The relationship of sexual attitude, ego-resiliency, and sexual autonomy in nursing students (간호대학생의 성태도, 자아탄력성과 성적자율성간의 관계)

  • In this study, we aimed to identify the relationship between sexual attitude, ego-resiliency, and sexual autonomy in nursing students. The subjects were 226 nursing students who recruited from one college. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 program. The sexual attitude was positively correlated with ego-resiliency (r=.169, p=.011). Also, ego-resiliency and sexual autonomy was positively correlated (r=.148, p=.026). Factors significantly influencing sexual autonomy in nursing students were ego-resiliency (${\beta}=.138$, p=.048), sexual characteristic of participant (${\beta}=-.149$, p=.038), and dating experience (${\beta}=.170$, p=.014). This study showed that the nursing intervention for boosting ego-resiliency and sexual autonomy through healthy and sound dating experience should be required in nursing students.

Convergence Study on Marital intimacy, spousal support, sexual autonomy and empowerment on married immigrant Vietnamese women in Korea (결혼이주 베트남여성의 부부친밀감, 배우자지지, 성적자율성과 임파워먼트 관계 융합연구)

  • This study was attempted to identify the marital intimacy, spousal support, sexual autonomy and empowerment of married immigrant Vietnamese women. This study was conducted to 119 Vietnamese women who migrated for marriage, and it took place from May to September, 2018. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Marital intimacy $3.17{\pm}0.69$, spousal support $3.45{\pm}0.94$, sexual autonomy $3.70{\pm}0.83$ and varied according to educational level(p=.011), and empowerment varied according to economic level(p<.001). There was a difference in intimacy and support depending on the marriage period. There is a very strong correlation between variables(p<.005). Married immigrant women showed moderate marital intimacy, spousal support, high correlation with sexual autonomy and two variables, and empowerment correlated with sexual autonomy. Based on these findings, it seems to be necessary to find a way to increase the empowerment of Vietnamese women and to develop an intervention programs.

Factors Affecting Sexual Autonomy among Female University Students (여대생의 성적 자율성에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study examined the factors affecting the sexual autonomy of female university students to provide the basic data for developing an intervention program for sex education. The data was collected from 322 female college students and analyzed with a t-test and multiple regression using the SPSS 21.0 program. The significant factors of sexual autonomy were intercourse experience (${\beta}=0.115$, p=.040), sex knowledge (${\beta}=0.118$, p=.028), permissiveness of sexual violence (${\beta}=-0.290$, p<.001), and the perception of unwed pregnancy (${\beta}=-0.104$, p=.048). These factors explained 21.7% of the variance in sexual autonomy. In conclusion, there is a need to develop a sex education program to increase sexual autonomy considering the factors affecting sexual autonomy.

An analysis of the convergent influence of spouse support, sexual autonomy, sexual satisfaction on self-efficacy in married immigrant women in South Korea (결혼이주여성의 배우자지지, 성적자율성, 성생활만족이 자기효능감에 미치는 융합적인 영향 분석)

  • This descriptive study was intended to investigate the influence of spouse support, sexual autonomy, and sexual satisfaction on self-efficacy in married immigrant women in South Korea. Data was collected from 171 married immigrant women from Jan to Mar 2019. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Multiple Regression Analysis. As a result of analysis, spouse support 3.64±0.86, sexual autonomy 3.44±0.93, sexual satisfaction 3.14 ±0.90, self-efficacy 3.06±0.64 and there was a high positive correlation among all variables(p<.01). Sex-related variables, sexual autonomy and sexual satisfaction, were identified as strong predictors for self-efficacy, and their explanation power was 26.9%. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to develop a variety programs to enhance the self-efficacy of married immigrant women and to seek practical approaches to that effect.

A Study on Sexual Attitude, Autonomy and Harassment Experience of College Students (대학생의 성 태도, 성적 자율성 및 성희롱 경험에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships among sexual attitudes, autonomy, and harassment experience and to find out how each factor affects the sexual attitudes of college students. The subjects were 236 college students in D city. The data were collected from September 3 - 8, in 2015 using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. For data analysis, a Mann-Whitney U-test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis were carried out. The results are as follows. First, the average scores of sexual attitude, sexual autonomy, and sexual harassment experience were 4.01, 1.95, and 0.95 points, respectively. Second, the individual characteristics in sexual attitude were significantly different in gender (U=2124.50, p=0.000) and department (U=5741.00, p=0.026), sexual autonomy were considerably different in gender (U=2529.50, p=0.001) and satisfaction with personal relationships ($X^2=9.46$, p=0.009), and sexual harassment experience were significantly different in the department (U=5604.00, p=0.007). Third, a positive relationship was observed between the sexual attitudes and sexual autonomy (r=0.517, p<0.01). Sexual autonomy was found to influence the sexual attitudes (${\beta}=0.46$, p<.001). These results highlight the need to develop sex education programs in various situations for college students and that sex education should be implemented constantly.

