Assessing the Economic Benefit of Diverse Drought Mitigation Strategies for Korean Reservoir Systems Based on Simulated Inflow Sequences (유입량 모의 기법을 활용한 국내 다목적댐의 가뭄 대책별 경제성 평가)

  • 가뭄은 다른 자연재해에 비해 진행 속도는 느리지만, 장기간 지속되는 특징을 지녀 경제·사회·환경 전반에 막대한 규모의 피해를 유발하는 심각한 자연재해이다. 국내 가뭄의 발생 빈도는 점차 증가하는 경향을 보이며, 기후변화의 영향으로 가뭄의 발생 빈도와 강도는 점차 심화될 것으로 전망된다. 우리나라는 '댐 용수공급 조정기준'과 '댐 가뭄 단계별 실행계획'을 가이드 라인으로하여 가뭄으로 인한 물 부족 문제에 대응하고 있다. 가뭄 대책의 경제적 편익 산정은 물 공급의 효율성과 안정성 평가 및 정책의 개정을 위해 선행되어야 할 기초연구 중 하나이지만, 가뭄 대책의 시행에 따라 발생하는 경제적 편익을 고려한 연구는 현재 미비한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 국내에 위치한 17개 다목적댐을 대상으로 가뭄 대책의 시행에 따른 경제적 편익을 산정하여 현재 시행하고 있는 가뭄 대책의 경제성 평가를 실시하였다. 경제적 편익의 산정은 용수의 사용 목적에 따라 구분하여 추정하였으며, 개별 가뭄 대책에 따른 용수별 공급량 가능량을 계산하기 위해 각각의 저수지 운영 모형을 구축하였다. 마지막으로 경제적 편익 산정 과정에서 부족한 시계열 자료로 인한 문제점들을 개선하고, 다양한 가뭄 환경에서의 경제성을 평가하기 위해 추계학적 기법을 활용한 모의 유입량을 사용하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 얻어진 가뭄 대책별 경제적 효용은 향후 물관리 시스템 구축에 기반이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Queue Length Based Real-Time Traffic Signal Control Methodology Using sectional Travel Time Information (구간통행시간 정보 기반의 대기행렬길이를 이용한 실시간 신호제어 모형 개발)

  • The expansion of the physical road in response to changes in social conditions and policy of the country has reached the limit. In order to alleviate congestion on the existing road to reconsider the effectiveness of this method should be asking. Currently, how to collect traffic information for management of the intersection is limited to point detection systems. Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) was the traffic information collection system of point detection method such as through video and loop detector in the past. However, intelligent transportation systems of the next generation(C-ITS) has evolved rapidly in real time interval detection system of collecting various systems between the pedestrian, road, and car. Therefore, this study is designed to evaluate the development of an algorithm for queue length based real-time traffic signal control methodology. Four coordinates estimate on time-space diagram using the travel time each individual vehicle collected via the interval detector. Using the coordinate value estimated during the cycle for estimating the velocity of the shock wave the queue is created. Using the queue length is estimated, and determine the signal timing the total queue length is minimized at intersection. Therefore, in this study, it was confirmed that the calculation of the signal timing of the intersection queue is minimized.

An Estimation of Attainable Speed in Brash Ice using Empirical Formula (경험식을 이용한 유빙 얼음에서의 도달 속도 추정)

  • As ships operating on the Arctic route are exposed to various ice environments such as level ice, pre-swan, pack ice, ice ridge and brash ice, it is essential to estimate the ice resistance according to the ice environment. Methods for estimating the ice resistance include a method using mathematical model, numerical simulation, and a method using empirical formula. In this study, empirical formulas are used to estimate the ice resistance. The purpose of this study is to develop the ice resistance and attainable speed estimation program(I-RES) for brash ice. To develop the Brash ice attainable speed estimation algorithm, the environmental characteristics of the brash ice were analyzed, and the results of I-RES were evaluated by comparing the model test results of brash ice. The accuracy of I-RES for brash ice is around 20% in this study but it will be more developed near future with accumulating more model test results and calculation results.

