The Evaluation and Fabrication of Photoconductor Sensor for Quality Assurance of Radiation Therapy Devices (방사선치료기기 정도관리를 위한 광도전체 센서 제작 및 평가)

  • Recently, a use of linear accelerator with a multi-leaf collimator(MLC) for radiation therapy is increasing. The importance of quality assurance (QA) for the linear accelerator is emphasized as the side effects of the inaccurate delivery of the radiation beam has been increased according to the high dose irradiation technique. In this study, The $HgI_2$ and $PbI_2$ photoconductor layer samples of $400{\mu}m$ thickness were fabricated using sedimentation method among particle-in-binder technology. From the fabricated samples, the electrical properties(dark current, output current, response properties and linearity) were investigated. From the experimental results, $HgI_2$ has good charge signal generation and linearity. Finally, from the signal response results about various thickness of $HgI_2$ sensor, the signal creation efficiency of $400{\mu}m$ thickness of $HgI_2$ sensor has the highest value and the excellent reproducibility below ${\pm}2.5%$.

  • 질소 및 인 동시제거 공정 중 대표적인 연속회분식반응조(Sequencing Batch reactor: SBR)는 비교적 간편한 운전방법과 저렴한 건설비, 유입수의 부하변동에 큰 영향을 받지 않는 소규모 하수처리에 적합한 공정으로 알려져 있다. 또한 SBR 공정은 기존 활성슬러지 공법에 비해 적은 부지로 많은 양의 폐수를 처리할 수 있고 유입수 수질 및 유량변동에 따라 다양한 운전주기를 변화할 수 있으며, 유기물 제거뿐만 아니라 반응조의 변형에 의해 영양염류의 제거가 가능한 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 bench scale SBR 실험을 통하여 질산염의 탈질속도 및 용해성 인의 흡수와 방출속도를 측정하고, SBR 공정의 무산소조건에서 인흡수 및 탈질을 동시에 수행하는 DPB 존재의 가능성을 파악하고자 하였다. 연구결과 무산소조건에서 S-P의 방출과 흡수가 동시에 진행되었으며, 무산소조건에서 S-P의 방출속도는 $0.08{\sim}0.94\;kgS-P/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$, 흡수속도는 $0.012{\sim}0.1\;kgS-P/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$를 나타내었다. 무산소조에서 S-P의 방출 및 흡수가 진행되는 동안 탈질과정도 함께 진행되었으며, 각각의 F/M비에서 탈질속도를 측정한 결과 F/M비 $0.44\;kgCOD/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$에서는 최대 $0.16\;kgNO_3^-N/kgMLSS{\cdot}d$의 탈질속도를 나타내었다. S-P이 방출되지 않는 경우와 방출되는 경우의 비탈질속도를 비교한 결과 S-P이 방출되지 않는 경우의 비탈질속도가 S-P이 방출되는 경우의 비탈질속도보다 높았다. 이렇게 S-P이 방출되는 경우의 비탈질속도가 더 낮은 이유는 무산소 조건에서 탈질과 S-P의 방출 및 흡수가 동시에 일어나는 경우 S-P의 방출에 관여하는 미생물과 탈질에 관여하는 미생물간의 경쟁반응 때문으로 판단된다.응답법의 적용이 가능함을 보였고, 이는 보다 복잡한 관망에서의 천이류 해석이 가능함을 시사한다.$경상도지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道地理志)에는 상주가 8곳으로 1/3의 자기 생산을 담당하고 있었다. $\ulcorner$경상도지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道地理志)에는 $\ulcorner$세종실록$\lrcorner$(世宗實錄) $\ulcorner$지리지$\lrcorner$(地理志)와 동년대에 동일한 목적으로 찬술되었음을 알 수 있다. $\ulcorner$경상도실록지리지$\lrcorner$(慶尙道實錄地理志)에는 $\ulcorner$세종실록$\lrcorner$(世宗實錄) $\ulcorner$지리지$\lrcorner$(地理志)와의 비교를 해보면 상 중 하품의 통합 9개소가 삭제되어 있고, $\ulcorner$동국여지승람$\lrcorner$(東國與地勝覽) 에서는 자기소와 도기소의 위치가 완전히 삭제되어 있다. 이러한 현상은 첫째, 15세기 중엽 경제적 태평과 함께 백자의 수요 생산이 증가하자 군신의 변별(辨別)과 사치를 이유로 강력하게 규제하여 백자의 확대와 발전에 걸림돌이 되었다. 둘째, 동기(銅器)의 대체품으로 자기를 만들어 충당해야할 강제성 당위성 상실로 인한 자기수요 감소를 초래하였을 것으로 사료된다. 셋째, 경기도 광주에서 백자관요가 운영되었으므로 지방인 상주지역에도 더 이상 백자를 조달받을 필요가 없이, 일반 지방관아와 서민들의 일상용기 생산으로 전락하여 소규모화 되었을 것이라고 사료된다.장 운동기능을 향상시키는 유효성분의 보강 등이 필요하다는 점도 알 수 있었다.더불어 산화물질 해독에 관여하는 다른 유전자

