Assessment of River Discharge Survey Project in 2009 (2009년 유량조사사업 평가)

  • 유량조사는 하천의 임의 한 단면에 흐르는 물의 양을 측정하는 것으로서 하천유역의 물순환 구조 파악, 하천시설의 설치, 각종 수공 구조물의 설계, 하천 주변지역의 이용 및 관리 등을 목적으로 실시하고 있다. 이에 따라 유량조사사업단은 전국 수위관측소 지점을 대상으로 유량측정을 실시하고 측정된 성과에 대한 체계적인 품질관리와 연구개발을 통한 유량자료의 안정화를 위하여 매년 100여개 지점에서 유량조사사업을 실시하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2009년도 유량측정성과에 대한 평가기준으로 각 성과별 구간유량비와 불확실도를 선정하였으며, 이와 같은 항목은 측정 중 배치된 측선수에 절대적인 영향을 받게 된다. 그 결과 2009년 유량측정성과의 측선수 평균은 2003년도 대비 유속계 및 부자의 경우 각각 3.7배, 2.2배 증가한 35.1개, 13.8개로 나타났다. 측선수 증가를 통해 최대구간유량비는 유속계 및 부자 각각 30.0%, 51.2% 감소한 7.1%, 14.6%로 나타났으며, 불확실도의 경우 45.1%, 62.4% 감소하여 4.6%, 8.8%의 개선된 값을 보였다. 이러한 양질의 측정성과를 이용해 개발된 수위-유량관계곡선식과 환산유량에 대한 유출률을 검토한 결과, 조석 및 배수 영향을 받는 지점과 계기수위 자료에 문제가 발생한 지점을 제외한 지점에 대한 유출률 분포는 2003년 최대 300%까지 나타났던 유출률이 일반적인 하천에서 나타날 수 있는 유출률 50~90% 비율도 계속 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 2009년 강수량은 평년 수준을 보였으나, 지역적 시기적 편차 등으로 인해 낙동강 권역의 경우 50% 미만의 유출률을 보인 지점이 다수 나타났다. 이러한 성과는 전문 인력에 의한 유량측정 및 유량성과에 대한 품질관리시스템의 운영을 통해 비교적 양질의 유량자료를 확보할 수 있었으며 이에 근거하여 개발된 수위-유량관계곡선식과 환산된 유량자료는 과거에 비하여 신뢰성이 개선된 것으로 평가되었다. 일련의 체계적인 운영 및 검증을 통해 2009년 유량조사사업은 성공적인 수준으로 판단되며, 추후 지속적인 연구개발을 통해 유량자료의 품질수준을 한 단계 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Numerical and Experimental Study on the Surge Performance Improvement by the Bleed Slot Casing of a Centrifugal Compressor (서지성능 향상을 위한 원심압축기의 Bleed Slot Casing의 설계변수에 대한 해석 및 시험 평가)

  • The primary design goal of a compressor is focused on improving efficiency. Secondary objective is to widen the operating range of compressor. This paper presents a numerical and experimental investigation of the influence of the bleed slot on the operating range for the 1.2 MW class centrifugal compressor installed in a turbocharger. The main design parameters of the bleed slot casing are upstream slot position, inlet pipe slope, downstream slot position and width. The DOE(design of experiment) method was carried out to optimize the casing design. Numerical analyses were done by the commercial code ANSYS-CFX based on the three dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Results showed that efficiency and pressure ratio increased as the downstream slot position and width were smaller and the upstream position was located away from the impeller inlet. Experimental works were also done with and without the bleed slot casing. The simulation results were in good agreement with the test data. Enhancement of both the surge margin up to 26.5% and the pressure ratio with the optimized bleed slot design were achieved, compared with the surge margin of only 6.6% without the bleed slot casing.

Design of Recycle Bubble Column Reactor for Continuous Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Cellulose (섬유소의 연속 효소 가수분해를 위한 순환식 기포탑 반응기의 설계)

  • Enzymatic hydrolysis of insoluble cellulose was performed in a bubble column with tangential flow ulrafiltration membrane unit. The reactor was operated in a batch mode as well as semi-continuous and continuous with continuous removal of products through the tangential flow ultrafiltration membrane. The optimum superficial gas velocity was 1-3cm / sec so as to avoid bubble coalescence and enzyme denaturation. In continuous and selni-cotinuous process, the conversion was gradually increased but the total reduced sugar concentration was drcastically dereased with the dilution rate. It was concluded that the bubble column attaching tangential flow ultrafiltration membrane unit was effective on continuous hydrolysis of cellulose and recovery of enzyme.