  • Fick's diffusion equation was transformed into algebraic subsidiary equation with its initial and boundary conditions through Laplace transformation, and the subsidiary equation was transformed back on the basis of Burington's table of inverse transformations so that it became the solution of Fick's equation. The initial and boundary condition was for upward diffusion of salts into flooding water of constant depth from uniform polder soil of infinite depth containing constant concentration of salt. The derived solution was tested through comparison for its conformability with other solutions of simpler initial and boundary conditions. The importance of shallow transplanting of rice seedlings and salt removing by growing rice was mentioned on the basis of very slow desalting rate by diffusion calculated from the derived solutions.

A Stability Test of the Regression Coefficients for the Linear Models using Chow Test (차우검정을 활용한 선형회귀모형간 유사성 검증)

  • In this research, we tried to check the applicability of a Chow test to the linear models which are generated in the process of transportation planning or traffic flow analyses. The Chow test is a very popular statistical method which is being used to see if the coefficients from two separate linear regression models are equal or not. In order to prove the effectiveness of the Chow test, we found the linear relationships between speed and density under the situations such as driving in daytime and in nighttime on a rainy day. Based on the two months of Joong-Bu Expressway traffic data, we proved that the Chow test is useful to testify the similarity between two linear regression models. And this statistical tool seems to be able to have a very important role in traffic flow analysis or in transportation planning process. Finally, we expect the Chow test be implemented even to the non-linear regression models or to the multi-variate models.

Estimation of Predictive Travel Times Using Ubiquitous Traffic Environment under Incident Conditions (유비쿼터스 환경에서 돌발상황 발생 시 예측적 통행시간 추정기법)

  • This study presented a novel method to estimate travel times under incident conditions. Predictive travel time information was defined and evaluated with the proposed method. The proposed method utilized individual vehicle speeds obtained from global positioning systems (GPS) and inter-vehicle communications(IVC) for more reliable real-time travel times. Individual vehicle trajectory data were extracted from microscopic traffic simulations using AIMSUN. Market penetration rates (MPR) and IVC ranges were explored with the accuracy of travel times. Relationship among travel time accuracy, IVC ranges, and MPR were further identified using regression analyses. The outcomes of this study would be useful to derive functional requirements associated with traffic information systems under forthcoming ubiquitous transportation environment

The assessment of the relative contribution of the shape of instantaneous unit hydrograph with heterogeneity of drainage path (배수경로 이질성에 의한 순간단위도 형상의 상대적 기여도 평가)

  • The relative contribution of between hillslope-flow and stream-flow by heterogeneity of drainage path are quantitatively assessed in the present study with GIUH model based on grid of GIS. Application watersheds are selected Pyeongchang, Bocheong and Wi river basin of IHP in Korea. The mean and variance of hillslope and stream length are estimated and analyzed in each watershed. And coupling with observation storm events, estimate hillslope and stream characteristic velocity which dynamic parameters of GIUH model. The mean and variance of distribution of travel time (i.e. IUH) calculate using estimated pass lengths and characteristic velocities. And the relative contributions are assessed by heterogeneity of drainage path. As a result, the effect of the variance that determine shape of IUH dominate with hillslope's effect in the small watershed area (within 500 $km^2$). Thus, GIUH in the small watershed area must consider hillslope-flow.

Benefit Analysis of Carpool Service in Public Agencies Transferring Innovation Cities (혁신도시이전 공공기관의 카풀 도입 편익분석)

  • As vehicle supply rate increases, traffic jam-related problems emerge and sharing transportation including carpool, centered on the advanced countries, becomes a major interest. This study aims to analyze benefit generated by carpool during the rush hours of medium and long distance travel, focused on the workers of public Agencies relocated to innovation cities. In order to compute benefit, carpool demand of relocated public Agencies was estimated and travel speed was estimated according to reduced traffic volume through carpool adoption using a traffic flow model. The benefit were computed dividing them into direct benefit and indirect benefit. As a result, 23billion KRW and 56.5billion KRW were annually revealed to be generated in terms of direct benefit and indirect benefit. The study result is expected to be used as part of basic research to adopt carpool for future traffic demand management.

