Selective Separation of Semiconducting Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes via Microwave Irradiation (마이크로웨이브 조사를 이용한 반도체성 단일벽 탄소나노튜브의 선택적 분리)

  • In this study, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) were synthesized on a Fe/$Al_2O_3$/Si layer by thermal chemical vapor deposition. Metallic SWCNTs were selectively removed by microwave irradiation. Electrical and structural characterizations of the SWCNTs clearly revealed that the metallic SWCNTs were almost removed by microwave irradiation for 120 sec. The remained semiconducting SWCNTs with a high crystalline structure were obtained over 95%. This method would provide useful information for applications to SWCNTs-based field effect transistors and multifaceted nanoelectronics.

Speckle Noise Removal by Rank-ordered Differences Diffusion Filter (순위 차 확산 필터를 이용한 스페클 잡음 제거)

  • The purposes of this paper are to present a selection method of neighboring pixels whose local statistics are similar to the center pixel and combine the selection result with mean curvature diffusion filter to reduce noises in remote sensed imagery. The order of selection of neighboring pixels is critical, especially for finding a pixel belonging to the homogeneous region, since the statistics of the homogeneous region vary according to the selection order. An effective strategy for selecting neighboring pixels, which uses rank-order differences vector obtained by computing the intensity differences between the center pixel and neighboring pixels and arranging them in ascending order, is proposed in this paper. By using region growing method, we divide the elements of the rank-ordered differences vector into two groups, homogeneous rank-ordered differences vector and outlier rank-ordered differences vector. The mean curvature diffusion filter is combined with a line process, which chooses selectively diffusion coefficient of the neighboring pixels belonging into homogeneous rank-ordered differences vector. Experimental results using an aerial image and a TerraSAR-X satellite image showed that the proposed method reduced more efficiently noises than some conventional adaptive filters using all neighboring pixels in updating the center pixel.

Selective Removal of Odorants in Natural Gas by Adsorption on Metal-containing Beta Zeolite Adsorbents (금속함유 베타 제올라이트 흡착제 상에서 LNG가스 내에 부취된 황화합물의 선택적 흡착제거)

  • In this study, H-type beta zeolites (BEA) having various metals were used as the adsorbent for the removal of sulfur containing odorants. The different adsorbents containing single or bimetals were utilized to investigate the performance in the individual adsorption of TBM and THT odorants or in the competitive adsorption between them by using a continuous adsorptive bed system. The result shows that the pure H-type BEA zeolite exhibited the highest adsorption capacity for TBM compound, but the higher amount of THT was removed and adsorbed on a HBEA adsorbent having Fe, Pd metal and ZnO oxide. In the case of bimetal containing adsorbents, Cu-Zn/HBEA and Fe-Mo/HBEA showed a higher adsorption capacity for TBM.

Adaptive Postprocessing Technique for Compressed Images using Directional Activity-based Block Analysis (방향성 활동도 기반 블록 분석을 통한 압축 영상의 적응적 후처리 기법)

  • This paper addresses an adaptive postprocessing technique to remove blocking effects of the highly compressed images. The proposed technique removes blocking effects selectively by applying filters with different strength according to block analysis based on the directional activity. One-dimensional filters which are used to remove grid noises accomplish the adaptive filtering to the signal itself as well as to the directionality of the block. Moreover, we propose a detection method of the staircase noises and corner outliers and a two-dimensional directional filter to remove them. Experimental results for various images and bitrates show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional methods in PSNR for the objective performance and GBIM for the subjective quality evaluation.

