  • Modern men are much more interested in their appearance than ever before, as well as showing an increased need for uniqueness in order to construct their own sphere and pursue differentiation from others. Besides, changes in life style and the aesthetic sense are causing men to pursue various kinds of clothing benefits so that they want a suit with characteristics beyond the stereotyped design and style. They have started to be actively engaged in clothing purchases, forming a driving force for the growth of the male suit market. Hence, this study has significance in that it offers data conducive to consumers' custom suit purchase by reviewing data on the present condition of the custom suit market and bespoke suits. In addition, it aims to give a summary on the theoretical bases of preceding studies, including the need for uniqueness, pursuit of clothing benefit and concern for the appearance of male consumers, as well as examining the factors that influence on their bespoke suit purchase intentions. Accordingly, this work intends to construct a basic environment for consumers to approach the custom suit market easily and pave the way for male suit markets through offering marketing data and information that is helpful for custom suit-related markets.

A Study of Older Consumers' Seeking Benefits and Purchase Intentions for and Their Attitudes towards Functional Materials (노년층 소비자의 기능성 소재 추구 혜택, 태도 및 구매 의도에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study are to examine older consumers' seeking benefits and purchase intentions for functional materials and their attitudes towards such materials and investigate the differences between purchasers and non-purchasers of functional materials in their seeking benefits for functional materials and their emphasis on self development and pursuit of fashion. In doing so, this study samples the older adult population living in Seoul, Busan, and Gyeonggi Province and analyzes 267 questionnaire responses obtained from the sampled older consumers. The main findings from the analysis are as follows: First, the older consumers' seeking benefits for functional materials were represented by three different dimensions: reliability, brands/fashion, and others-oriented pursuit. Second, the influence on the dimension of reliability was more significant in the order of knowledge on functional materials, pursuit of fashion, and emphasis on self-development the interest in garments and the pursuit of fashion were found to have significant influence on the dimensions of brands/fashion and others-oriented pursuit. Third, the respondents' attitudes towards functional materials showed significant correlations with the dimensions of reliability and others-oriented pursuit, while their purchase intentions for functional materials were significantly influenced by the dimensions of reliability and brands/fashion. Finally, when the differences in the respondents' seeking benefits for functional materials and their pursuit of fashion and emphasis on self-development were investigated according to whether or not they had ever purchased clothes made from any functional material, the group of purchasers showed a higher mean value than the non-purchaser group.

A Study on Apparel Benefits and Buying Behavior according to Values and Lifestyles (주부의 가치관에 따른 소비자 유형별 의복추구혜택과 구매관련행동 특성)

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to classify female consumers on VALS, 2) to identify the differences of psychological characteristics and demographics among the classified groups, and 3) to investigate the apparel benefits, buying behavior, shopping practices and psychological characteristics of each groups. For the study, a sample of 340 female consumers participated in this survey research. The data was analyzed utilizing descriptive statistics, factor analysis, cluster analysis, $\chi^2$-test, one-way ANOVA and Duncan test. Seven dimensions of values were identified by factor analysis: Consumption-oriented, Achievement-oriented , Diligence/sincerity-oriented, Pessimistic value tendencious, conservative/conventional value oriented, Dignity-oriented and Socialite-oriented. Based on these dimensions female consumers classified into three clusters: inner values-directed group, passive/inactive group, and achievement-oriented group. Achievement-oriented group showed the highest scores in optimum stimulation level and materialism, and tended to be younger and be employed than the other two groups. Both inner values-directed group and achievement-oriented group showed higher scores in self-expression/individuality and quality out of five apparel benefit than passive/inactive group. Innovative communicators, fashion innovators and fashion opinion leaders were mostly in the achievement-oriented group, while fashion followers and fashion indifferents were mostly in the passive/inactive group. It was revealed that achievement-oriented group had a larger number of fashionable clothing items and experienced more activities in vogue. Also, there were significant group differences in shopping practice, such as average monthly allowance, number of annual purchase clothing items.

