The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of rotational preference on body stability based on COP and EMG analysis in an quiet standing after turn in the left and right directions. The subjects of this study were 16 subjects with a high lateral preference for the right hand and foot. The subjects of this study were 16 subjects with high unilateral preference for the right hand and foot, and three rotational direction conditions (QS: quiet standing, LT: 10 turns on the left, RT: 10 turns on the right) were performed. In order to evaluate the stability in an quiet standing after turning, the results were derived and analyzed using a COP plate and an EMG. As a result of the study, LT and RT were larger than QS for all COP variables, but there was no difference according to the direction of turning. In EMG, RT showed larger muscle activity than the QS according to the rotational direction in left and right gastrocnemius. In conclusion, although all subjects had a high right lateral preference, there was no effect of rotational preference in COP, and gastrocnemius showed the effect of rotational preference.

When a FM-CW radar is used to measure the target distance, the nonlinearity relationship between the VCO control voltage and the output frequency makes an adverse effect on the measurement accuracy. Recently, many nonlinearity correction schemes using signal processing techniques and dedicated hardwares have been studied. This paper presents a signal processing technique to compensate for the VCO nonlinearity using a reference signal. To demonstrate the validity of the presented technique, several experiments were conducted and the results show reduction of the distortion in the range profile and the resolution improvement.

In modern society, the service method is tended to prefer the non-face-to-face method rather than the face-to-face method. However, services that recommend products such as shoes will inevitably be face-to-face method. In this paper, for the purpose of non-face-to-face service, a system that a foot size is automatically measured and some shoes are recommended based on the measurement result is proposed. To analyze the performance of the proposed method, size measurement error rate and recommendation performance were analyzed. In the recommendation performance experiments, a total of 10 methods for similarity calculation were used and the recommendation method with the best performance among them was applied to the system. From the experiments, the error rate the foot size was small and the recommendation performance was possible to derive significant results. The proposed method is at the laboratory level and needs to be expanded and applied to the real environment. Also, the recommendation method considering design could be needed in the future work.

Among various implementation techniques of recommender systems, collaborative filtering selects nearest neighbors with high similarity based on past rating history, recommends products preferred by them, and has been successfully utilized by many commercial sites. Accurate estimation of similarity is an important factor that determines performance of the system. Various similarity measures have been developed, which are mostly based on integrating traditional similarity measures and several indices already developed. This study suggests a similarity measure of a novel approach. It separates the common rating area between two users by the magnitude of ratings, estimates similarity for each subarea, and integrates them with weights. This enables identifying similar subareas and reflecting it onto a final similarity value. Performance evaluation using two open datasets is conducted, resulting in that the proposed outperforms the previous one in terms of prediction accuracy, rank accuracy, and mean average precision especially with the dense dataset. The proposed similarity measure is expected to be utilized in various commercial systems for recommending products more suited to user preference.
The objective of this paper was to analyse the foot type of female university students by the direct and indirect measure of foot and the measures of foot outline. The results were as follow: 1. The length and the width of foot were small and ankle slender and the modification of the big toe slight. 2. The analysis on the 16 measure items revealed five factors; the first factor was related to the width and girth of foot, the second one to the length of foot, the third one to the transformation of the little toe, the fourth one to the height of foot, the fifth one to transformation of the big toe. 3. The grouping on the shape of foot revealed three types. The inline angle of foot was the smallest in average in the type 1, while it appeared to be middle in the other types. The wider foot shapes were grouped as type 2 because their inline and outline angles of foot were the biggest in average. In the type 3, the big toe was curved a lot, since it was the largest in average. 4. From the naked eye measuring method, classification from which toe was popped-out told that Egyptian foot was 30.9%, Greek foot 27.9%. On the other hand, the instrumental method showed that Egyptian foot was 57.3%, Squared foot 35.3% and Greek foot 7.4%. 5. The result from the analysis about the traits of foot shape by the degree of the arch formation of bottom foot, showed that 33.8% had the normal foot, 66.2% slightly flat foot or middle one. There was no one with rigid flat foot. 6. The shoes size they declared were that 240cm was 33.3%, 235cm 18.1% and 245cm 18.1%. The shape of their shoe heel were flat heel(34.8%), cuban heel(25.5%), and narrow straight heel(19.9%); and that of the shoe toe were round toe(25.4%), oval toe(20.4%) and squared toe(20.4%). 7. The discomforting parts when they wear shoes were the little toe(35.4%), the rear of foot(13.9%), and the width of foot(13.9%), which was related to their dislike of shoe with the pointed toe.
We aimed to determine the effect of heel height on foot pressure by comparing and analyzing data on foot pressure in shoes with different heel heights. Qn the basis of a previous study, we selected 3cm and 7cm as the shoe heel heights preferred by female college students. We divided 10 female students into forefoot and hindfoot to measure vertical force, maximum pressure, and average pressure. The average pressure on the forefoot was higher and that on the hindfoot was lower in the case of 7cm high-heeled shoes. The maximum pressure on the forefoot was significantly higher in the case of the 7cm heel height (p<.05). The vertical force, maximum pressure, and average pressure on the hindfoot were also significantly higher in the case of the 7cm heel height (p<.05). The results showed that wearing 7cm high-heeled shoes exerted greater maximum pressure on the forefoot and greater vertical force, maximum pressure, and average pressure on the Hndfoot. This leads to increase in confining pressure caused by high pressure distribution over the forefoot and increase in the pressure on the hindfoot, which may cause deformation of toes and heel pain over a long period. Therefore, female college students who wish to wear high heels are recommended to wear 3cm high-heeled shoes rather than 7cm high-heeled shoes.
Sunsik has been popular as well-being and healthy food to some Asian people, but it still has a limit to other foreigners because of its taste and appearance. This study tried to modify Sunsik into smoothie type for foreigners and investigate its physicochemical characteristics. Germinated black and brown rice was prepared. The germination condition of two cereals was steeping for 24 hr at room temperature, and then germinating for 24 hr at $30^{\circ}C$. After germination, the ${\alpha}$-amylase activity of germinated grains was 13~15 times higher than before germination. The enzyme activity of brown rice was 9.16 CU/g, but germinated brown rice was 152.63 CU/g. In case of black rice, enzyme activity before germination was 7.47 CU/g, and enzyme activity after germination was 97.96 CU/g. The lactic acid bacteria was grown in 50 g germinated brown rice powder with 100 ml malt solution, 30 g tomato juice, and 1.5 g rice bran. After manufacturing beverage using milk and Sunsik and the cell count of lactic acid bacteria was $1.3{\times}10^5CFU/ml$ enough to use starter. According to sensory test, the optimal concentration of Sunsik smoothie was 30 g Sunsik in 200 ml of milk. The viscosity was $5.97{\pm}1.2$ centipoise. The color of Sunsik beverage was evaluated as L value : $63.50{\pm}0.41$, a value: $-0.35{\pm}0.06$, and b value: $8.85{\pm}0.19$.