  • The fluid system such as, the quantity control of raw water, chemicals control in the purification, the waste water system as well as in the feed water or circulation system of the power plant and the ventilation system is controlled with the valve and moter pump. The system's performance and the energy saving of the fluid systems depend on control of method and delicacy. Until, PI controller use in these system but it cannot control delicately because of the coupling in the system loop. In this paper we configure a single flow system to the multi variable system and suggest the application of 2-DOF PID controller and the tuning methods by the neural network to the electrical power of the flow control system. the 2-DOF controller follows to a setpoint has a robustness against the disturbance in the results of simulation.   • This paper proposes a design of the three-parallel converter system and grid-connection technique for a PMSG based wind turbine systems. The back-to-back converter of the PMSG based wind turbine system is directly connected to the grid so that both the power devices and the filters are needed to have large power ratings. The three-parallel converter configuration can reduce the required power ratings of the devices and filters. However, the three-parallel converter can cause circulating currents. These circulating currents can be suppressed by sellecting proper inner inductance at each leg. An LCL filter design is used to meet the THD regulations. The latent resonance caused by the LCL filter is compensated by an active damping method without additional loss. The decline of the power quality caused by the unbalanced and distorted grid voltages is also compensated with an additional compensation algorithm. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed system and compensation methods are effective for the wind turbine systems.

Analysis on the Energy Balance and Performance Variation of the Power Plant by using the Heavy Residual Oil (중질잔사유 적용시 발전플랜트의 에너지 수지 및 성능 변화 분석)

  • The numerical analysis of energy and material balance, and plant performance has been carried out when applying the heavy residual oil instead of heavy oil to the existing heavy oil power station. The performance analysis model has been constructed for A heavy oil power station in Korea, and the modeling results were compared with the design data in order to ensure the validity of the model, and further compared with the plant operation data. With the heavy residual oil, the simulation gave 315 MW in power output, which is higher than that of the heavy oil combustion, but the plant efficiency turned out to be lower. The sensitivity analysis of heat rate for the changes in cooling water and ambient temperature, flue gas recirculation and power output has provided valuable information for the optimal operation of the power station.

  • In this study, we Presented computational results on the blood flow in the sac of the Korean artificial heart. Two dimensional unsteady flow was assumed and we utilized a finite element commercial code ADINA to simulate the blood flow. Rigid body-solid contact were considered between the actuator and the blood sac and fluid-structure interaction between the blood and the sac. The three geometric models proposed in the design process were simulated to assess the hemodynamic characteristics of the models According to the computational results, a strong flow to the outlet and a stagnated flow region near the inlet were observed during systole. The sac was filled with blood and recirculating flow was generated near the outlet during diastole. Shear stress during systole had its extreme values near the outlet edge whereas the magnitude of shear stress values were relative)v high near the inlet edge and the contacting surface with the actuator.

A Research on the Development of a GIS-based Real-time Urban Water Management System (GIS기반 실시간 도시용수 관리시스템 구현에 관한 연구)

  • The ultimate purpose of this research is to propose a method to improve water supply management efficiency. As an effort to solve this comprehensive problem, the purposes of this paper are summarized into the following two main subjects. One is the development of a series of demand forecasting models targeting for each theme of urban water such as residential, commercial, industrial water. The other is the suggestion on the development and utilization plan of a GIS-based information system where the developed models are incorporated. For these, a series of efforts were performed such as evaluating and choosing of the candidate field areas, selecting a proper sensor and an installation point for each theme. Installed are sensors, a wireless communication infrastructure, and a field data acquisition and management server. Developed are a protocol for the wireless communication and a real-time data monitoring system. Nextly, the urban water facility-related and other necessary data were handled to make those into a series of GIS-ready databases. Finally, a GIS-based management system was designed and a blueprint for the implementation is suggested.

  • The disabled and elderly people have a wide variety of functional impairments. By disability and elderly user group definition identification of users needs and specification of emergency support system were studied. Existing technologies including location navigation and information exchange devise and communication systems were analyzed to design proper integrated system for emergency situations. There are two types of services considered in the project: assisted living services(ALS) including health and emergency needs and assisted mobility services(AMS) with transportation needs. To develop emergency support system, functional identification and requirements was studied through the analysis of existing emergency system and organization. The 4-step emergency management scheme was developed to preactive emergency service which include emergency detection identification, response and follow-up steps.

Aerodynamic Analysis of Various Winglets (윙렛 형상에 따른 공력 특성 해석)

  • Aircraft fuel efficiency is one of main concerns to aircraft manufacturers and to aviation companies because jet fuel price has tripled in last ten years. One of simple and effective methods to increase fuel efficiency is to reduce aircraft induced drag by using of wingtip devices. Induced drag is closely related to the circulation distribution, which produces strong wingtip vortex behind the tip of a finite wing. Wingtip devices including winglets can be successfully applied to reduce induced drag by wingtip vortex mitigation. Winglet design, however, is very complicated process and has to consider many parameters including installation position, height, taper ratio, sweepback, airfoil, toe-out angle and cant angle of winglets. In current research, different shapes of winglets are compared in the view of vortex mitigation. Appropriately designed winglets are proved to mitigate wingtip vortex and to increase lift to drag ratio. Also, the results show that winglets are more efficient than wingtip extension. That is the reason B-747-400 and B-737-800 chose winglets instead of a span increase to increase payload and range. Drag polar comparison chart is presented to show that minimum drag is increased by viscous drag of winglet, but at high lift, total drag is reduced by induced drag decrease. So, winglets are more efficient for aircraft that cruises at a high lift condition, which generates very strong wingtip vortex.
