대학생의 성역할정체감 유형과 성 고정관념 (The Study on the Gender Role Identity & Sex Stereotypes of College Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify gender role identity and stereotypes and to explore the relationship between gender role identity and stereotype among college students. Method: The subjects consisted of 245 college students in Daegu. Each participant was administered the KGRII of Lee, Kim, Koh(2002) and Sex Stereotype scales modified by Kim, Dongil(1999). The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, $x^2-test$, Sheffe test with SPSS 11.0 PC Program. Result: 1. For male students, masculinity type(32.4%) was most prevalent but for female students, feminity type (29.3%) was most common. 2. Female students were inclined to oppose traditional sex-role rather than male students. And the over 23 years old group tended to resist traditional sex-roles rather than other aged group. 3. The Androginy typed group had more progressive sex-role compared with undifferentiated typed group. Conclusion: These results suggest that gender role identity and sex stereotype were difference in sex and age. And the androgyny typed group had more progressive sex-role compared with other gender role identity typed group.

유아의 성역할 고정관념 발달과 이야기 유형의 효과 (Sex Role Stereotypes among Children and the Effect of Traditional and Reversed Sex-typed Stories)

  • This study examined the developmental aspects of sex role stereotypes among children and the impact of stereotypic and reversed stereotypic sex role content on children's sex-stereotypic thinking. In study I, subjects were 181 Korean children ranging from nursery and kindergarten to grade 1. SERLI was used to measure children's sex role stereotypes. In study II, the subjects were 62 six-year-old kindergarten children of each sex. 4 experimental stories were developed haled on Hong(1991). A test-retest design was used to study sex role stereotypes and the impact of stereotypic and reversed-stereotypic sex role content. Statistical analysis of obtained data was by an ANOVA and two-way analysis of co-variance. Results revealed that 6-year-old children's sex role stereotypes were higher than 5-and 7-year-old children. Boys were higher than girls on children's sex role stereotypes. Children exposed to reversed sex role content changed significantly in the direction of reversed stereotyping.

전형적·비전형적 성역할 VTR 프로그램이 유아의 성역할 고정관념에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Traditional and Reversed Sex-Typed VTR Programs on Preschool Children's Sex Role Stereotypes)

  • The primary purpose of this study was to develop an educational tool that can be used in teaching young children about different types of sex roles. The secondary purpose was to observe and analyze the effects of watching different sex role video programs on preschool children's sex role stereotypes and to determine the lasting effects. The subjects of this study were 89 six year-old kindergarten children, forty five were girls and forty-four boys. Each child was interviewed individually and tested at three different points in time: 1 week before the treatment, immediately after the treatment, and 4 weeks after the treatment. Three different statistical procedures were used in analyzing the data: ANOVAs for sex differences in sex role stereotypes. ANCOVAs for the different effects of traditional sex role programs and reversed sex-typed sex role programs, and ANCOVAs and Lindquist type III ANOVAs for the lasting effects of the treatment. The findings of the study indicated that (1) the children showed sex differences in the scores of sex role stereotypes of own, opposite sex and child activity; (2) there were differences in the scores of sex role stereotypes in terms of own and opposite sex. That is, viewing the reversed sex-typed programs caused a decrease in children's sex role stereotypes; and (3) the traditional and reversed sex-typed sex role programs tested four weeks after treatment showed significant lasting effects of sex role stereotypes in terms of opposite, composite and adult activity. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the sex stereotypes of kindergarten children can be changed through sex role VTR programs.

