A Numerical Study for the Scalar Dissipation Rate and the Flame Curvature with Flame Propagation Velocity in a Lifted Flame (부상화염에서 화염전파속도에 따른 스칼라소산율과 곡률반경에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • Flame propagation velocity is the one of the main mechanism of the stabilization of triple flame. To quantity the triple flame propagation velocity, Bilger presents the triple flame propagation velocity, depending on the mixture fraction gradient, based on the laminar jet flow theory. However, in spite of these many analyses, there has not been any attempt to quantify the triple flame propagation velocity with the flame radius of curvature and scalar dissipation rate. In the present research, there was discussion about the radius of flame curvature and scalar dissipation rate, through the numerical study. As a result, we have known that the flame propagation velocity was linear with the nozzle exit velocity and scalar dissipation rate decreases nonlinearly with the flame propagation velocity and radius of curvature of flame increases linearly. Also radius of curvature of flame decreases non-linearly with the scalar dissipation rate. Therefore, we ascertained that there was corelation among the scalar dissipation rate, radius of flame curvature and flame propagation velocity.

A Numerical Study on Acoustic Damping Induced by Gap between Baffled Injectors in a Model Rocket Combustor (모형 로켓 연소실에서 배플형 분사기의 간극에 의한 음향 감쇠 효과에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • Acoustic damping induced by gap width between baffled injectors is investigated numerically, which are installed to suppress pressure oscillations in a model rocket combustor. The previous work reported that the baffled injectors show larger acoustic damping with the gap width between injectors. It is simulated numerically and its mechanism is examined. Damping factors are calculated as a function of gap width and it is found that the optimum gap is 0.1 mm or so. For understanding of the improved damping induced by the gap, dissipation rate of turbulent kinetic energy and vorticity are calculated as a function of the gap. Both parameters have their maximum values at the specific gap and especially, the dissipation rate has the same profile as that of damping factor. It verifies that the improved damping made by the gap is attributed to the increased acoustic-energy dissipation.

The Leaching of Gold-silver from Refractory Gold Concentrate by Chlorine-hypochlorite Solution (염소-차아염소산 용액에 의한 저항성 금 정광으로부터 Gold-silver 용출)

  • Leaching experiments of gold and silver from roasted concentrate were carried out using a chlorine-hypochlorite solution. The leaching rate of gold was 75% at 1.5:1 ratio of chlorine and hypochlorite and increased to 81% with adding 1 M NaCl. However, at 1% pulp density and at $65^{\circ}C$, the leaching rates of Au were close to 100%. XRD analysis identified quartz in the solid residues after digestion of roasted concentrate with aqua regia or chlorine-hypochloride leaching solution. This suggests that the gold may not be leached out of the quartz in aqua regia or chlorine-hypochlorite solution. In order to leach the gold from the quartz, the concentrate will have to be pre-treated through ultra-fine grinding or treated with stronger oxidative agents.

Mixing of Sea Waters in the Northern Part of the East China Sea in Summer (하계 동중국해 북부 해역에서의 해수 혼합)

  • In order to investigate the mixing of sea waters on the continental shelf in the northern East China Sea, Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute conducted hydrographic surveys including turbulence measurements using the R/V Eardo in August 2005 and August 2006. The turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rates based on velocity shear measurements are estimated to be $10^{-7}{\sim}10^{4}$, $10^{-7}{\sim}10^{-6}$, and $10^{-7}$ W/kg in the surface layer, bottom layer, and lower thermocline, respectively. The data sets suggest that surface layer water is being constantly mixed by winds. High dissipation rate in the lower thermocline seems to be caused by internal waves. The bottom layer with high dissipation rate also shows high turbidity, indicating the effect of tidal stirring turbulence. The vertical eddy diffusivities are $10^{-3}{\sim}10^{-2}m^2/s$ near the bottom, and these high values appear to arise from both the low stability and high turbulent mixing.

In the present research, we have checked the results of numerical simulation with experiment and numerical analysis and verified the flame propagation velocity with a scalar dissipation rate proposed by Bilger through the numerical simulation. Also we have clarified that flame propagation velocity was depended on the radius of flame curvature and scalar dissipation rate.

