Isoflavone-Rich Bean Sprouts Improves Hyperlipidemia (고이소플라본 콩나물의 고지혈증 개선효과)

  • The present study examined the physiological effects of isoflavone-rich bean sprout on the lipid metabolism of hyperlipidemic rats. Experimental hyperlipidemia was induced by the AIN standard diet with 0.5% cholesterol,9.3% lard and 0.2% sodium cholate in SD rats. Experimental groups consisted of normal control, hyperlipidemic control, 1% or 5% bean sprout powder-supplemented groups, and 0.2% soybean isoflauone extract-supplemented group. Four weeks feeding of isoflavone-rich bean sprout powder or isoflavone extract resulted in a significant lowering of plasma cholesterol and lowering tendency of triglyceride levels. The levels of lipid peroxidation products in the kidney and heart tissues were also lowered by the supplementation of bean sprout powder or isoflavone extract. The activities of hepatic glutathione peroxidase and catalase were increased by the supplementation of bean sprout powder or soybean isoflavone extract. Plasma concentration of vitamin A was significantly raised in the group fed 0.5% bean sprout powder. The results of the study showed that the beneficial effects of isoflavone-rich bean sprout on lipid metabolism of hyperlipidemic animals were comparable with those of soybean isoflavone extract. The positive effect of bean sprout in improving lipid metabolism might be due to the combined action of isoflavone and dietary fiber.

STUDIES ON THE CYSTINE COMPONENT IN THE SERICULTURAL PROTEINS OF BOMBYX MORI L. (가잠사단백질의 각과정에서의 Cystine 성분에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this treatise is to prove the presence of cystine in silk fiber through wide sampling throughout all the sericultural processes of Bombyx mori.; also to show that disulfide cross linkages exist in the silk fiber. The conclusions reached were as follows: 1. Crystalline cystine was obtained from silk fibroin using Folin's Method. 2. Analytical data showing the cystine content of silk fiber and its related materials were obtained using Sullvan's Method as follows: Material Percent Cystine A. Mulberry leaf protein 0.175 B. Silkworm egg 0.33 C. Silkworm Body, matured, fat extracted, without silk gland 0.41 D. Silk gland, matured 1.23 E. Silkworm feces none F. Silkworm pupa, fat extracted 0.30 G. Silkworm moth, fat extracted 0.60 H. Raw Silk 0.22 I. Fibroin 0.175 J. Sericin 0.30 3. The presence of cystine in the silkworm was substantiated the existence of 0.175 % methionine in mulberry leaves and 0.12% methionine in the silk gland. 4. Part of the sulfhydryl compounds in the silk gland is believed to transfer to serine and methionine, with the former being secreted into the liquid silk finally as silk fiber and the latter used for nutritive purposes in the growing of silk gland tissue. 5. The cystine content is variable by mulberry species, silkworm species, sex, breeding process, and other culturing environments. 6. Hybrid silkworms require more nutritive amino acids for effective growth than the original parents, and secrete less of them as silk fiber. 7. From such an observation, the amino acid composition of silk fiber is believed to be fairly flexible. Cystine if included in the amorphous part of the fiber, especially in sericin. 8. The result from enriching the silkworm diet with pure cystine or wool cystine did not result in any advantage, therefore it is believed that the natural cystine and methionine contents in the mulberry leafaregoodenoughforsilkwormnutrition. 9. The disulfide cross linkage in silk fiber was verified by using the Harris Method. Contraction took place following the treatment of the fiber with various salts and acids. Comparisons were made with wool fiber. 10. During these experiments, the fibrious structure of silk fiber and the net-globular liquid form were photographed microscopically. It is believed that the globules of liquid silk are net-formed by the inter attraction of the OH ion of the globular peptide and the H ion of water as shown by the hair cracking behavior of the film. The net-globular protein precipitation from the mulberry protein solution showed that mulberry is a proper diet for the formation of fibrous protein in the silk fiber. 11. The significance of the presence of cystine in silk fiber as emphasized in this paper should result in modification of the general conception that cystine is absent from this fiber. Evaluation and Analysis of Composition of Shredder Residue from End-of-life Vehicle (폐자동차 차피파쇄잔류물의 組咸에 대한 分析評價硏究)