대학생의 성별에 따른 성역할 고정관념, 성적 자기주장성, 성폭력 인식도, 성폭력 허용도 및 데이트 성폭력 경험 (A study on University Students' Gender Role Stereotype, Sexual Assertiveness, Sexual Assault Recognition, Sexual Violence Permissiveness and Sexual Violence Experience in Dating)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological variables related to sexual issues and sexual violence experiences by gender in university students. Methods: A self-report survey collected responses from 469 university students in three regions. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ${\chi}^2$-test, and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: While male students' scores on sexual assertiveness and sexual assault recognition were lower than female students', their scores on gender role stereotype and sexual violence permissiveness were higher. Female students' sexual violence victims were higher than male students', however, their scores on sexual violence perpetrations were lower than male students'. Sexual violence victims and perpetrations experiences were significantly related to sexual assault recognition and sexual violence permissiveness in male and female students. There were significant relationships between sexual violence perpetrations experiences and gender role stereotypes in male students, while there were significant relationships between sexual violence victims and inflictions experiences and sexual assertiveness in female students. Conclusion: The present study suggests that differentiated programs for preventing or arbitrating sexual violence should be developed and applied by gender because there were differences between male and female students in the level of psychological variables related to sexual issues and sexual violence experiences.

  • In this study, the gender-role stereotyping of the texts and the illustrations in the elementary science textbooks developed under the 2009 Revised National Curriculum was analyzed, and the results were compared with those of the 2007 Revised National Curriculum. In the texts, there were significant differences between boys and girls in the frequencies of texts, two types of learning activities such as scientific inquiry and emotional expression, and housekeeping activity. Women outnumbered men in housekeeping activity, but they were much less than men to perform outdoor and professional activities. In the illustrations, there were not significant differences by gender in pupils, and these results are desirable in terms of achieving balance between boys and girls. However, the textbooks were found to favor the illustrations of men especially in outdoor and professional activities. Women also performed more in housekeeping activity. Compared with the adult results of previous curriculum, these results were not improved at all.

  • In this study, the illustrations in 16 elementary science textbooks developed under the 2007 Revised National Curriculum were analyzed in the aspect of gender-role stereotyping, and the results were compared with those of the 7th National Curriculum. The frequencies of male and female who appeared on textbook illustrations were counted, and the types of activities and the characters of them were analyzed. Most pupils were found to be active, and female pupils appearing in the textbooks were more than male pupils. In all types of activities for pupils, the difference between male and female was decreased compared with that of the 7th National Curriculum. Male and female pupils were illustrated in learning activities with almost equal frequencies, but male pupils were still more frequently represented than female pupils in other activities. Gender difference in adults was increased and the difference was statistically significant. Gender difference in houseworks was not large, but the difference in outdoor activities was statistically significant. Especially, the jobs of adults were illustrated as male-centered, and scientists appearing in the textbook illustrations were also mostly male.

TV 광고의 어린이·청소년 재현 문제와 대안적 사유 (Problematic Representations of Children and Teens in TV Commercials and Alternative Thinking)

  • 본 연구는 TV 광고의 어린이 및 청소년의 재현 양식의 문제점을 파악하기 위해 어린이·청소년 등장 광고를 대상으로 양적 분석(2019년 5월~2020년 4월), 질적 분석(13편 사례)을 실시했다. 구체적인 사례에 대한 질적 분석 결과, 여아의 '성적 대상화' 및 여성 청소년의 '성적 스펙터클'로서의 재현, 여성성/남성성의 고정관념을 강화시키는 재현, 여아의 기부를 목적으로 한 동정의 대상화 등의 재현 유형으로 분석되었다. 이는 기존 광고에서의 고정된 성역할 재현을 그대로 답습하고 있음을 알 수 있으며 이러한 성의 이분법적 재현은 각종 성범죄, 성불평등의 시작점이라고 할 수 있다. 'N번방' 성착취 사건의 피해자 대부분은 여성 청소년이고 이들은 이분법적인 사고로 남성들의 성적 대상으로 여겨지고 있기 때문이다. TV 광고는 고질적인 여성성, 남성성의 이분법적 재현의 일부분이다. 이러한 재현을 문제시하고 들뢰즈와 가타리의 논의를 중심으로 대안적 사유를 제시한다.

직장 기혼 여성의 일-가정 갈등이 우울에 미치는 영향 (The effect of work-family conflict on depression in married working women.)