A Study on the Self-Esteem, Appearance Satisfaction, and Clothing Benefits Pursuit of Middle-Aged Consumers according to the Gap between Subjective Age and Real Age (중년소비자의 주관적 연령 차이에 따른 자아존중감과 외모만족도 및 의복추구혜택)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate differences in self-esteem, appearance satisfaction, and clothing benefit pursuit among middle-aged consumer groups according to the gap between their subjective age and real age. For the study, the questionnaire was developed by the author and distributed to male and female consumers in their forties or fifties on september 1~10, 2014. A total of 470 questionnaires was collected and used for the final analysis. Data were analyzed by frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA and Tukey's test, using the SPSS 18.0 Package Program. The findings were summarized as follows. The respondents were clustered in three groups including a group with younger subjective age than real age, a group with same subjective age group to real age, and a group with older subjective age group than real age, The younger subjective age group and same subjective age group showed greater self-esteem and appearance satisfaction than the other group. There were significant differences in four factors of clothing benefit pursuit including pursuit of fashion, pursuit of youth, pursuit of leisure, and pursuit of conformity among these three age groups. The younger subjective age group and same subjective age group showed greater importance on pursuit of fashion, pursuit of youth, and pursuit of leisure, whereas the older subjective age group did on pursuit of conformity.

  • Corporate Culture Marketing is a marketing tool that enhances a company's cultural image or conveys its image through culture. Culture Consumer value analysis is important predictive data in identifying the value and pursuit of life in individual consumption behavior, explaining the choice behavior of culture consumers, and serves as the basis for decision making. The research method was linked to the text mining and opinion mining techniques of big data, and extracted positive, negative and neutral words. The analysis targets culture consumers participating in concerts at Hyundai Card's 'Super Concert', which is subject to domestic consumers, and CJ ENM's 'KCON', which is subject to foreign consumers. The culture consumer value elements of corporate culture marketing are the basic conditions, and they were derived as 'Consensus Communication (Expression of Sensibility)', 'Participation Sharing(VIP Belonging)', 'Social Change Issue', 'Differentiating Services', 'Price Discount Benefit' and 'Location Quality'. In the future, we will need to foster 'Culture Technology Marketers' and apply them in areas such as arts management planning, cultural investment, cultural distribution, cultural space, Corporate Culture, CSR and K-pop marketing to enhance corporate interests and brand value and enhance brand value.

A Study on Purchasing Behaviors of Fur Clothing Consumers according to Benefits Sought (모피의류시장의 현황과 추구혜택에 따른 모피의류 소비자의 구매행동에 관한 연구)

  • This research investigated the purchasing behaviors of fur clothing consumers to verify fur clothing consumption and to establish marketing strategies for the fur clothing market. Since fur clothing has clear characteristics distinguishing it from other clothes, there are many differences in customers' interest. Therefore, it is needed to identify some differences in the customers' interest by their own buying habits. A survey was conducted with a questionnaire and revised by using a theoretical background. Questionnaires were given to 322 ladies in their over 20s. SPSS 12.0 was used to analyse the result with analysis of frequency, a primary factor, crossing, cluster and ANOVA. There were several results as follows. First, purchase behaviors of fur clothing were significantly different between groups divided by demographic variables such as marital status, age, and income level of household. Second, factor analysis on sought clothing benefits resulted in 4 dimensions such as symbolic value, brand value, economical value and practical value. Cluster analysis on the 4 factors of clothing benefits being sought resulted in 3 groups such as one group pursuing symbolism, one group pursuing practicism/economism and a group pursuing brand. Third, purchase behaviors of fur clothing and demographic variables were significantly different between the groups divided by clothing benefits being sought.

