  • In this study, a scintillation resin for 3D printing was fabricated with 1.0 wt% of PPO organic scintillator, 5.0 wt% of MMA, and commercial acrylic resin. Using the scintillation resin, 3D-shaped plastic scintillator radiation sensors were successfully fabricated quickly and inexpensively with a commercial 3D DLP printer. The 3D printed plastic scintillator has a good dose-output linearity of R-square 0.998 was obtained in the range of 1 to 10 nA of beam current of the 45 MeV proton beam. The developed 3D plastic scintillator has low light output, so there is a limit to its use in low-dose-rate gamma-ray or X-ray dosimetry. However, it was confirmed that the tissue equivalent material could be usefully used for measuring high energy or high dose rates radiation, such as proton beams and ultra-high dose rate beams.

  • CsI(T1) single crystal was grown in a Bridgman growing apparatus, which has the diameter of 11 mm and the mole ratio of 0.001 mol%. Radiation sensors were made with CsITl)crystal and two photodiodes, and measured spectroscopic characteristics and linearity for gamma-ray and X-ray. The energy resolution of CsI(T1) radiation sensor has been measured with $^{22}$ Na, $^{137}$ Cs and $^{60}$ Co gamma standard sources. Also output linearity of CsITl) sensor was measured for diagnostic radiation region. The energy resolutions of CsI(T1) radiation sensor for 0.511MeV gamma-ray from Na-22 source, 0.662MeV from Cs-137 source, and 1.17MeV and 1.332MeV from Co-60 source were 13.2%, 8.3%, 6.7%, and 5.1% respectively. Also the output linearity up to 80mAs current for 60kVp, 80kvp, 100kVp, 120kVp tube voltages has been studied.

  • We grew the $Li_6Gd(BO_3)_3:Ce^{3+}$ scintillator and determined the scintillation and thermoluminescence properties for X-rays. The emission spectrum of $Li_6Gd(BO_3)_3:Ce^{3+}$ is located in the range of 370~500 nm, peaking at 423 nm an 455 nm, due to the $4f{\rightarrow}5d$ transition of $Ce^{3+}$ ions. The fluorescence decay time of the crystal is composed three components. The fast component is 60 ns (25%), the intermediate component is 787 ns (29%) and the slow component is $5.9{\mu}s$ (46%) of the crystal. The after-glow is caused by the electron and hole traps in the crystal lattice. We determined physical parameters of the traps in the crystal. The thermoluminescence trap are composed two traps. The determined activation energy (E), kinetic order (m) and frequency factor (s) of the first trap are 0.65 eV, 1.01 and $6.9{\times}10^8s^{-1}$. And, the determined activation energy, kinetic order and frequency factor of the second trap are 0.96 eV, 1.79 and $3.1{\times}10^{12 }s^{-1}$, respectively.

  • The most important factor for the penetration performance of shaped charge is the liner design. By designing the liner to have properties of both high jet tip velocity and long jet break-up time, the better penetration performance could be acquired. Usually it is very difficult to satisfy above two conditions simultaneously. In this study, the liner with the shape of ogive was developed to have relatively larger jet mass compared to the conventional trumpet liner. The designed shaped charge showed jet properties with high jet tip velocity and long jet break-up time by using ogive liner and wave shaper. A commercially available hydro-dynamic code AUTODYN-2D was used for numerical analysis of jet formation. The flash X-ray test and the static penetration test were conducted to verify the results of numerical analysis.

  • Monte Carlo simulation was performed to investigate optimal system of proton computed tomography and to avoid the errors by using data from X ray computed tomography in proton therapy. The informations from two DSSDs to measure position and LYSO scintillation detector to measure the residual energy of proton particle in GEANT4 were used for reconstruction computed tomography.

  • In this paper, the effect of high voltage current pulse against shaped charge jet was analyzed through the visualization of jet behavior using flash X-ray and comparison of depth of penetration(DOP) into RHA(Rolled Homogeneous Armor) witness plates. The behavior of jet particles has been acquired using a flash X-ray equipment when current pulse was applied into the metal jet of a shaped charge(SC) warhead. Typical results such as jet breakup and radial jet dispersion, which are due to electromagnetic pressure by current pulse, have been obtained. Dozens of penetration experiments using a shaped charge with 55 mm diameter were performed according to various combinations of major parametric variables such as electrode spacing, standoff distance from SC warhead to electrode, and charge voltage. Subsequently, interrelations between major parametric variables and DOPs into RHA were analyzed.

  • In this paper, we developed optical dosimetry system with a plastic scintillator, a commercial 50 mm, f1.8 lens, and a commercial high-sensitivity CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) camera. And, the correction processors of vignetting, geometrical distortion and scaling were established. Using the developed system, we can measured a percent depth dose, a beam profile and a dose linearity for 6 MV medical LINAC (Linear Accelerator). As results, the optically measured percent depth dose was well matched with the measured percent depth dose by ion-chamber within 2% tolerance. And the determined flatness was 2.8%. We concluded that the optical dosimetry system was sufficient for application of absorbed dose monitoring during radiation therapy.

  • In this study, the behavior of a shaped charge projectile's metal jet was analyzed using flash radiography. The projectile was installed horizontally to observe the behavior of jet for enough time. While the X-ray tube heads are fixed at one point, the behavior range of the jet is wide in this experimental set up, therefore the angle between the X-ray tube heads and the jet tip is changed continuously as jet moves forward. Jet particle's locations calculated from the X-ray films become different from their real positions under this situation because of the film to object distance(FTOD) and correction for error by FTOD is required. In this study, a method was devised to correct the error by FTOD and this was applied for the investigation of jet behavior of a 70 mm caliber's shaped charge.
