Technological Innovation and Broadcasting Industry - The Introduction of UHDTV and Its Policy Implications (기술혁신과 방송 산업: UHDTV 도입의 정책적 함의)

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine how technological innovation and increasing competition affect the relationship among market players and what policy issues are emerging through the case of UHDTV. There emerges sharp conflicts among consumer-electronics companies, telcos, terrestrial broadcasting companies and pay-TV companies since they all have different perspectives and interests regarding the way UHDTV services are introduced in the competitive broadcasting market. Dualized governance structure leads to aggravating conflicts. While the case of UHDTV demonstrates clearly that technological innovation and more competition into the market create conflicts among these market players, it is well expected that we will see very often similar conflicts and policy chaos in this innovative and competitive broadcasting industry.

  • AeroMACS spectrum is a national resource internationally allocated by ITU at WRC-07. AeroMACS is an airport broadband mobile communication infrastructure based on WiMAX-based IEEE 802.16e that enables real-time video, graphics, voice, and high-speed data transmission. With the approval of ICAO's development technology standards in 2008, 50 airports in 11 countries have already completed the testing of D-TAXI or A-SMGCS technology using the AeroMACS infrastructure in 2019, starting in the United States in 2009. With many advantages in safety and convenience in terrestrial telecommunications operations, the system is becoming an area of performance improvement for airport operations in accordance with ICAO's ASBU plan. This paper examines the current status of domestic development of AeroMACS and lists service areas applicable to airlines and operators. It also seeks to promote safe and efficient next-generation airport mobile communication system services by presenting feasible partners management in the mobile area and use of aircraft communication systems for active technology development.

An Analysis of the Migration of the Public Institutes workers on Resettlement to Local cities (혁신도시 이전공공기관 종사자의 거주이전 결정요인 분석)

  • This paper identify factors of migration of employees' household who work for relocated public institutions. As a factors of migration, we consider individual and household characteristics, the gravity model of distance and population and so on. Considering discrete dependant variable and structure of data, we employ the logistic multilevel model and random intercept model. The result indicates employees' who are female, 30s and 40s, higher education level(PhD) and whose spouse are unemployed tend to transfer their residential registration to new city near relocated public institution. Regarding regional variable, the distance from employee's previous residential location and number of migration of prior year are statistically significant. Also the model indicate regional economy, educational and residential environment of new city influence employee's decision for transferring residential registration.

  • The third generation mobile communications system requiring the reliable multimedia data transmission has provided with the reliable voice, data and video services over the variable propagation environment. However the broadband wireless multiple access technologies cause Inter Symbol Interference(ISI) or Multiple Access Interference(MAI) to degrade the performance of CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) system. Constant Modulus Algorithm which is frequently used as the adaptive blind equalizers to remove the interfering signal has ill-convergence phenomenon without proper initialization. In this paper, new blind equalization method based on conventional CMA is proposed to improve the channel efficiency, and through computer simulation this is tested over the time varying fading environment of mobile communication system. consequently, new blind equalization method into concatenated Kalman filter with CMA is verified better than conventional CMA through adopting minimum mean square errors and eye- pattern obtained from algorithm are compared.

  • The technology of WiBro, combining advantages of high speed internet and wireless internet provides the effectiveness and convenience provided by broadband and convergence. WiBro has developed due to supports of the related industries. The advancement of WiBro have created driving force for network advancement. WiBro is a niche market among high speed Internet, wireless LAN, Mobile phone, wireless internet. Through building relationship between market share and the existed telecommunication service, WiBro could improve the convenience of users. The security controls have to be built considering vulnerabilities of WiBro. Based on the study, the architecture of WiBro was suggested through reviewing the vulnerabilities and security controls in the wireless network and wire network. The appropriate security measures to be applied in the environment of WiBro. The outcomes of the study could improve the usage of WiBro.

  • The Augmented Reality, as a technology caught the spotlight as a next generation's technology of inserting 3D virtual objects in the space of reality seen through the camera, can maximize the learning effects by inducing user's absorption and interest using interaction between user and objects. Recently, as the movile devices having excellent mobility and portability are generalized, the diversified augmented reality are introduced using mobile devices. In this article, a 3D fish encyclopedia system augmented from the mobile environment was designed to provide the user with learning contents focusing on the sense of absorption and an interest. This system is intened to provide helps to learn about the fishes by recognizing the pictures of fishes in the encyclopedia as marker, bringing out the 3D model stored in server and displaying in the mobile environment.

  • Telematics is a wireless data communication system that provides various information services for driver's the safety or entertainment, and it makes drivers possible to use those services in the moving space, as if he/she is at home or at office. As telecommunication technology develops and Telematics market grows larger, standard platform for the intelligent telematics is required. This paper describes the structure and module control design of the intelligent telematics that recognizes driver's needs and pushes customized services to the driver at real-time.

  • Conventional IT device has been evolving into smart device based on more powerful computing, the adoption of platforms, and next generation networking. There are not many empirical studies with regard to the early adoption stage of smart IT technology devices. This paper aims to investigate intention to use smart device based an extended technology acceptance model (TAM) with flow empirically. We get the results that there are positive influences among multidimensional user characteristics and flow, perceived usefulness and the intention to use. According to this results, companies which want to dominate the market in advance should understand the characteristics of potential consumers in developing marketing strategies and contents.

  • The next generation of wireless communication system is expected to provide users with wireless multimedia services such as high speed internet access and wireless mobile computing. Depending on the Quality of Service(QoS) requirements and different applications per user, many wireless communication systems have been proposed. The simple decoding algorithm of space-time block coding is based on the assumption of flat fading channel, where no intersymbol interference exists. In this paper, we propose to combine space-time transmit diversity with adaptive equalizer. The proposed system effectively eliminates interference caused by multipath environment. Simulation results show that the proposed system provides improved bit error rate performance.

Performance Analysis of Cross-Layer Handoff Scheme in IP-Based Next-Generation Wireless Networks (IP기반 차세대 무선 네트워크에서의 교차계층 핸드오프 기법의 성능 분석)

  • The development of wireless network technology and the increasing use of wireless networks to mobile users with a variety of wireless network systems has arisen. Wireless sensor networks, they can be nested together, and the need to switch between the network, depending on your needs. Next Generation Wireless Networks(NGWN) gives the mobile user a wide coverage and optimized service etc. Previous hand off management protocol is not enough to secure support of the NGWN application program. Cross-layer Handoff(CLH) protocol technique has been developed to support between and inside networks of handoff management of NGWN. CLH supports mobility management in a wireless network environment and also utilizes mobility speed and handoff signaling delay information to improve the handoff performance ability. For the analysis of handoff performance ability, we analyzed sensitivity of link layer and network layer, therefore, CLH technique is suggested based on this analysis.
