Robust Detection and Tracking for a High-speed and Small Approaching Target in Clutter (클러터 환경에 강인한 고속/소형의 접근 표적 탐지/추적)

  • In this paper, we propose a robust method which can detect and track a high-speed small approaching target in a cluttered environment for Korean Active Protection System. The proposed method uses a temporal and spatial filter, tracking filter to detect and track a single target in consecutive order. And it is comprised of a candidate target detection step, a prior target selection step and a target tracking. Field tests on real infrared image sequences show that the proposed method could stably track a high speed and small target in complex background and target occlusion.

  • 본 연구는 전보에서 개발한 RTX에 대한 응용 연구의 하나로써 레이더 영상 신호의 수록 및 해석에 부가하여 타선의 GPS 위치정보를 수신하여 자선의 전자해도(ENC) 및 radar 화면상에서 동시에 표시함으로써 이들 두 선박의 간격을 측정할 수 있는 선간거리계, 또한, 타선의 ARPA radar가 탐지한 영상신호, 타선의 기동정보(own ship data, OSD) 및 추적표적의 정보(tracked target message, TTM) 등을 자선의 레이더나 전자해도 화면상에서 실시간으로 모니터링하는 software를 개발하고, 이들의 레이더 정보를 필요에 따라 hard disk에 수록 및 재생할 수 있는 아주 간편하면서도 범용성이 있는 레이더 정보수록 및 해석 시스템을 개발하였다.   • This paper presents the signal processing of the panoramic thermal warning system that detects the small target such as aircraft and helicopter from afar. We develope the all round looking thermal imaging system which can scan all the way. This system acquires the panoramic images to reconstruct the IR images by revolving head of sensor typed line sensor at high speed. For detection, where the object of interest may be small, it is sometimes difficult to specify from object and background by conventional contrast enhancement methods. Therefore we use the adaptive plateau equalization algorithm each region to improve the contrast and make the hardware system which consists of the signal processing board for real-time display. We can verify the proposed method by the computer simulation and the hardware implementation.

  • 본 논문은 방사선 치료에 사용되는 선형 전자가속기(LINAC)의 작동 원리와 구성 등 의료용 LINAC의 전반을 다룬다. 의료용 LINAC은 전자총에서 발사된 전자를 가속기 튜브 내에서 가속시켜 전자빔을 발생시키고, 이러한 전자빔을 금속 표적에 충돌시켜 발생한 X 선을 인체에 조사하는 원리이다. 최근에는 O-arm, C-arm 등 3-D 촬영을 위한 치료기가 개발됨에 따라, 의료용 LINAC의 전자총, 마그네트론 등을 구동하는데 사용되는 고전압 전원장치 또한 소형화와 고밀도화가 요구되는 추세이다. 본 논문에서는 마그네트론 구동을 위한 고밀도 40kV/100A 음극성 펄스 모듈레이터와 정전압 정전류 제어 및 50kV 절연이 가능한 히터 전원장치를 설계 및 제작하였으며, 9.3GHz, 1.7MW X-Band 마그네트론 연계실험을 통해 고효율 고신뢰성의 동작을 확인하였다.

Multi-Function Compact Frequency Synthesizer for Ka Band Seeker (Ka 대역 탐색기용 다기능 초소형 주파수 합성기)

  • In this paper, we designed a compact frequency synthesizer with multi-function for Ka-band seeker. DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) is applied to generate various waveform and to cover high-speed frequency sweep. In order to reduce size, waveform generator and frequency up-converter are integrated in one module. Proposed frequency synthesizer provides precise detection and tracking waveform for low and high speed targets. It is observed that fabricated synthesizer performs $0.45{\mu}sec$ frequency switching time and -93.69 dBc/Hz phase noise at offset 1 kHz. The size of the synthesizer is kept within 120 mm width, 120 mm length and 22 mm height.