  • A research was performed to evaluate a use of shredder residue to currently dispose of at landfills. Laboratory analyses were conducted to determine especially the fuel characteristics of shredder residue. For this aim, shredder residue was classified by the particle size as well as by the type of material and the content of Cl, S, ash, and calorific value were determined. Due to the chlorinated plastic content of shredder residue, mean concentration of Cl was found to exceed 4wt% except one sample while that of S was ranged from 0.25 to 0.39 wt%. As far as calorific value was concemed, plastic was observed to be more than 10,000 kcal/kg while wood/paper and fiber accounted for approximately 4,000 kcal/kg. Shredder residue was found to contain varying trace amounts of metal elements, including Fe of 6∼8.5 wt%. Hg and Cr(VI) were not detected, however, while Cd was contained as small as 0.0004-0.0009 wt%.

Functional component analysis and physical property of Cheonnyuncho (Opuntia humifusa) powder (천년초 분말의 기능성분 분석과 물리적 특성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to perform a functional components analysis and investigate the physical properties of powders made from the stems or fruit of freeze-dried Cheonnyuncho cactus (Opuntia humifusa). The functional components analysis showed that the stem and fruit powders han vitamin C levels of 42.14 mg and 105.21 mg, respectively. The stems powder contained more lutein than the fruit powder. The fruit powder contained more vitamin C than the stem powder. The SDF (soluble dietary fiber) and IDF (insoluble dietary fiber) in the stem powder were 45.24% and 22.15%, respectively, which were higher then the values for the fruit powder. The stem and fruit powders contained 19.30 mg/g and 25.10 mg/g of crude saponin, respectively. The pH of the stem and fruit powders was 5.34 and 5.07, respectively, both indicating low acidity. The L, a and b values of the stem powder color were 78.28, -3.71, and 19.19, respectively. The L, a and b values of the fruit powder color were 55.56, 24.84, and -3.18, respectively. The stems powder had a higher bulk density, water holding capacity, and swelling power than those of the fruit powder, but water-retaining capacity of the stem powder was lower than that of the fruit powder. In addition, the stems powder had a higher viscous material content and water uptake compared to the fruit powder. Based on the above results, we determined that Cheonnyuncho (Opuntia humifusa) powder had potentially useful functional components and physical properties.

Mineralogical Characterization of the Chuncheon Nephrite: Mineral Facies, Mineral Chemistry and Pyribole Structure (춘천 연옥 광물의 광물학적 특성 : 광물상, 광물 화학 및 혼성 격자 구조)

  • Chuncheon nephrite, which was formed by the polymetasomatic alteration of dolomitic marble, can be classified into pale green, green, dark green, and grey types on the basis of their occurrence, mineralogical and textural characteristics. The nephrites consist obiefly of fibrous or hairlike(length/width ratio>10) cryptocrystalline(crystal width < $2{\mu}m$) tremolite, and include less amounts of micro-crystalline diopside, calcite, clinochlore, and sphene as impurities. The oriented and rather curved crystal aggregate, of nephritic tremolite are densely interwoven, resulting in a massive-fibrous texture which may explain the characteristic toughness of nephritic jade. The characteristic greenish color of the nephrite may be preferably related to Fe rather than Cr and Ni. However, the variation of color and tint in the Chuncheon nephrite also depends on the mineralogical and textural differences such as crystallinity, texture, and impurities. The chemical composition of the nephritic tremolite is not stoichiometric and rather dispersed especially in the abundances of Al, Mg, and Ca. Al content and Mg/Ca ratio for the nephritic tremolite are slightly increased with deepening in greenish color of the nephrite. Fe content in the nephritic tremolite is generally very low, but comparatively richer in the dark green nephrite. In nephritic tremolite, wide-chain pyriboles are irregularly intervened between normal double chains, forming a chain-width disorder. Most nephritic tremolites in the Chuncheon nephrite show various type of chain-width defects such as triple chain(jimthompsonite), quintuple chain (chesterite), or sometimes quadruple chain in HRTEM observations. The degree of chain-width disorder in the nephritic tremolite tends to increase with deepening in greenish color. Triple chain is the most common type, and quadruple chain is rarely observed only in the grey nephrite. The presence of pyribole structure in the nephritic tremolite is closely related to the increase of Al content and Mg/Ca ratio, a rather dispersive chemical composition, a decrease of relative intensity in (001) XRD reflection, and an increase in b axis dimension of unit cell. In addition, the degree and variation of chain-width disorder with nephrite types may support that an increase of metastability was formed by a rapid diffusion of Mg-rich fluid during the nephrite formation.