Reproductive Cycle of the Abalone, Haliotis discus discus Collected from Jeju Island of Korea (한국산 둥근전복, Haliotis discus discus의 생식주기)

  • This study histologically describes the gonadal development and reproductive cycle of the abalone, Haliotis discus discus inhabiting Jeju Island of Korea. Gonads displayed histologically definitive seasonal changes. The gonad index (GI) of both females and males was the highest (3.2 and 3.3) in September and was the lowest (1.7 and 1.4) in January and February. Egg diameter increase from early stage in March and reach about $180{\mu}m$ to ripe stage in August. The condition index (CI) was highest in July and lowest in May. The pattern of changes in the GI, egg diameter and CI were similar to the pattern of seasonal changes in gonadal tissues. The female ratio (F/F + M) was 59% (n = 182:127). The reproductive cycle was divided into an inactive stage (January-February), early active stage (March-April), late active stage (May-July), ripe stage (August-October) and spent and degenerative stage (November-January). The main spawning period of H. discus discus was August to October at Jeju Island in 2014.

Characteristics of Nutrient Removal and Membrane Fouling in a Membrane Bioreactor using Food Waste as an Additional Carbon Source (음식폐기물 응축수를 보조탄소원으로 이용하는 막 결합 생물 응조에서의 질소, 인 제거와 막 오염 특성)

  • Due to the low C/N ratio of domestic wastewater characteristic, addition of external carbon source for the effective N and P removal is necessary. High organic content of food waste can be used for the external carbon source in biological nutrient removal processes, The applicability of condensate of food waste (CFW), which is produced during the high-rate fermentation process, was examined in membrane bioreactor for the nutrient removal. Under the various operating conditions, nutrient removal efficiencies and membrane fouling characteristics were evaluated using synthetic wastewater. From nitrate utilization rate (NUR) test, denitrification rate was 0.19 g $NO_3-N/g$ VSS/day. With the addition of CFW increased, average removal efficiencies of T-N and T-P could be increased up to 64% and 41%, respectively. Also the optimal retention time was 3 hr/5 hr for anoxic/aerobic reactor. When applied to real sewage, membrane fouling resistance was increased up to 60%, which could be reduced from $10.4{\times}10^{12}m^{-1}$ to $5.9{\times}10^{12}m^{-1}$ with the control of influent suspended solid concentration. In summary, it was suggested that CFW could be used as an economical and effective carbon source for membrane assisted biological N and P removal.

Estimation of Kinetic Coefficient in Submerged Membrane Bioreactor for Biological Nutrient Removal (도시 하수의 생물학적 고도처리를 위한 분리막 공정의 개발 및 동역학적 계수 산정 연구)

  • This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of nutrient removal of municipal wastewater in membrane bioreactor system. Membrane bioreactor consists of four reactors such as the anaerobic, the stabilization, the anoxic and the submerged membrane aerobic reactor with two internal recycles. The hydraulic retention time (HRT), sludge retention time (SRT) and flux were 6.2 h, 34.1 days and 19.6 L/$m^2$/hr (LMH), respectively. The removal efficiency of $COD_{Cr}$, SS, TN and TP were 94.3%, 99.9%, 69.4%, and 74.6%, respectively. The estimated true biomass yield, specific denitrification rate (SDNR), specific nitrification rate (SNR), specific phosphorus release rate (SPRR) and specific phosphorus uptake rate (SPUR) were 0.653 kgVSS/kgBOD/d, 0.044 $mgNO_3$-N/mgVSS/d, 0.035 $mgNH_4$-N/mgVSS/d, 51.0 mgP/gVSS/d and 5.4 mgP/gVSS/d, respectively. The contents of nitrogen and phosphorus of biomass were 8.86% and 3.5% on an average.

  • To investigate and analyze the change in the forest community structure between non-attacked time(in 1980) and severly damaged time(in 1987) by pine gall midge, Thecodoplosis japonensis, four plots with five subplots were sampled at Cheongwon-gun of Chungcheungbuk-do. The total number of woody species per 0.2ha changed 32 in 1980 to 53 in 1987. According to the damage increasing, the importance value of the genus Quercus as a substituting species has sprung up. Especially the importance value of Quercus serrata and Q. aliena singnificantly increased in the heavily insect infested forest. As to changes of forest community structure during 7 years, diversity of investigation structure has increased. The similarity indices between 1980 and 1987 were 52.9% and 49.7% in the understory and shrub stratum, respectively.

