Deformability of Flat Plate Subjected to Unbalanced Moment (불균형 휨모멘트를 받는 플랫 플레이트의 변형능력)

  • Flat plate structures subjected to lateral load have less deformability than conventional moment frames, due to the brittle failure of plate-column connection. In the present study, parametric study using nonlinear finite element analysis was performed to investigate the deformability of flat plates. The numerical results show that as number of continuous spans increases, the deformability of flat plates considerably decreases. Therefore, existing experiments using sub-assemblages with 1 or 2 spans may overestimate the deformability of flat plates, and current design provisions based on the experiments may not be accurate in estimating the deformability. A design method estimating the deformability was developed on the basis of numerical results, and verified by comparison with existing experiment. In the proposed method, the effects of primary design parameters such as direct shear force, punching shear capacity, aspect ratio of connection, number of spans, and initial stiffness of plate can be considered.

  • IPv4 NAT, which often used in households or under SOHO environments, is one of the factors that delays IPv6 propagation. As IPv4 NAT does not operate properly under the transition mechanism like ISATAP or 6to4 that acts as IPv6-in-IPv4 tunneling type, Microsoft proposed Teredo in order to resolve this issue. However, tunneling transition mechanism like Teredo has a security problem. That is, being tunneled packets have dual IP headers; general firewall systems apply the filtering rules only to the outer header but not inner header when these packets pass the firewall. Furthermore, attacks using unregistered server and relay can take place in Teredo. To resolve these problems, we propose a new packet filtering mechanism exclusively for Teredo. The proposed packet filtering mechanism was designed and implemented by using Linux Netfilter and ip6tables. Through functional and experimental performance tests, this packet filtering system was found operating properly and solving the Teredo packet filtering problems without serious performance degradation.

  • Currently, the itemized box loading operation at the Agriculture Products Processing Center which distributes agricultural products for the region is carried out manually. The process of loading agricultural products requires great manpower and had been resolved through the part-time employment of the residents of farm villages. However, recently it has become quite difficult to secure manpower as the aging within the rural community has been intensified. Hence, the necessity for countermeasures such as facility automation or use of robots have become necessary. This study suggests an automatic robot system for the itemized loading of apple boxes at the Agriculture Products Processing Center. The suggested method is to design and develop equipment such as a conveyer, robot, and bar code reader. In addition, a sorting plan, operational control, generation of control information, and software module that could monitor the inside of the Agriculture Products Processing Center is needed. After test-operating and evaluating the developed system, the existing manual work would be replaced with the automated robot system in order to enhance work efficiency and resolve safety issues.

  • For the reliable prediction of maneuverability of a ship, lots of captive model tests have been carried out for over 10 years. But the parameters appearing in the mathematical model are so versatile and showing complex characteristics, and it is still hard to establish the useful formulae that we can adopt directly in the design stage. In this paper, the most important parameters in the mathematical model. i.e.($1-\omega_P$) the effective wake fraction at propeller, and $\delta_R(\beta_R)$), the effective rudder inflow angles are investigated by the captive model tests at the circulating water channel. The model is tested at designed speed and at low speed, and the drafts at both full load and ballast load conditions are taken. Propeller thrusts and rudder normal forces are measured at the given drift angle and propeller revolution. These forces are used for the analysis of the effective flow velocity or flow direction, to the propeller or rudder.

  • This paper proposes a design plan of short-term temporary housing for the victims by disaster. Also construction workability and residential environment evaluated by mock-up. In particular, in the event of a disaster, victims have lived the auditorium or gymnasium of the nearby school which is an emergency shelter. However, there was a problem of livability. Therefore, it is the purpose of study to provide temporary housing that resides within 30 days. For this purpose, a composite panel with light weight and insulation select to produce mock-up. The mock-up complete in about an hour. This is because it is made only of the composite panels. The composite panels confirm to be easy to load and construct. And mock-up evaluates insulation and waterproofing performance in the laboratory. As a result, Mock-up has insulation and waterproofing performance. This suggests an alternative to short -term temporary housing.

  • This study describes the design and implementation of a simulated signal generator to demonstrate the performance of VHF band radar for the detection of small targets in RCS(Radar Cross Section). The transmission and reception antenna beam widths used in the simulated signal generating apparatus may be large, which may cause problems in the degree of isolation. Interference signal immunity and isolation characteristics are improved by considering operating conditions of VHF radar to solve isolation of antennas. Simulated signal generator performs the following: VHF radar transmission and reception correction, simulation signal generation, target Doppler, RCS and distance simulation, remote control, and GPS clock synchronization function. After the fabrication of the simulated signal generator, the main characteristics, such as the output characteristics and the reflection signal simulations, were tested. When the microwave radar assembly is completed in the future, it will be utilized for the performance evaluation of VHF radar.

  • In this study, shape design and material selection were carried out for a two-stage pressure-reducing regulator to compensate for the shortcomings of a one-stage mechanical decompression regulator. The shape of the contact surface of the depressurization unit was considered, material was selected, and the shape was designed to compensate for the pulsation and slow response through the two-stage decompression and to solve the problem of high pressure deviation. In terms of airtightness, the deformation amount of TPU showed a small amount of displacement of up to 15.82%. Considering the fact that it is applicable to various hydrogen fuel supply systems by securing universality by applying electronic solenoids to the second pressure reduction, magnetic materials were selected. The hydrogen embrittlement and corrosion resistance were evaluated to verify the plating process. Surface corrosion did not occur in only the case of Cr plating. The elongation during the corrosion process was compared using a tensile test, and there was a difference within 2%.

Design and Characterization of Ascorbyl Glucoside loaded Solid Lipid Nanoparticles to improve skin penetration (피부 투과 개선을 위한 고형지질나노입자내 Ascorbyl glucoside 봉입 설계 및 특성화)

  • The aim of the present study was to design ascorbyl glucoside (AG) loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) to improve skin penetration of AG. AG loaded SLNs were prepared using double emulsion method. The prepared AG loaded SLNs investigated particle characteristics (particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, loading capacity). Skin penetration study was carried out using SkinEthic RHE as one of the reconstructed human epidermis models. The mean particle size and zeta potential of SLNs were 172.65 - 347.19 nm and -22.90 - -41.20 mV, respectively. The loading capacity of AG loaded SLNs demonstrated that loading efficiency and loading amount were ranged from 44.18% to 57.77% and 12.83% to 16.15%, respectively. The results of penetration showed that all SLNs enhanced the skin penetration of AG and the amount of AG from SLNs were approximately 3.7 - 7.4 times higher than that from AG solution. Therefore, AG loaded SLN might be a promising topical drug delivery system.

Automotive Door Impact Beam Development using Thermoplastic Composite (열가소성 복합재 적용 자동차 도어 임팩트 빔 개발)

  • Thermoplastic composite is introduced to design an automotive door impact beam, and the manufacturing process is demonstrated. The safety regulation for vehicles has been steadily tightened, and weight-reduction has become a mandatory factor in the automotive industry. Hence, both high-performance and lightweight are demanded for automotive components. The aim of the present study is to develop an automotive door impact beam using fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites to reduce the weight of the impact beam while increasing its mechanical performance. A new production method which combines continuous fiber-reinforced composite and LFT(Long Fiber-reinforced Thermoplastic) is implemented by using insert injection molding process. The mechanical performance of the composite impact beam was evaluated using 3-point bending tests. Thermoplastic composite will expand its application range to various automotive components due to its light-weight design capability and high productivity.
