압입 시험의 기하학적 조건과 유동 응력 선도와의 관계에 관한 연구 (Evaluation of Flow Stress using Geometric Conditions of Ball Indentation Test)

  • Ball indentation tests have been used to estimate the mechanical properties of materials by some investigators. In this study, load-depth curves from ball indentation tests have been analysed using the geometric conditions of ball indentation. Series of numerical calculations and experimental results showed that those curves could be simplified by linear functions. After linearizing the indentation curves, the estimation process of the flow properties became straight forward and the scatter of results could be drastically reduced.

  • Mathematical description of arbitrarily-shaped tool surface are introduced by parametric patch approaches along with the related contact search algorithm. In order to maintain the advantages of membrane elements and to incoporate the bending effect, a BEAM(Bending Energy Augmented Membrane) element is proposed. Computation are carried out for some complex axisymmetric multi-stage deep drawing to verify the validity and the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Vickers hardness is defined as indenting force per unit area indented by a pyramid-shaped diamond at the hardness test. It is well known that Vickers hardness has a direct relation with the flow stress of the strain-hardened material. This relation was theoretically investigated and the result was summerized in a form of algebraic equation in the last paper. In the present paper and experimental validation of this theoretical relation is given along with mathematical formulas for conversion of Vickers hardness into the flow stress in the strain-hardened material for practical use.

  • The indentation process in the Vickers hardness test is a kind of controlled local plastic deformation. Vickers hardness is defined as indenting force per unit area indented by a pyramid-shaped diamond at the hardness test. That is a measure of mechanical resistance against indentation of a rigid body into the deformable material. Therefore it is well known that Vickers hardness has a direct relation with the flow stress of the strain-hardened tmaterial. This relation is theoretically investigated and the result is given for use in practice.

  • A new, simple method to determine the die shape using a streamline in extrusion is presented. This method assumes that a billet deforms naturally to minimize the energy input for the given process condition. Then, an optimal die shape can be determined along a streamline. Extrusion operations with two types of materials, strain-hardening material and strain-rate hardening material, are examined using this method. Predictions with the proposed method are compared with those by the previous optimizing model to show its efficiency.

  • In recent automotive industry, vehicle weight can be reduced by one-step forming of tailored blanks welded with two or more sheets of metal blanks. Mash seam welding shows an overlap joint, a much wider welding area, and heat affected zone(HAZ) than a laser welding. This paper deals with the forming characteristics of mash seam welded tailored blanks. Mash seam welded blanks of same or different thickness combinations were prepared, and tensile, hardness, erichsen, and dome stretching tests were done.

  • A finite element analysis was carried out for a 4:1 planar contraction die for polymer melts using the viscoelastic constitutive equation of Leonov. Viscoelastic fluids showed significant differences in pressure drop and birefringence in contraction and expansion flows. The pressure drop was higher and the birefringence smaller in expansion than in contraction flow. The difference increased with increasing flow rate. The nonlinear Leonov model was shown to describe the viscoelastic effects observed in experiments.

  • Tailor-welded blanks are made of two or more different blanks in thickness or material. So car body with tailor-welded blanks need not reinforcement panels. However in order to make stamping tools for tailor-welded blanks, die engineers should know about the exact position of the welding line after the part is drawn. The necessity of knowledge about the position of welding line needs forming simulation methodology as a prior step in tooling. Therefor some parts of the simulation methodology are proposed and compared with the experimental results.

  • 본 연구에서는 스트라치 시스템의 긴장설치과정 해석을 수행하기 위한 개선된 명시적 해석법을 제안하였다. 스트라치 시스템은 Stressed-Arch에서 유래한 용어로 슬리브에 의한 갭이 도입된 유동 하현재가 내부의 긴장재에 의한 초기장력의 도입으로 서서히 닫히게 되고, 이에 따라 전체 구조물이 상승하여 최종적인 아치형태의 구조물을 형성하는 독창적인 구조시스템이다. 스트라치 시스템의 초기장력 도입과정을 긴장설치(stress-erection process) 과정이라 하며, 초기곡률의 도입에 따라 유동 상현재에는 과도한 초기변형이 발생하여 소성거동에 의한 강체회전이 발생하는 불안정 구조물이 된다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 스트라치 시스템의 불안정 거동특성을 해석하기 위해서 소성힌지가 적용된 보-기둥요소를 사용하여 유동상현재를 모델링하였고, 불안정 구조물의 해석법에 효과적으로 사용되는 동적이완법의 개선된 알고리즘을 개선하여, 실제 스트라치 구조물의 긴장설치과정 해석을 수행하였으며, 실제 프로젝트에 대한 해석결과의 분석을 통하여 제안된 해석법의 적용성을 검증하였다.