The Effect of Duty Free Shop Consumers' Store Benefits Sought and Fashion Merchandise Shopping Orientation on Store Satisfaction (면세점 이용 소비자의 점포 추구혜택 및 패션제품 쇼핑성향이 점포 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of duty free shop consumers' store benefits sought and fashion merchandise shopping orientation on store satisfaction. Survey data were collected from questionnaires filled out by 194 domestic consumers who had purchase experience of fashion goods in duty free shops located in Korea. The data were analyzed by reliability analysis, factor analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, the store benefits sought was categorized into five factors such as pursuit of convenience, salesperson/atmosphere, promotion, product quality, and product fashionability/variety. The fashion merchandise shopping orientation was categorized into six factors such as pleasure orientation, pursuit of fashion, pursuit of brand, planned orientation, pursuit of confidence, and convenience orientation. The store satisfaction was categorized into six factors such as atmosphere/reputation of store, promotion, product fashionability/variety, convenience, price, and salesperson. Second, the store benefits sought, composed of pursuit of convenience, salesperson/atmosphere, promotion, product quality, and product fashionability/variety, had an effect on the store satisfaction. Third, the shopping orientation such as pleasure orientation, pursuit of fashion, pursuit of brand, and planned orientation, with the exception of pursuit of confidence and convenience orientation, had an effect on the store satisfaction.

  • Consumers show higher interest in fishery products processed food that are effective for the personal health and good for convenience, nourishment and taste. But current domestic research for fishery products processed food is marginal. In this respect, this research systematically analyzes consumers' consumption patterns and relationship to comsumer's pursuable benefit, reference for selection, satisfaction level and purpose of purchase. This research shows results as following. Consumers consider product information the most important in reference for selection, and convinience the highest in pursuable benefit. And this research analyze influence of reference for selection and pursuable benefit on satisfaction level and purpose of purchase using demographic properties as control variables. The variables which affect satisfaction level are residential district(region), recipe, nutrient, convenience, economy and the variables affect purpose of purchase are nutrient, convenienct, satisfaction level. If this result is used to develop new products and industrialize fishery products processed food, consumer market of fishery products processed food can be expanded. And this result can be utilized as fundamental reference for sales promotion.

The Influence of Male Consumers' Clothing Benefits Sought on Purchase Intention of Functional Clothing : Focused on Well-being Health Consciousness and Age (남성 소비자의 의복추구혜택이 기능성 소재 의류제품 구매의도에 미치는 영향 : 웰빙건강의식과 연령을 중심으로)

  • The volume of the functional clothing market is gradually growing in Korea. This study intended to identify the relationship among benefits sought in clothing, well-being health consciousness, age, and purchase intention of functional clothing. A survey data was collected from 380 male ranging from 20 to 59 years old and was analyzed SPSS 17.0. As a result, six clothing benefit factors were identified and labeled as attraction improvement, social position, figure flaw compensation, individuality, comfort, and economy. The influences of benefits sought in clothing on the purchase intention was found. Also well-being health consciousness and age moderated the effects of benefits sought in clothing on the purchase intention.

Interactive Effects of Usage-Situations and Personal Characteristics on Benefit Soughts of Clothing and Preference of Brand Type (상황과 소비자 특성의 추구 혜택자 선호 브랜드 유형에 대한 영향)

  • The purposes of this study were 1) to test the interactive effects of usage-situation (wedding receptions, home, and vacation) and personal characteristics (age, income, education, job or self-monitoring) on clothing benefits sought and 2) to identify brand type preference of consumer groups segmented by age, income, education, job or self-monitoring within a situation. The data were collected via a questionnaire from 601 housewives of ages 20's∼ 50's living in Seoul, Korea. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, repeated measure two-way ANOVA and Chi-square test. The results of this study were as follows. First, by repeated measure tow-way ANOVA, there were significant interactions of age and situation, and interactions of education and situation on Youth/Fashion benefits and Brand-value benefits. And interactive effects of education and situation on Self-expression benefits and Economic-value benefits were significant by repeated measure two-way A NOVA. Second, based on x2-test, brand type preference was significant difference between consumer groups segmented by age, education and job within a situation. And preferences of brand type were different among usage situations.
