Construction Cost-Schedule Integration Management Methodolgy by using Progress Integration Unit (성과측정유닛을 활용한 건설 비용 - 일정 통합관리 방안)

  • Measuring and evaluating project progress and performance are the key element of the construction project success. Construction progress is typically measured quantitatively by evaluating cost and time allocated to the project deliverable, and thus properly integrating cost and time is essential to the project management. This research was performed to propose an alternative methodology to integrate the cost and time and provide a framework for the progress measurement. The researchers developed a typical work process for the cost and schedule planning and also developed an alternative cost-schedule integration method by using progress integration units (PIU). A discipline of a construction phase served as a common level for WBS and CBS integration, so the PIUs'were defined under discipline. A case study project was selected to validate the developed methodology. The result showed the proposed method improved efficiency of cost and time integration. The result also showed the excluding material for the progress measurement purpose significantly reduced the bias of progress measurement.

Guest Movement Detection and Analysis System for Integrated Event Venue Operation Management (통합적 행사장 운영을 위한 관람객 동선감지 분석 시스템)

  • The operation method of offline venues such as local festivals usually has problems such as the absence of real-time events and booth information, wasting time in the process of purchasing and receiving goods, and stagnating the movement of guests. This study increases the convenience of guests and managers by integrating all contents in the venue in the form of booth, thereby increasing the uniformity of event information and the efficiency of booth operation. In addition, a system was designed to minimize movement problems and improve performance by detecting the movement of guests within the venue and increasing the efficiency of arranging booths based on location data. It has been developed as a low-cost system that measures wireless packets with portable wireless LAN APs and control units. This has advantages in the operation of the venue, which consists of the installation and dismantling of variable booths in a short period of time. It is expected that the integrated operation of the venue will be utilized by linking the movement data of guests to activate visits and increase sales through data-based promotions.

Effect of quaternary ammonium compounds on microbial contamination levels in dental clinics (치과 진료실의 미생물 오염도에 대한 4차 암모늄 화합물의 효과)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the change of microbial contamination levels in the different areas and at the different time points after application of a quaternary ammonium compound (QAC) that has mechanical antimicrobial effect. The microbial contamination levels were measured in three different areas; unit chair handle, spit sink area and hand piece holder at different time points using adenosine triphosphate (ATP) monitoring system and ATP surface test kit. Hand piece holder showed the highest level of microbial contamination. In most of the clinics, QAC significantly reduced the levels of microbial contamination, and maintained antimicrobial activity for 4 to 6 months. QAC may be used effectively in dental clinics due to the duration of antimicrobial effect and the minimal exposure of chemicals and further studies are needed with large sample size.

Effects of Dietary Germanium on the Performance, Egg Quality and Blood Composition for the Finishing Stage of Laying Hens (산란말기에 게르마늄의 첨가 급여가 산란계의 생산성과 계란품질 및 혈액성상에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to assess the effect of dietary addition of Germanium (Ge) on performance, egg quality, serum biochemical properties and yolk fatty acid composition in laying hens. At 74 weeks of age, a total of 360 Hy-line brown commercial layers were divided into four treatments with five replicates per treatment. Four dietary levels of Ge (0, 1, 2 and 4%) were added to the basal diets (ME: 2,750 kcal/kg, CP: 16%) and fed corresponding diet for a period of 12 weeks. The effects of these treatments on production performance and egg quality were measured three times at four week intervals, and at the end of the experiment, blood and egg yolk fatty acid were analyzed. The results showed that production performance parameters including egg production rate, feed intake, egg weight, egg mass and feed conversion ratio were non-significant, but dietary addition of 2% Ge tended to increase egg production rate. Eggshell strength was found to be significantly higher in Ge supplemented groups than in the control group (P<0.05), and eggshell thickness was also trended to be improved in Ge treated groups. In serum, triglyceride content was significantly greater (P<0.05), and the highest total cholesterol was found in hens of the control group as compared with that of the Ge supplemented groups. The yolk fatty acid composition including polyunsaturated fatty acid, unsaturated fatty acid and saturated fatty acid were not affected among the treatments but addition of 2 or 4% Ge in basal diet had significantly (P<0.05) increased monounsaturated fatty acid. Therefore, supplementation of Ge in laying hens diet has positive effects on egg quality and triglyceride in serum.