새로운 식품소재로서의 의곡류 amarans, quinoa의 제빵 특성에 관하여

  • 개발도상국의 급격한 인구 증가에 의해 세계 60억 이라는 인구도 2050년을 맞아 약 100억에 도달할 것이라고 일컬어진다. 이로 인한 장래의 식량 위기에 대비하여 벼, 밀, 옥수수 등의 증산, 품종 개발도 물론 필요하지만 선진국을 중심으로 시장성 높은 작물의 소비가 우선되어지는 상황에 맞추어 세계적으로 주식이 될 수 있는 새로운 곡류의 확보와 생산체제도 중요한 문제이다. 한편으로 생활의 향상에 따른 식물의 다양화와 건강지향의 관점으로 본 다 품목 소량형의 식생활을 하는 것이 식물성 allergy의 방지 측면으로서의 곡류 특히 잡곡류의 유효 이용이 부각되어진다. 이들 중 amarans, quinoa는 벼과 식물에 비교해서 광합성능이 좋은 C4식물로서 생장이 빠르고 동시에 비타민, 무기질, 지질이 풍부하고 구성 단백질 중에 필수 아미노산을 많이 함유하여 아미노산 등급도 높고 특히 영양 발란스도 우수하다. 또 cholesterol 저하작용, 식물섬유에 의한 대장암의 억제 작용 등이 잘 알려져 있다. 그리l고 quinoa에 대해서는 아메리카 항공우주국(NASA)에서 CELSS(Controlled Ecological Life Support System; 장기간 우주특무비행의 승선원을 위한 공기중의 이산화탄소를 제거하고 식량·산소·물을 만들어 내기 위해 식물을 이용하는 방법)에 적합한 작물 후보로써 선택되어 신규 식품소재로써 주목받고 있다. 이상과 같은 견지로부터 amarans, quinoa를 일상식화되고 있는 빵에 이용하기 위해 제빵성 및 혼합중의 반죽의 모든 성질에 대해서 검토했다. amarans는 초과의 Amaranthus에 속하고 주요 생산국은 아메리카, 멕시코, 페루등이지만 일본에서는 주로 A.hypochondriacus가 수입되어 이용 되어지고 있다.amarans의 가루는 단독으로는 점탄성 있는 반죽을 형성하지 않기 때문에 밀가루에 일부를 대용한 wheat flour dough를 사용하고 가정용 제빵기로 구워 최종 단계에까지의 제빵성 결과를 산출했다. amarans folur 5%의 대체에는 빵의 비용적이 비교적 증대했지만 그 이상 amarans flour을 대처하면 확연히 비용적은 감소했다. amarans flour 10% 대체에 hemicellulase 1250U 이상을 첨가하면 비용적은 눈에 띄게 증대했다. farinograph에 있어서 반죽의 안정성은 amarans flour 10% 대용에 현저히 감소했다. 반죽의 점탄성(아축응력, 탄성률, 점성계수)는 amarans flour 10%를 대용한 것이 무첨가한 것보다 많이 단단해졌음을 알 수 있었다. 혼합중의 반죽의 조사형 전자현미경 관찰로 amarans flour로 대체한 gluten이 단단해졌음을 알수 있었다. 유화제 stearly 칼슘, 혹은 hemicellulase를 amarans 10% 대체한 밀가루에 첨가하면 확연히 비용적을 증대시킬 수 있다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. quinoa는 명아주과 Chenopodium에 속하고 페루, 볼리비아 등의 고산지에서 재배 되어지는 것을 시료로 사용하였다. quinoa 분말은 중량의 5-20%을 quinoa를 대체하고 더욱이 분말중량에 대하여 0-200ppm의 lipase를 lipid(밀가루의 2-3배)에 대하여 품질개량제로서 이용했다. 그 결과 quinoa 대량 7.5%에서 비용적, gas cell이 가장 긍정적 결과를 산출했고 반죽의 조직구조가 강화되었다. 또 quinoa 대체에 의해 전분-지질 복합제의 흡열량이 증대된 것으로부터 전분-지질복합제의 형성 촉진이 시사되었다.이것으로 인하여 호화억제에 의한 노화 방지효과가 기대되었지만 실제로 빵의 노화는 현저히 진행되었다. 이것은 quinua 대체량 증가에 따른 반죽의 안정성이 저하되어 버린 것으로 생각되어진다. 더욱이 lipase를 첨가하면 반죽이 분화하는 경향이 보여졌지만 첨가량 75ppm에 있어서 상당히 비용적의 증대가 보였다. 이것은 lipase의 가수분해에 의해 생긴 monogliceride에 의한 유화각 일어나서 보존성이 개선되어진 것으로 quinoa를 보다 많이 빨에 이용하기 위해서는 lipaserk 품질개량제로서 유효하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또 lipase는 quinoa의 대체량이 비교적 많은 10-20%의 섭취가 곧 allergy 질환 문제의 개선책이 되는 것은 물론 amarans, quinoa에는 lysine, 함황아미노산이 많고 지질중의 지방산조성도 좋고 무기질도 많이 함유되어 있다. 이와같이 우리들 개인의 건강에 대한 배려도 있고 amarans, quinoa등의 식품재료를 적극적으로 사용할 수 있도록 유념해 두었으면 하는 바램이다.

