  • As the use of computer has been popularized these days, an active research is in progress to make much more convenient and natural interface compared to the existing user interfaces such as keyboard or mouse. For this reason, there is an increasing interest toward Microsoft's motion sensing module called Kinect, which can perform hand motions and speech recognition system in order to realize communication between people. Kinect uses its built-in sensor to recognize the main joint movements and depth of the body. It can also provide a simple speech recognition through the built-in microphone. In this paper, the goal is to use Kinect's depth value data, skeleton tracking and labeling algorithm to recognize information about the extraction and movement of hand, and replace the role of existing peripherals using a virtual mouse, a virtual keyboard, and a speech recognition.

  • In this study, intends to propose virtual reality education contents for fundamental nursing skills to develop various teaching methods in nursing education. Blood sugar test & insulin subcutaneous injection among the 20 core fundamental nursing skills is one of that frequently performed and can be used for self-management education for diabetic patients. This study designed a core fundamental nursing skill on immersive VR contents by dividing the learner's experience into three stages: guide, mission, and feedback with these skills. And it is designed by tracking the movement of the hand through finger joint recognition without using a controller for immerse in training. This study will help develop VR nursing education contents that can improve clinical practice competency and the effect of the nursing education.

  • Although a hand haptic interaction which provides direct and natural sensation is the most natural way of interacting with VR environment, the hand haptic interaction has still limitations with respect to the complexity of articulated hand and related hardware capabilities. Particularly, virtual assembly simulation which refers to the verification process of digital mockup in product development lifecycle is one of the most challenging topics in virtual reality applications. However, hand haptic interaction is considered as a big obstacle, because difficulty initial grasping and non-dextrous manipulation remain as unsolved problems. In this paper, we propose that common hand haptic interactions involves two separate stages with different aspects. We present the hand haptic interaction method enables us to stably grasp a virtual object at initial grasping and delicately manipulate an object at task operating by one's intention. Therefore, proposed method provides the robustness using grasping quality and dextrous manipulation using physically simulation. We conducted experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed method under different display environments -monoscopic and stereoscopic. From 2-way ANOVA test, we show that the proposed method satisfies two aspects of hand haptic interaction. Finally, we demonstrated an actual application of various assembly simulation for relatively complex models.

  • In this study, Developing high resolution camera and Social Network Service sharing image can be easily getting images, it cause about taking fingerprints to easy from images. So I present solution about prevent to taking fingerprints. this technology is develop python using to opencv, blur libraries. First of all 'Hand Key point Detection' algorithm is used to locate the hand in the image. Using this algorithm can be find finger joints that can be protected while minimizing damage in the original image by using the coordinates of separate blurring the area of fingerprints in the image. from now on the development of accurate finger tracking algorithms, fingerprints will be protected by using technology as an internal option for smartphone camera apps from high resolution images.

  • The characteristics of dental treatment makes the dental staff frequently contact with patient directly. Also the daily use of high-handpieces, sharp instruments, and needles often causes bleeding on oral cavity. Therefore, the risk of cross transmission grows up. The pathogen from dental practice could spread on not only the practice itself but also the dental laboratory with contaminated impressions and prosthesis. Dental clinic staffs (dentists, dental hygienists and dental technicians) should recognize all the patients have a possibility of cross contamination, and try to prevent the transmission of infection by proper infection control. In this study, we review the articles about disinfection methods and chemical infection agents used for dental impressions, and try to figure out the suitable and effective infection control system of dental impressions.

  • This paper is case study on design, manufacture and application of customized assistive device for the ADL of person with brain lesions. The study had carried out from October 2010 to November 2010 and 2 clients from Assistive device case management demonstration project which is performed by Daegu assistive and rehabilitation center had participated. Case A, a 47-year-old man with brain lesions, stays only on the floor and could not get close to the usual toilet by himself because of the poor low extremities muscle strength and function. The moveable-toilet and customized ramp had applied to Case A. He clambers up the ramp and reach to the toilet easily. Case B, a 8-year-old boy with brain lesions, had difficulties with self-feeding because of his clumsy hand. Several existing feeding aids were applied but not appropriated. A customized feeding aid was designed and manufactured out of regard of Case A's ROM and right hand size. And his occupational therapist works together continuously to make him feed himself in the near future. Already-made assistive devices were not appropriate to Case A and B and to solve this problem, customized assistive devices were applied. The importance and needs of design and manufacture of assistive device were recognized through these case study.
