This study measured the environmental efficiency of 21 international airports based on sustainability reports issued by each airport for 2018. As many sectors in the industry paid attention to social and environmental responsibilities, airport operators comprise one of the leading sectors that streamlined their facilities to become increasingly sustainable and environmental. Nevertheless, studies on the environmental operations of airports are insufficient compared with studies on economic or operational efficiency. Therefore, the current study aims to determine any possible improvement in the environmental inefficiency of airports with the utilization of directional distance function (DDF) and to examine operational efficiency with the application of the data envelopment analysis (DEA). The majority of airports have operated their facilities efficiently, but not all have effectively managed pollutants generated by airports. Furthermore, many airports can still potentially reduce CO₂ and water consumption. This study suggests several implementable environmental improvements to the aviation sector. Moreover, other industrial sectors may use the research as a benchmark for enhancing environmental efficiency.

This research has been carried out for assessing the competitiveness of the major Asian airports based on the quality of service provision. Five airports were selected for evaluation: Hong Kong, Singapore Changi, Tokyo Narita, Bangkok Don Muang, and Seoul Incheon International Airport. For evaluation of these selected airports, AHP and IPA techniques were applied. Five main factors were defined through a literature review of previous studies: concreteness, convenience, economic efficiency, respondency, and accessability. Hong Kong International Airport had the strongest airport in the Asian region, followed by Incheon International Airport. The least competitive airports were Bangkok and Tokyo Narita International Airport in regards to users' perception for the provision of services at the airport.

This study started with the question of whether the percentage of non-aeronautical revenues at Incheon airport was extremely high when compared with other international airports. Although aeronautical revenues for the airport based on the traditional business model have the limits to grow due to various regulations, stakeholders concerned about improving the competitiveness recently have been interested in increasing non-aeronautical revenues. This study deals with the effect of non-aeronautical revenues at international airports on airport charges as the extent of airport privatization get stronger. To examine hypotheses, we collected international data from trustful sources. Finally, we conducted an empirical analysis of 178 airports worldwide. As a result, the higher the percentage of non-aeronautical revenues at international airports, the lower the airport charges were. Besides, the private equity ratio positively moderated the relationship between the percentage of non-aeronautical revenues and airport charges. Privatization of airports may offset the effects of reduced airport charges through increased commercial activity. Graphical display for moderation effect is offered to facilitate comprehension.

Countries recognize seriousness and concern about aviation terrorism, try to stamp out of it but aviation terrorism has been increasing in the world. Airport security is completely up to the result of security screening for passengers, check-in baggages and cargo at the check point. To complete effectively human and physical screening at the airport, it is essential to secure modernized screening equipment and specialized security screener, and airport security supervisor to supervising them. In this study, A survey conducted to find out the effect on screening equipment operating factors of airport security supervisor's individual attitude. The results of the study are as follow First, the duty view of airport security supervisor meaningfully affect expertise of screening equipment operating factors, satisfaction, reliability, and education and training, national point of view meaningfullly doesn't affect screening equipment operating factors. Second, the working condition effects on the education and training, if the working condition is getting better, intent to change occupation is getting lower. Third, duty stress meaningfully effects on the intent to change occupation, now airport security supervisor works in poor condition. Therefore, airport security supervisor needs to be prude of protecting the airport from the terrorism and various attacks and various kinds of aviation security regulations and procedures and comply with operating standards and keep the life of the country and its people, and needs to change awareness. And It is nessasary for government or airport authority or airline to prepare countermeasure for the improvement of their labor conditions.

There have been various research in analyzing airport productivity such as measuring total factor productivity using the models of translog cost function. DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) model is very useful in measuring productivity with linear programming when the output is not clearly identified and measured quantitatively in such complex facilities as airport. This study is to measure airport productivity using DEA approach for Northeast Asia. Seven international airports were analyzed including Incheon International Airport in Korea, Cheklapkok Airport in Hongkong, Narita Airport in Japan, and Changi Airport in Singapore. With the productivity measured, we can identify one of the important aspects of comparative advantage in hub competition in Asia.

This paper is concerned with departure passengers' dwell time analysis using real system data. Previous researches emphasize the importance of dwell time analysis from perspective of airport terminal planning and non-aeronautical revenue. However, short-term airport operation using passengers' dwell time is considered impossible due to absence of passengers' behavior data. Recently, in accordance with the wave of smart airport, world leading airports are systematically collecting passenger data. So there is high possibility of analyzing passengers' dwell time with the data stacked in the airport database. We conducted dwell time analysis using data from Incheon Int'l airport. In order to handle passenger data, we adapted clustering algorithm which is one of data mining techniques. As a clustering result, passengers are divided into 3 clusters. One is the cluster for passengers whose dwell time is relatively short and who tend to spend longer time in the airside. Another is the cluster for passengers who have near 3 hours dwell time. The other is the cluster for passengers whose total dwell time is extremely long.

인천공항 웹사이트에 공개되어 있는 여객운항 데이터를 수집하여 공항정시운항분석을 위한 데이터마트를 두 가지 구축하였다. 이를 바탕으로 항공사별, 국가별, 출항지별, 목적지별 출도착 패턴분석을 실시하였다. 각 데이터마트는 요일, 시간 등과 같은 시간차원, 운항도시, 경도좌표, 위도좌표등과 같은 공간차원, 항공사, 공항게이트, 지연여부, 경유여부, 출도착여부 등과 같은 일반차원으로 구성되며, 예정시간, 실제시간, 지연시간, 지연율 등과 같은 측정지표를 가지고 있다. 특히 데이터전처리 과정을 통해 각 운항도시의 경. 위도 좌표값을 추가하였고, 이에 따라 세계지도 위에 정보를 디스플레이하는 시각화 분석도 실현 가능하게 되었다.

Busan Gimhae Airport is a major airline base in Busan Gyeongnam and is close to Busan Harbor, With close the five largest ports in the world, GimHae has not been developed to fit the size and role of the port. Currently, there is an increasing number of flights and airline companies in use, but it is already foreseen that the airport has become a saturating airport and a military airport. Therefore, the lack of awareness of the importance of GimHae Airport and the lack of routes for airlines are a problem for KimHae Airport. This study considers the reduction of logistics cost and time due to the expansion of the international airport by anticipating the development of Busan International Airport centered on the ship supplies logistics based on the present point of time and the development plan of Busan Kimhae Airport. In addition, we review the priority of major air routes based on prefabricated logistics, and examine the contributions to the port logistics industry in Busan.