  • 위성은 일단 한 번 발사하고 나면 운용궤도상에서 수리 및 회수가 거의 불가능하기 때문에 위성에 들어가는 모든 개발 부품들은 완벽한 설계, 충분한 해석, 고 작업도의 제작, 그리고 다양한 시험이 반드시 수반되어야 한다. 위성시스템에서 전자 소자의 신뢰성에 영향을 주는 인자는 다양하다. 과도한 열은 전자소자의 실패를 유발해서 결과적으로는 전체 위성의 실패를 유도할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 다목적 실용위성 2호의 고전력 소산 전장품의 열부하 완화를 위한 방안을 경우별로 연구 비교하였다. 고전력 소산 전장품의 열부하를 완화하기 위해서는 하우징 두께의 증가가 필요하며, 전력조절기의 다이오드나 트랜지스터처럼 전력소산이 큰 소자에 대해서는 장착위치를 변경하거나 장착 부분의 열전도율을 증가시키는 방법이 필요하다. 또한 전력조절기처럼 장착면이 좁은 경우에는 복사의 영향이 크며, 이러한 전장품의 열부하를 완화하기 위해서는 주위 벽면의 온도를 낮추거나 하우징 표면 방사율을 증가시키는 방법이 효과적임이 알 수 있다.

  • A numerical analysis of reactive flow in a liftoff flame is accomplished to elucidate the characteristics of liftoff flame. To verify reliance of numerical calculation, the liftoff heights of liftoff flame for various fuel exit velocities are compared between the existing experimental research results and the present calculation results. The flame propagation velocity is conducted at the flow redirection point which is on a stoichiometric line ahead of flame front. This point was selected constant distance from triple point regardless of fuel exit velocity at the previous research. This causes considerable errors for the flame propagation velocity and scalar dissipation rate. The main issue of the present research is to establish the resonable method to select the redirection point and so that to clarify the relationship between flame propagation velocity and scalar dissipation rate, which is the core properties in a triple flame stability.

  • In the previous short communication, the authors reported the applicability of Sodium Hyplochoride solution to silkworm rearing industry as a disinfectant after confirmed the fact that the chemical agent is capable to kill most of the pathogens of silkworm diseases. The authors, in the present study, attempted to investigate the influence of the chemical on the growth of silkworm larvae and the effect on the disinfection of silkworm larvae to inactivate the pathogen of yellow muscardine disease, Isaria farinosa and the results obtained are summarized as fellows. 1. The chemical agent did not affect the growth of silkworm larvae, when it was applied on silk-worm body with the concentration of 1,3,5 per cent of the agent during the rearing period. 2. The Sodium Hypochloride solution did not give any damage to silkworm larvae when larvae were fed up with 1,3,5 per cent of the solution. 3. In the bioassay of the solution on disinfection of larvae inoculated with yellow muscardine disease pathogen, the fact that the agent could control the disease was observed by showing much low infection rate in 3.5 per cent treatment compared to non-treatment control.

  • 경험적으로 방법에 의존해온 대형 진동햄머다짐의 영향심도를 평가하고자 수치해석적인 기법을 사용하였다. 수치해석적인 기법을 사용하였다. 수치해석에 사용한 프로그램은 범용 유한요소 해석프로그램인 ABAQUS이며, 인천 신공항 매립지에서 시험 시공한 대형 진동햄머다짐의 자료와 수치해석한 결과의 비교를 통해 검증하였다. 수치해성에 사용한 물성은 현장시험과 실내시험을통해 구하였으며 영향깊이는 지반이 동적 하중에 변형할 때 소산하는 소성변형율에너지량의 분포를 판정하였다. 수치해석결과 소성변형율에너지 소산량의 시간에 따른 변화로부터 다짐의 영향깊이 및 수평영향거리를 추정할 수 있었다. 소성변형율에너지 수렴시의 외부에너지를 Menard의 경험식에 적용할 경우 영향깊이를 판정할 수 있음을 알았다. 따라서 Menardtlr으로부터 영향깊이를 다짐하는데 필요한 최소한의 에너지를 구할수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • The present study has numerically investigated the effects of fuel-side dilution and pressure on flame structure and extinction scalar dissipation rate of turbulent syngas nonpremixedd flames. Numerical results indicate that for highly diluted case, peak temperature is decreased and stoichiometric mixture fraction is increased. By decreasing the pressure and the nitrgen dilution levelcreased, the extinction scalar dissipation rate is increased.