Influences Analysis of SAS Azimuth Resolution on the UUV Trajectory Disturbances (수중 무인정 궤적 교란에 따른 SAS 방위해상도 영향에 대한 분석)

  • Active synthetic aperture sonar on the small UUV is generated several trajectory disturbances under the influences of underwater environments, and causing a large error in the synthetic aperture processing. In this paper, we analyzed the effects of azimuth resolution for the phase mismatch of the synthetic aperture focus processing when the periodic or random trajectory disturbances was generated on the side direction. The simulation results show that ghost targets are generated and azimuth resolution is very deteriorated when disturbance amplitude is greater than $0.3{\lambda}$ and disturbance period is greater than $2L_{sa}$ in the periodic trajectory disturbances environments. And detection performance on the seabed small objects by the synthetic aperture processing is shown that there is a significant effects on the azimuth resolution depending on the types and conditions of the platform trajectory disturbance variations.

  • This paper describes on the system and method for automatically tracking and real-time monitoring the position of target ships relative to the own ship using a PC based radar system that displays radar images and electronic charts together on a single PC screen. This system includes a simulator for generating the GGA and VTG information of target ships and a simulator for generating the TTM and OSD outputs from a ARPA radar and then host computer accepts NMEA0183 sentences on the maneuvering information of target ships from these simulators. The results obtained are summarized as follows;1. The system developed this study can be used as a range finder for measuring the distance between two ships and as a device for providing the maneuvering information such as distance and bearing to target ships from own ship on ECS screen. 2. From the result of position tracking for a selected target ship tracked with an update rate of 5 seconds using the $\alpha$-$\beta$ tracker, we concluded that the smoothing effect by the $\alpha$-$\beta$tracker was very effective and stable except in the time interval until about one minute after the target is detected. 3. From the fact that the real-time maneuvering information of tracked ship targets via a local area network (LAN) from a host computer installed a radar target extractor was successfully transferred to various monitoring computers of ship, we concluded that this system can be used as a sub-monitoring system of ARPA radar.

  • This paper addresses a Moving Target Indication (MTI) algorithm which can be used for small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) equipped with image sensors. MTI is a system (or an algorithm) which detects moving objects. The principle of the MTI algorithm is to analyze the difference between successive image data. It is difficult to detect moving objects in the images recorded from dynamic cameras attached to moving platforms such as UAVs flying at low altitudes over a variety of terrain, since the acquired images have two motion components: 'camera motion' and 'object motion'. Therefore, the motion of independent objects can be obtained after the camera motion is compensated thoroughly via proper manipulations. In this study, the camera motion effects are removed by using wiener filter-based image registration, one of the non-parametric methods. In addition, an image pyramid structure is adopted to reduce the computational complexity for UAVs. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our method with experimental results on outdoor video sequences.

A Lightweight Real-Time Small IR Target Detection Algorithm to Reduce Scale-Invariant Computational Overhead (스케일 불변적인 연산량 감소를 위한 경량 실시간 소형 적외선 표적 검출 알고리즘)

  • Detecting small infrared targets from the low-SCR images at a long distance is very hard. The previous Local Contrast Method (LCM) algorithm based on the human visual system shows a superior performance of detecting small targets by a background suppression technique through local contrast measure. However, its slow processing speed due to the heavy multi-scale processing overhead is not suitable to a variety of real-time applications. This paper presents a lightweight real-time small target detection algorithm, called by the Improved Selective Local Contrast Method (ISLCM), to reduce the scale-invariant computational overhead. The proposed ISLCM applies the improved local contrast measure to the predicted selective region so that it may have a comparable detection performance as the previous LCM while guaranteeing low scale-invariant computational load by exploiting both adaptive scale estimation and small target feature feasibility. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce its computational overhead considerably while maintaining its detection performance compared with the previous LCM.

Clutter Rejection Method using Background Adaptive Threshold Map (배경 적응적 문턱치 맵(Threshold Map)을 이용한 클러터 제거 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a robust clutter pre-thresholding method using background adaptive Threshold Map for the clutter rejection in the complex coastal environment. The proposed algorithm is composed of the use of Threshold Map's and method of its calculation. Additionally we also suggest an automatic decision method of Thresold Map's update. Experimental results on some sets of real infrared image sequence show that the proposed method could remove clutters effectively without any loss of detection rate for the aim target and reduce processing time dramatically.