  • 편광기는 광변조기나 스위치 등과 같이 구동을 위해 하나의 편광성분을 요구하는 소자를 동작시킬 때 필수적으로 요구되는 소자이다. 편광기를 구현하는 기법에 따라 벌크형, 집적광학형 그리고 광섬유형으로 구분할 수 있다. 광섬유형은 광섬유를 절단하지 않고 제작이 가능하여 삽입손실이 작고 높은 기계적 신뢰성을 가진다. 측면 연마된 광섬유(side-polished fiber)위에 복굴절 크리스탈$^{(1)}$ , 액정크리스탈$^{(2)}$ , 금속막$^{(3)}$ , 그리고 복굴절을 가지는 평면도파로$^{(4)}$ 를 결합한 구조가 잘 알려져 있다. 특히 광섬유-평면도파로 결합 구조는 원하는 파장에서 TE혹은 TM 편광성분을 선택적으로 제거할 수 있고 평면도파로 물질선택이 용이한 구조이기 때문에 많은 주목을 받아 왔다. 하지만 지금 까지 알려진 광섬유-평면도파로 결합기를 이용한 편광기는 편광선택 작용이 발생하는 파장범위가 좁아 범용적으로 사용하는데 적합하지 않는 점이 있다. Enantioselective Hydrolysis for the Precursor of Azole-containing Compounds using Acinetobacter sp. SY-01 Lipase and Increase of Enantioselectivity by the Removal of Reaction Products (Acinetobacter sp. SY-01 Lipase를 이용한 아졸계 화합물 전구체에 대한 광학선택적 가수분해 반응과 생성물 제거에 의한 광학선택성 증가)

  • Screening of a strain was carried out to produce an enantioselective lipase toward the precursor of ltraconazole as azole-containg compounds, which are well known as antifungal drug agents. An Acinetobacter sp. SY-01 strain which can selectively hydrolyze the racemic substrates was isolated and the racemic substrate was resolved to the S-ester in 95.6% enantiomeric excess after 74.8% hydrolysis. The optimum temperature and pH for the conversion were $50^{\circ}C$, pH 7.0. However, the temperature and pH had no effect on the enantiomeric excess. Addition of solvents decreased the conversion and slightly increased the enantiomeric excess. However, the kind of solvents had no effect on enantiomeric excess. The substrate concentration decrease enantiomeric excess and this is confirmed by the products generated from hydrolysis, and also enantiomeric excess could be increased by the removal of reaction products.

  • III족 원료 가스로 triethylgallium(TEGa)과 trimethylindium(TMIn)을 사용하고 V족 원료 가스로 사전 열 분해하지 않은 arsine(AsH3)과 monoethylarsine(MEAs)을 사용하여 ultrahigh vacuum chemical vapor deposition(UHVCVD)법으로 Si3N4로 패턴된 GaAs(100)기판 위에 GaAs와 InGaAsqkr막을 선택적으로 에피택시 성장을 하였다. V족 원료 가스를 사전 열 분해하지 않으므로 넓은 성장 온도 구간과 V/lll 비율에서도 선택적으로 박막이 성장되었다. 또한 선택 에피택시의 성장 메카니즘을 규명하기 위하여 다양한 filling factor(전체면적중 opening된 면적의 비율)를 가지는 기판을 제작하여 성장에 사용하였다. UHVCVD법에서는 마스크에 면적중 opening된 면적의 비율)를 가지는 기판을 제작하여 성장에 사용하였다. UHVCVD법에서는 마스크에 입사된 분자 상태의 원료 기체가 탈착된 후 표면 이동이나 가스 상태의 확산과정 없이 마스크로부터 제거되므로 패턴의 크기와 모양에 따른 성장 속도의 변화나 조성의 변화가 없을 뿐만 아니라 chemical beam epitaxy(CBE)/metalorganic molecular beam epitaxy(MOMBE)법에서 알려진 한계 성장온도 이하에서 선택 에피택시 성장이 이루어졌다.

A Novel Compensation Scheme for I/Q Mismatch in an OFDM Direct-Conversion Architecture (OFDM 전송방식 기반의 Direct-Conversion 수신기에서 I/Q 불균형 보상을 위한 새로운 방법 제안)

  • This paper proposes a compensation method that can alleviate the problem of I/Q mismatch generated in the direct-conversion receiver of OFDM systems. In the proposed method, the amount of I/Q mismatch is estimated using null-carriers in transmitted signals, and it is subtracted from received symbols to suppress I/Q mismatch effects. Simulations show experiments that the proposed method can effectively eliminate the I/Q mismatch effects.

  • Measuring subtle neuromagnetic signals requires eliminating background noises. Especially, a SQUID magnetometer is very sensitive to the magnetic noise even from a distant source. As typical software methods, we use the synthetic gradiometer of the adaptive filtering to reduce the noises. In this article, we present noise reduction effects in our 37-channel SQUID magnetometer system by applying each method including the frequency-domain adaptive filtering and discuss a selective application of the methods to the detection of clinical magnetoencephalogram signals.
