, simulations were performed to investigate the effect of the rotational speed on the response of clutch cylinder pressure, clutch piston and check ball displacement, and oil flow rate into the cylinder and flow rate out of the check valve.
