Solenoid Valve DCC-PWM Control for Diesel Engines Fuel Pump (디젤엔진 연료펌프의 솔레노이드 밸브 DCC-PWM 제어)

  • This paper describes an study electric injection system for diesel engines. It is needed effective fuel injection which controls the solenoid valve of fuel pump. To solve this, this paper proposes DCC-PWM method which can realize fast reply and low holding current for solenoid valve on/off. For the proposed design method, simulation tools of ACSL are used to analyze the system. And the single-chip microcomputer is used to reduce the size of controller and to improve flexibility. And the systems validity can be verified through the experimental results.

  • For the purpose of optimal control of anti-lock brake system, precise dynamic characteristics analysis of the hydraulic modulator, especially solenoid valve is necessary. However, most of researches so law have dealt with dynamic characteristic analysis of valve itself and the results have been restrictive to apply on the actual ABS modulator, where hydraulic pressure is acting. In this study, mathematical modeling and experimental analysis were executed in order to evaluate the valve dynamic characteristics when the hydraulic pressure applied. High pressure on the master cylinder effects on the valve dynamic characteristics have been analyzed quantitatively and performance improvement methods have been suggested varying the design factor. Consequently, results of solenoid valve dynamic characteristics analysis derived in the study can be utilized criteria for the optimal control of anti-lock brake system.

  • In this study, dynamic analysis of a proportional solenoid valve is performed, and an LQG/LTR controller with an integrator is designed to control the proportional solenoid valve. The dynamic characteristic of a valve is identified using experimental data by employing the frequency-domain modeling technique. The purpose of LQG/LTR control with an integrator is to enhance the system response and to improve the tracking accuracy for a complex input signal. Experimental tests are performed to verify the performance of the controller, and the results prove the high performance of the controller.

  • This paper describes a design of digital PWM controller for automotive brake solenoid valve which is used in ABS/ESC SoC. The PWM controller which consists of 12 channels supports both direct control and PI control. Six channels in direct control mode make consistent PWM signals according to duty ratio setting, and the others in PI control mode make PWM signals with constant current depending on current setting. The PWM controller also has functions including solenoid valve open detection, Dither and PWM phase shift. The PWM controller having 44,779 gates is fabricated using a 0.18um CMOS process, and test results show that all the functions are correct.

  • The line pressure control system for an automotive transmission in which a bleed type variable force solenoid(VFS) is applied, has been constructed and experimentally investigated. The hydraulic circuit of the system includes a line pressure control valve, a reducing valve, an accumulator, various orifices and a VFS. Static and dynamic responses of the throttle and line pressure have been monitored and discussed for various test conditions.

  • In this paper, to evaluate the performance of solenoidal typed injector, research and development had been performed on injector controller in order to respond to various performance tests, which is not only economical but easy extensible on its channels. The developed controller based on embedded system is able to precisely control the injection timing and quantity by high-pressured from the injector. Also, it is able to performance evaluation by measuring the electrical characteristics of solenoid. Additionally, it is enable precision timing control of light source and high speed camera as it is able to precisely photograph the timely spray pattern of injector.

  • This study proposes a method of controller design for precise position control in the use of solenoid which is widely used in industrial field. First, we design a Luenberger's observer that can accurately estimate the disturbance and set the appropriate gain. Based on the observed state, a fractional PD controller is designed and applied to the position control. As a result, the fractional order controller can obtain almost the same control performance even if the target position is different. In addition, it was confirmed that the position error of the steady state is within 0.1 [%] and the rising time is within about 0.05 second.

  • Solenoid valves for space launch vehicles require the strict limitations on the size, weight and current consumption comparing to industrial solenoid valves. The preliminary design of a cryogenic and high pressure solenoid valve for propellant tank pressurization which can ensure the operation of solenoid valve under such strict limitation conditions was preformed. The Copper and Constantan materials in coil design have used to prevent the excessive rise of the current at cryogenic state. The measured current of solenoid valve at cryogenic temperature satisfies a design requirement.

  • This paper proposes a methodology for developing the performance of a solenoid valve for vehicles based on the dynamic analysis model by an electromagnetic field. The high performance solenoid model with a low current and high thrust was induced through the shape optimal design of the yoke and plunger. To perform the dynamic analysis of the solenoid valve, the input current profile was analyzed. The speed and thrust information was analyzed by FEM with this current profile. The co-simulation method of the circuit model of control logic and electromagnetic model of the solenoid valve was also proposed to analyze the performance with several current patterns. Finally, the performance of the original model and optimal one was compared.