  • 오늘날 열대림 면적의 급격한 감소, 지구온난화등 지구환경 보전의 관점에서 이들 목재이외의 자원의 활용 및 양마와 같은 새로운 비목재자원 개발의 중요성이 재인식되기에 이르렀으며, 이 가운데서 양마는 생장이 라르고 수확량이 크며, 목질부의 단섬유는 물론 긴 섬유장을 가진 인피부섬유로 구성되어 있고, 실리카함량도 매우 적어, 특히 산림자원이 부족한 개발도상국에서 펄프.제지용 자원으로서 주목되고 있다. 양마가펄프.제지용자원으로서 오늘날과 같은 세계적 주목을 받게 된 것은 미국 농무성 북부지역연구센타 에서 이루어진 “새로운 섬유작물”에 관한 기초연구에서 양마가 제지용 섬유작물로서 높이 평가되고 있다. 양마의 경우 인피부는 비교적 리그닌함량이 적고, 목질부는 활엽수재에 가까운 리그닌을 함유하고 있는데다, 섬유형태에 있어서도 인피부와 목질부간에 큰 차이가 발견된다. 본 연구에서는 양마를 중성아황산법으로 전처리하여 제조한 반화학펄프로 부터 제조한 종이의 광학적 성질을 검토하였다 펄프의 광학적 성질은 원료의 화학적 조성,섬유의 형태, 부위.화학적 처리정도, 원료의 저장기간 및 충전제의 첨가에 따라 크게 영향을 받았다. 장섬유와 낮은 리그닌함량을 가진 전간부 펄프시트는 불투명도가 낮았으며, 목질부 펄프로부터 상대적으로 밀도가 다소 높고, 불투명도도 높은 종이를 만들 수 있었다. 펄프원료의 저장기간이 백색도를 낮추었으며, 불투명도에는 그다지 영향하지 않았다. 약품전처리 및 표백이 백색도 및 불투명도에 크게 영향하였고, 특히 충전제 첨가로 광산란을 증가시켜 불투명도가 높은 종이를 제조할 수 있었다.6. CL종의 난황콜레스테롤 수준에 대한 계란의 일령 상호간에는 전체적으로 상호간에 차이가 없었다. 7. 26주령시 혈중콜레스테롤 수준은 CL종이 다른 두 육계종들 보다 유의적 (P$\leq$0.05)으로 높았다. 8. 성별간 혈중콜레스테롤 수준의 차이는 CL종, BR1 및 BR2 중에서 CL종에서만 나타났으며, 수컷은 암킷보다 혈액 100 mL당 약 90 mg이 낮았다.구체적인 생화학적인 연구가 이루어져야 될 것으로 여겨진다.야 할 것으로 사료된다. 냉장 저장을 하고 저장기간이 길어질 경우는 냉동저장을 사용하는 것이 바람직하다고 생각된다.S, FOS나 말티톨로 대체된 스폰지 케익은 설탕 100% 사용한 케익과 비교하여 크게 나쁘지 않거나 휠씬 나은 특성을 보이므로 스폰지 케익 제조에 그들의 이용이 가능함을 확인하였다.thione 같은 다른 항산화제의 절약 효과, CYP2El의 유도 저하를 통하는 것으로 생각되며 그중 어떤 것에 가장 큰 영향을 받는 지는 아직 알려지지 않았고 더욱 많은 연구가 요구된다.우와 사료에 $\omega$3계 지방산 급원을 첨가, 동물에게 이행시켜 $\omega$3계 지방산 강화식품을 제조하는 두 가지 방법이 있을 수 있는데 전자는 통조림, 과자, 건강보조식품류에 다용되며 후자는 다양한 기능성 축산식품에 활용되고 있다. $\omega$3계 지방산 강화 축산식품에는 돼지고기, 우유, 치이즈, 계란, 분유, 햄 등 다양한 제품에 활용, 개발되고 있으며 최근에는 이러한 식품 개발에 더욱 박차가