유공Caisson식 방파제에 작용하는 파력에 관한 연구

  • 파의 에너지 감쇠기구의 관점에서 볼 때 분류손실방식인 유공벽식 방파제 중에서 원형공이 벽 전체에 균일하게 분포되어 있고 구멍 직경에 비해 벽 두께가 얇은 삼중 유공벽형 Caisson의 각 벽에 작용하는 파력에 고나해 이론적 접근과 실험을 통한 실증을 시도해 보았다. 이론적인 방법으로는 토굴구효남의 이론을 응용하였으며 주어진 파랑조건에 대해 각 유공벽 전 후면에 연속방정식과 Bernoulli 방정식을 이용하여, 각 영역별 연속 Potential의 진폭과 위상각에 대한 비선형 12원 연립방정식을 만들었고 Computer를 이용하여 반복법으로 각 속도 Potential을 확정하였다. 이렇게 구한 속도 Potential을 압력방정식에 대입하여 각 벽별 파력을 계산하였으며 동일한 파랑조건하의 실험에서 각 벽별 파력을 측정하여 양자를 서로 비교검토하였다. Bernoulli의 방정식중 에너지 손실항은 의사비선형으로 처리하였다. 유공율조합 0.25-0.3-0.2이고, 판두께가 1cm인 모형의 실험결과, 각 벽별 최대파력치의 특성으로서는 첫때, S-2, S-3등 간벽에 작용하는 파력이 전벽 및 후벽에 비해 두드러지게 작다는 사실과, 둘째 작용파력의 크기 순이 파형경사가 작을 때는 대략 S-4, S-1, S-2, S-3순이고 파형경사가 클 때에는 대략 S-1, S-4, S-2, S-3순이라는 점 등을 들 수 있겠다. 굴구효남이 가정한 f의 치 1.5를 사용하여 계산한 각 벽별 최대파력을 실험치와 비교해 본 결과, 파가 각 유공벽을 통과할 때의 손실수두를 실험에서의 양만큼 fr=1.5를 가정한 수학적 model이 설명해 주지 못한다고 볼 수 있으므로 두가지 방법에 의하여 본 실험에서 사용한 유공판의 손실계수를 근사적으로 추정하여 보았다. 추정한 f를 사용하여 다시금 각 벽별 최대파력을 계산하고 실험치와 비교해 보면 훨씬 서로 근접함을 알 수 있었다. 결국 본 논문의 이론을 사용하면 유공Caisson문제의 전체적인 윤곽 및 각 변수들의 파력에 대한 영향을 파악할 수 있겠다.

Recent Changes in Bloom Dates of Robinia pseudoacacia and Bloom Date Predictions Using a Process-Based Model in South Korea (최근 12년간 아까시나무 만개일의 변화와 과정기반모형을 활용한 지역별 만개일 예측)

  • Due to climate change and its consequential spring temperature rise, flowering time of Robinia pseudoacacia has advanced and a simultaneous blooming phenomenon occurred in different regions in South Korea. These changes in flowering time became a major crisis in the domestic beekeeping industry and the demand for accurate prediction of flowering time for R. pseudoacacia is increasing. In this study, we developed and compared performance of four different models predicting flowering time of R. pseudoacacia for the entire country: a Single Model for the country (SM), Modified Single Model (MSM) using correction factors derived from SM, Group Model (GM) estimating parameters for each region, and Local Model (LM) estimating parameters for each site. To achieve this goal, the bloom date data observed at 26 points across the country for the past 12 years (2006-2017) and daily temperature data were used. As a result, bloom dates for the north central region, where spring temperature increase was more than two-fold higher than southern regions, have advanced and the differences compared with the southwest region decreased by 0.7098 days per year (p-value=0.0417). Model comparisons showed MSM and LM performed better than the other models, as shown by 24% and 15% lower RMSE than SM, respectively. Furthermore, validation with 16 additional sites for 4 years revealed co-krigging of LM showed better performance than expansion of MSM for the entire nation (RMSE: p-value=0.0118, Bias: p-value=0.0471). This study improved predictions of bloom dates for R. pseudoacacia and proposed methods for reliable expansion to the entire nation.