The Removal of Organics, Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Loop Reactor Using Fluidized Media (유동상 담체를 이용한 Loop Reactor에서 유기물 및 질소, 인 제거)

  • This study was accomplished using Anaerobic/Anoxic/Oxic upflow packed-bed column reactors with fixed media and Loop Reactor with fluidized media instead of Oxic reactor. The objectives of this study was to investigate the characteristics of organics, nitrogen and phosphorus removal from sewage with the HRT. The average removal efficiencies of $BOD_5$ and SS increase as increasing the hydraulic retention time (HRT) until 16 h of the HRT, and they were constant over 16 h of the HRT. The removal efficiency of $BOD_5$ in case of packed-bed reactor and Loop Reactor was about 86.6% and 90.9% respectively at 16 h of the HRT. The removal efficiency of SS in packed-bed reactor and Loop Reactor was about 78.0% and 88.2% respectively at 16 h of the HRT. The average removal efficiencies of $COD_{Cr}$ and $COD_{Mn}$ showed similar trends as those of $BOD_5$ and SS. At the HRT of 16 h, the removal efficiency of $COD_{Cr}$ in case of packed-bed reactor and Loop Reactor was 63.5%, 75.2% and that of $COD_{Mn}$ was 60.7%, 73.6% respectively. The average removal efficiencies of T-N and T-P increase as increasing the HRT. The removal efficiencies of T-N and T-P in Loop Reactor were 33.6% and 54.5% respectively at 16 h of the HRT and T-N and T-P were better removed in Loop Reactor. From this result, it was found that the performance of Loop Reactor was much higher than the performance of packed-bed reactor and the optimum HRT was 16 h.

Evaluation of the Radiochromic Film Dosimetry for a Small Curved Interface (휘어진 경계에서의 좁은 영역에 대한 Radiochromic 필름 도시메트리 평가)

  • A tumor on the eyelid is often treated using a high-energy electron beam, with a metallic eye shield inserted between the eyelid and the eyeball to preserve the patient's sight. Pretreatment quality assurance of the inner eyelid dose on the metallic shield requires a very small dosimetry tool. For enhanced accuracy, a flexible device fitting the curved interface between the eyelid and the shield is also required. The radiochromic film is the best candidate for this device. To measure the doses along the curved interface and small area, a 3-mm-wide strip of EBT2 film was inserted between the phantom eyelid and the shield. After irradiation with 6 MeV electron beams, the film was evaluated for the dose profile. An acrylic eye shield of the same size as the real eye shield was machined, and CT images free from metal artifacts were obtained. Monte Carlo simulation was performed on the CT images, taking into account eye shield material, such as tungsten, aluminum, and steel. The film-based interface dose distribution agreed with the MC calculation within 2.1%. In the small (millimeter scale) and curved region, radiochromic film dosimetry promises a satisfactory result with easy handling.

A Study on Removal of T-N by Loess Ball Using Synthetic Wastewater (Loess ball에 의한 총질소 제거에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the wastewater treatment was conducted to evaluate the removal efficiency of total nitrogen from synthetic wastewater in the F-STEP PROCESS $(anaerobic{\rightarrow}\;oxic\;{\rightarrow}\;anoxic)$ with loess ball as support metrics. The average removal efficiencies of total nitrogen and ammonia nitrogen were $83.0\%\;and\;84.4\%$, respectively. The average nitrification efficiency at the oxic area was $60.9\%$ in the pH range of effluent water between 4.8 and 6.0. On the other hand, in the case of pH range of effluent water between 6.5 and 7.5, the denitrification efficiency at the anoxic area was $96.3\%$. The average concentration of COD was 12.8 ppm and the removal efficiency of COD in the F-STEP PROCESS were $96.3\%$. In the case of SS, the average concentration was $7.0\%$ at the effluent.

Characteristics of Hydrography and Tidal Current in Hampyung Bay, the Western Coast of Korea (서해 함평만의 해수 물성구조 및 조류 특성)

  • Characteristics of hydrography and tidal currents were investigated in Hampyung Bay through in situ CTD data, tidal currents and elevations. According to the seasonal weather variability, hydrography showed the lower density with high temperature and low salinity in summer and the higher density with low temperature and high salinity in winter. In particular, the thermal structure like a tidal front was formed along the central channel at the neap tide of summer. The critical value of the parameter $SH(=log_{10}(H/U^3)$ where H is depth and U is $M_2$ tidal current amplitude) representing the formation position of tidal front was estimated from 2.4 to 3.5. In addition, the potential energy anomaly $({\phi})$ was ranged between 0.985 and 6.998 Joule/$m^3$, which gradually increased from the mouth into the inner bay. This front may be caused by the unique topography with wide tidal flat and the local difference of tidal current strength. The observed tidal currents at the mouth of bay showed that the ebb time was shorter than the flood time with the increase of depth. This asymmetric ebb-tide dominance is interpreted as a result of tidal distortion by the development of a shallow-water-constituent in Hampyung Bay with a wide macro-tidal flat.
