A Fundamental Study on Evaluation of Corrected Compression Index by Plasticity Index in Marine Clayey Soils (해성 점성토의 소성지수에 따른 보정압축지수 평가에 관한 기초연구)

  • The soil parameters important for the design of the soft ground are the compression index ($C_c$), the consolidation settlement and consolidation speed at the field. Compression index is obtained by laboratory consolidation test. In the laboratory consolidation test, sample disturbance always occurs. In order to correct the disturbance phenomena, the method of calculating the compression index proposed by Schmertmann (1955) is generally used. However, recent developments in sampling technology and Korean soil conditions are different from those proposed by Schmertmann. So it needs to be verified. In this study, each consolidation curve's cross void ratio is evaluated by doing consolidation test varying disturbance on high-plastic clay (CH), low-plastic clay (CL) and low-plastic silt (ML). The test results were $0.521e_0$ for low-plastic silt, $0.404e_0$ for low-plastic clay, and $0.458e_0$ for the high-plastic clay. This results were different from those of Schmertmann's suggested value of $0.42e_0$. Therefor we proposed a correction formula using the plastic index according to soil type. However, since the results of this study are limited test results, further studies on various korean soil are needed to suggest the compression index correction method according to the degree of plasticity index of soil.

Comparison between Direct and Indirect Implementation of Generalized Hoek and Brown Failure Criterion in Numerical Analysis Procedure (범용 Boek-Brown 파괴기준식의 직접 및 간접적 적용에 관한 수치해석과정의 비교 분석)

  • Friction angle and cohesion of rock masses can be estimated from Hoek and Brown failure criterion and then plastic corrections can be applied using Mohr-Coulomb yield function. This study finds that this estimation procedure would not be appropriate for weak rock masses and for cases where low confining stress is expected to develop. A procedure is outlined in this paper for estimating plastic corrections directly from Hoek and Brown material model. Comparative study shows that direct procedure would simulate non-linear failure surface better than indirect procedure especially in the low confining stress regime.

  • On the basis of detailed 3D finite-element (FE) limit analyses, the plastic limit load solutions for pipes with slanted circumferential through-wall cracks (TWCs) subjected to axial tension, global bending, and internal pressure are reported. The FE model and analysis procedure employed in the present numerical study were validated by comparing the present FE results with existing solutions for plastic limit loads of pipes with idealized TWCs. For the quantification of the effect of slanted crack on plastic limit load, slant correction factors for calculating the plastic limit loads of pipes with slanted TWCs from pipes with idealized TWCs are newly proposed from extensive 3D FE calculations. These slant-correction factors are presented in tabulated form for practical ranges of geometry and for each set of loading conditions.

An Analytical Study to evaluate Existing Stress of Steel Structural Member (철골구조물의 존재응력 추정에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a method to deduce existing stress of steel member in inelastic range. Based on the previous experimental study, modified factor method considering the local plastification due to stress concentration was proposed. Finite element analysis was performed to investigate the stress distribution around hole and the results of the finite element analysis were compared with those from the Hole Drilling Method in elastic-plastic range. As a result of applying a modified factor method, proposed method shows very good approximation of 2% error for exact value of stress in the plastic range.

  • In this study, using the stamping, analysis program, PAM STAMP, applied to the drawing result of springback analysis and draw analysis with applying on the best design planning as many times simulations from the initial stage of the die developing of automotive panels. Especially, after inspecting the design method with stamping analysis and springback analysis, write about the die development examples, using CADCEUS which is the software revising the amount of springback.

  • 하중 속도에 따른 콘크리트 재료의 역학적 특성은 구조물의 동적파괴거동에 영향을 미친다. 본 연구는, rigid-body-spring network를 이용하여 파괴해석을 수행하고, 거시적 시뮬레이션에서 속도효과를 표현하기 위하여 점소성 파괴모델을 적용하였다. 보정을 위해서 Perzyna 구성관계식의 점소성 계수들이 다양한 하중속도에 따른 직접인장실험을 통해서 결정되었다. 동정상승계수를 이용하여 하중 속도가 증가함에 따른 강도 증가를 표현하였고 이를 실험결과와 비교하였다. 다음으로 느린 하중속도와 빠른 하중속도에 따라 단순 콘크리트 보와 철근 콘크리트 보에 대한 휨 실험을 수행하였으며, 하중 속도에 따라서 서로 다른 균열 패턴을 관찰할 수 있었다. 빠른 하중은 보의 파괴가 국부적으로 나타나게 만드는데, 이는 속도 의존적 재료의 특성 때문이다. 구조적인 측면에서, 보강재는 느린 하중속도에서 균열의 크기를 줄이고 연성을 높이는 데 큰 영향을 미친다. 본 논문은 속도 의존적 거동에 대한 이해와 동적하중에 대한 보강효과를 제시한다.

Automatic Tool Compensation for an UHSS Automotive Component Using a Compensation Module (금형보정 모듈을 이용한 초고강도강 자동차부품용 프레스금형의 자동보정)

  • In the current study, automatic tool compensation is accomplished by using a finite element stamping analysis for a center roof rail made of UHSS in order to satisfy the specifications for shape accuracy. The initial blank shape is calculated from a finite element inverse analysis and potential forming defects such as tearing and wrinkling are determined by the finite element stamping analysis based on the initial tool shape. The blank shape is optimized to meet the shape requirements of the final product with the stamping analysis, and die compensation is determined with the information about springback. The specifications for shape accuracy were successfully achieved by the proposed die compensation scheme using the finite element stamping analysis. The current study demonstrates that the compensation tendency is similar when the proposed scheme is used or when the compensation is performed by trial and error in the press-shop. This similarity verifies that the automatic compensation scheme can be used effectively in the first stage of tool design especially for components made from UHSS.