Developing An Extracting Method of Laminated Glass-Fiber for Waste FRP Boats Regenerating (폐FRP 선박의 재자원화를 위한 유리면포 추출장치 개발)

  • There are several basic classes of recycling methods for FRP boats. The main one is 'Mechanical recycling' which involves shredding and grinding of the scrap FRP in a new product. That is one of the simpler and more technically proven methods. It recently has been reported that FRP can be recycled by separating into layers instead of crushing into powder. Many researchers should be more interested in these mechanical recycling for the eligibility. Nevertheless, because resins is very useful renewable energy, most of waste FRP regenerating methods depend on incineration (reclamation) or thermal recycling (pyrolysis). FRP is made up of laminated glass- fiber (roving cloth layer) which is also very unlikely to break into each layer. If there is an extracting method which is efficient and environment friendly removing glass fiber from waste FRP, it should also solve the another urgent problem. Laminated glass-fiber which is very limited renewable, is a serious barrier to wast FRP boat regenerating. This study is to propose a new extracting method which is efficient and environment friendly waste FRP regenerating system. And it should be applied to renewable energy applications with the waste resins of FRP. Also recycling glass fiber obtained by the separation of the roving layer from waste FRP will be consider to be useful for concrete products or structures.

Inhibitory Effects of Dunaliella salina Extracts on Thermally-Induced Skin Aging (두날리엘라 살리나 추출물의 피부 열노화 억제 효과)

  • Just like UV radiation, heat increases collagen degradation and accumulation of abnormal elastin fiber and this is termed thermal skin aging. Dunaliella salina (DS), a green alga, is known for its beta-carotene accumulation, having various applications in the health and nutritional products. However, the effects of DS on heat-induced skin aging remain unexplored. In this study, we performed anti-thermal aging tests of the ethanol extract of DS (DSE). We measured the cellular levels of type I procollagen and MMP-1 using ELISA in human dermal fibroblast cells after heat shock. DSE reduced the expression of MMP-1 protein and increased the expression of type I procollagen. In addition, DSE upregulated the mRNA expression of HSP47 reduced by heat shock, which is involved in collagen synthesis. Also, DSE reduced the expression of inflammation mediator (TGF-${\beta}$, IL-12, etc). We demonstrate that DSE regulates the heat-induced solar elastosis through the regulation of tropoelastin and fibrillin-1, two major proteins of elastic fibers, and MMP-12 expression. These results suggest that DSE may be effective for preventing thermally induced skin aging.

Effect of $Panax$ $ginseng$ C.A. Meyer Extract (Ginseol K-b1) on UVB-induced Skin Damage in Hairless Mice (Hairless Mice에서 UVB로 유도된 피부손상에 인삼추출물(Ginseol K-b1)이 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate the effect of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer extract (Ginseol K-b1), on skin functionality, we evaluated skin appearance and properties, such as wrinkle formation, skin moisture content, and skin elasticity in the skin of hairless mice damaged by UV irradiation. In addition, the effect of Ginseol K-b1 on collagen synthesis in human dermal fibroblasts was investigated. Female hairless mice were orally administered Ginseol K-b1 for 10 weeks with UV irradiation. Wrinkle formation in the Ginseol K-b1-treated group was significantly suppressed compared to the UV-irradiated group. Skin properties, including skin moisture content and elasticity, of the Ginseol K-b1-treated group were better than those of the control group. In the human fibroblast cells, Ginseol K-b1 treatment enhanced cell proliferation and significantly stimulated collagen synthesis. These results suggest that Ginseol K-b1 is a potent ingredient with anti-aging effects.