  • 이 연구는 우리나라 직장 기혼 여성의 일-가정 갈등 요소가 정신건강의 대표적 지표인 우울에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 갈등 요인들을 개인단위, 조직단위에서 파악하여 어떤 요소들을 중심으로 접근해야 할지 고찰하였다. 여성가족패널조사 5차 년도 자료 중 현재 남편과 동거 중인 기혼 유배우 여성이며 임금근로자인 1,299명을 대상으로 분석하였다. 위계적 회귀분석을 통해 모형검증을 실시하였고, 일-가정 갈등 특성이 포함된 4번째 위계 모형에서 설명력은 12.5%(p<0.001)로 일반적 특성들을 통제한 상태에서 직장 기혼 여성의 일-가정 갈등은 우울에 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 가정에서 일에 대한 갈등(${\beta}=.150$, p<0.01)이 우울에 가장 높은 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 직장 기혼 여성은 성역할 고정관념에서 자유롭지 못하여 가정 내 역할 갈등이 심화되면 이러한 문제가 직장 내 업무수행의 어려움으로 이어지게 된다. 이는 직장 여성의 정신건강에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라 장기적으로 가정의 건강과 국가 생산력의 손실을 불러일으키는 원인이 되므로 이들의 일-가정 갈등을 덜어줄만한 적절한 사회 정책적 대처가 필요하다.

대학생과 고등학생의 성역할 정체감과 성 고정관념에 대한 비교조사 (Sex-Role Identity & Stereotypes of Students in High School and College)

  • The purposes of this study are to identify sex-role Identity and stereotypes in students-specifically, to compare men with women, and high school students with college students The subjects consisted of 283 college students and 392 high school students in Seoul A Bem's Sex-Role Inventory translated by Hur, Sookja for sex-role identity stereotype scales and modified by Kim, Dongil was used The major findings were as follows 1 Androgyny type was the most prevalent of all four types (35 3%) in college male students, but undifferentiated type was the most common (36 8%) for college female students 2 The sex-role identity distribution of high school male and female students was undifferentiated, androgyny, feminity, and masculinity in that order 3 There was a significant difference between male and female students in the perception sex stereotypes Women were inclined to oppose traditional sex-roles rather than men 4 There were significant differences between high school and college students in the perception of domestic sex-roles, appearance and occupational characteristics, as well as the psychosocial traits of sex stereotypes The college students tended to resist traditional sex-roles rather than high school students 5 There were no significant differences between sex-role types and sex stereotypes In conclusion, women have difficulty in developing a sex-role identity owing to the contradiction between a woman's desirable sex-role and her feminity sex-role identity.

신문보도사진에 나타난 남녀 경제리더의 이미지 분석 (Images of Female and Male Business Leaders in Newspaper Photographs)

  • 현대사회에서 뉴스는 신화와 같은 역할을 한다고 한다. 신화는 사람들이 세상을 이해하고 체험하는 의미의 틀을 제공하는데, 그 신화를 구성하는 데 미디어 뉴스가 큰 역할을 하기 때문이다. 그런 의미에서 본 연구는 남녀 고위직 경제인들이 신문보도 사진에 어떻게 재현되는지를 내용분석의 양적인 방법과 기호학적인 질적방법을 통해 분석하고자 하였다. 1990년 1월 1일부터 2011년 12월 31일까지 지난 20년간 조선일보에 실린 기획 인터뷰 및 인물중심 기사 가운데 여성 경제리더 사진 전수와 무작위로 뽑은 동일 수의 남성 경제리더 사진을 분석하였다. 분석결과 남성은 대체로 업무현장과 밀접한 배경에서 역동적이고 진지하게 묘사되었고, 인물의 이미지를 강하게 표현하는 바스트샷이 대부분을 구성하였다. 반면 여성들은 업무와 분리된 장식적인 배경 속에서 인위적인 포즈를 취하고 있는 전신사진을 통해 수동적인 객체로 재현되는 남성주의적 시각이 발견되었다.