Factors Affecting Sexual Autonomy among Female Students of Colleges (여자 대학생의 성적자율성에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • This study confirmed factors affecting sexual autonomy with self-esteem and sexual awareness as variables to lay the foundation for nursing intervention that helps female college students grow into subjects who can promote safe sexual activity and sexual health. A self-administered online survey of 139 students from three Colleges was conducted from February 15 to 21, 2021. The data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression. The significant predictors of sexual autonomy were self-esteem (𝛽=0.393, p<.001), experience of dating (𝛽=0.213, p=.008) and sexual consciousness (𝛽=0.175, p=.028) and their explanatory power was 22.1%. In order for female college students to have autonomy as sexual subjects, they must be able to have a positive sense of self-esteem that values themselves and healthy sexual consciousness. Furthermore, they must be able to have a positive experience of socializing with the opposite sex. Therefore, individual efforts and social support to promote self-esteem are required, and educational mediation is needed to contribute to the promotion of sexual autonomy through efficient communication between men and women with a healthy sexual consciousness

A Comparative Study of Consistent and Inconsistent Contraceptive Users on Partner Communication, Perceived Contraceptive Control, and Sexual Autonomy (기혼여성의 지속적 피임행위와 의사소통, 피임통제감 및 성적자율성)

  • Purpose: This study is to investigate the influencing factors in the consistent use of contraception methods by comparing consistent and inconsistent users on partner communication, contraceptive control perception, and sexual autonomy among married Korean women. Method: This study consists of 243 married women living in Korea. A convenient sampling technique was used and data were collected by self report questionnaires from September 14, 2000 to October 20, 2000. Result: Only 41.6% of women were using contraception methods consistently and the rest of them were using contraception methods inconsistently. Between the two groups, statistical significances were noted in sexual communication(t=-2.5, p=.01), perceived contraceptive control(t=-7.5, p=.00) and sexual autonomy(t=-3.1, p=.00). As for general communication, it was not statistically significant(t=-1.0, p=.31). Conclusion: Family planning program advisors should recognize that intervention programs for the promotion of consistent contraceptive behavior should focus on the sexual communication, perceived contraceptive control, and sexual autonomy.

Factors Influencing Sexual Autonomy in College Students (학생의 성적 자율성에 미치는 영향요인)

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine sexual autonomy of college students. Method: Between October 2012 and November 2012, data related to self-efficacy, health knowledge, attitude to sex, and sexual autonomy orientation, were collected by questionnaire from 232 students. The data analysis was performed using PASW (SPSS) 18.0 program, and included t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple stepwise liner regression analysis. Results: The results showed a positive correlation between self-efficacy and sexual autonomy (r=.56, p<.001), sexual health knowledge (r=.50, p<.001), and attitude to sex (r=.29, p=.001). These 4 variables accounted for 48.7% of the variance in sexual autonomy among college students. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that there is a need to develop mental health nursing strategies for college students in order to provide effective counseling on sexuality and sexual health matters.

조기졸업제, 어떻게 활성화할 것인가

  • 다양성, 창의성 그리고 자율성이 강조되는 21세기에는 제도교육도 변화의 물살을 피해가기 어렵다. 조기졸업제란 성적이 우수한 학생들에게 정해진 기간보다 빨리 졸업할 수 있게 허용하는 제도이다. 교육과정 이수에 학생의 개별적 능력을 고려할 수 있으며, 학사운영에 있어 다양성과 창의성을 부여할 수 있는 등의 장점을 가진다. 그러나 실제 우리나라 조기졸업제는 많은 모순을 안고 있다. 여기에 우리나라 조기졸업제의 문제점을 짚어보고, 이를 활성화하기 위한 방안은 무엇인지 살펴보기로 하자.

Sexual Autonomy in College Students (대학생의 성적[性的] 자율성에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was to add to the understanding of sexual autonomy in college students in Korea. A descriptive survey design was used. Method: The participants in this study were 1,865 college students from 13 colleges, The questionnaire consisted of 15 items on general characteristics and 13 items measuring sexual autonomy. The SPSS 10.0 program was used for data analysis. Result: The global score for sexual autonomy was relatively high at 55.24 with a possible range of 13~65. The item on sexual autonomy with the highest score were, ‘I can prevent repeated STD infections’ and the item with the lowest sexual autonomy score was ‘I can speak clearly about having intercourse’. Factors related to sexual autonomy were identified as gender, parents’ attitude, year in university, experience with STD prevention and experience with pregnancy prevention. The score for sexual autonomy was lower in male college students (p=.000), students whose parents’ attitudes to sex were vague, first year students (p=.000), students who had little experience with prevention of STDs (p=.002), students who had little experience with prevention of pregnancy (p=.001). Conclusion: The results showed that in setting priorities for sex education the following groups of students should be given first priority, male students, students whose parents’ attitudes to sex were vague, first year students, students who have not had experience with prevention of STDs, and students who have not had experience with prevention of pregnancy.
