Characteristics of Selectivity in Anion Exchanges (음이온 선택도 특성)

  • Ion exchange is a chemical reaction between the ions in solution phase and ions in solid phase and is widely used in softening, demineralization, removal and collection of specific ions, and ion migration in the ground water. The ion selectivity depends on the charge and the hydrated radius of ion. The objective of this study was to examine the applicability of anion selectivity obtained from the ion exchange equilibrium OH/sup -/ < F/sup -/ < HCO/sup -/ < Cl/sup -/ < Br/sup -/ ≤ NO₃/sup -/ < SO₄/sup 2-/ to the column ion exchange. The column ion exchange was facilitated in the lower charge of counter-ion in the background electrolyte.

  • The trend towards the application of single enantiomers of chiral compounds is undoubtedly increasing. Among the various methods to obtain one single enantio-riched compound selectively, enantioselective catalysis is the most attractive method. Especially, it is important to increase the activity, selectivity and lifetime of usually expensive chiral catalysts with a minute quantity in the enantioselective synthesis. Immobilization of active homogeneous catalysts is a fashionable topic in asymmetric catalysis, providing the inherent advantage of easy separation and better handling properties. Many different ways have been investigated to improve the enantioselectivity of products and to recycle the catalysts. This review mainly focused on the present scope and limitations of different types of enantioselective heterogeneous catalysts.

Online Catalog Organization for the Effectiveness of Information Acces (정보접근의 효율성을 위한 온라인 목록의 구성)

  • The purpose of the study is to identify what search options are used to decide how to search on the online catalog system, and to suggest a format of the initial screen NOTIS and Dynix systems were used. Data collection was conducted in accordance with a $'2\times2'$ design. The study shows the effect on user choices of the initial men formal especially where the arrangement and breadth of search options are concerned. The availability of search options provides various users' search option selection The results of the study suggest that users can input only search term(s) on the initial screen without choice of search option Then, users may select search fields depending upon the results of searching. This method can reduce the search fail when users select wrong search option on the online catalog.

A Study on motion estimator design using DCT DC value (DCT 직류 값을 이용한 움직임 추정기 설계에 관한 연구)

  • 정보량이 많은 고화질의 동영상을 실시간으로 전송하기 위하여 압축 알고리즘을 필수적으로 사용하고 있으며, 시간적 중복성을 제거하는 동영상의 압축방법은 움직임 추정 알고리즘을 사용한다. 본 연구에서 설계하고자 하는 움직임 추정기는 블록정합 알고리즘이며, MPEG 부호기에서 사용되는 DCT 연산 결과인 DC 값을 이용하여 화면의 밝기를 판단한다. 움직임 추정기는 휘도 신호 8비트 모두를 사용하지 않고, 화면 밝기에 따른 비트 플레인(bit plane)에서 3비트만 선택하는 비교선택기를 이용한다. 본 연구에서 제안한 비교 선택기는 I-Picture만을 계산한다. I-Picture에 의해 계산된 선택 비트는 I, P와 B Picture의 움직임 추정 연산에 사용함으로서 움직임 추정기의 크기를 줄일 수 있는 구조를 제안하였다. 제안된 움직임 추정기의 고찰을 위하여 실험에 사용된 표준 동영상의 해상도는 352×288이며, DCT 연산의 처리 블록은 8×8이며, 탐색 영역은 23×23이다. 제안된 알고리즘은 C언어로 모델링하였으며, 기존 완전탐색방법과 PSNR을 비교한 결과 사람의 시각으로 거의 구별할 수 없는 작은 차이(0~0.83dB)가 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 제안한 움직임 추정기의 하드웨어 크기는 기존 구조Ⅰ보다 38.3%, 기존 구조Ⅱ보다 30.7% 줄일 수 있었고, 메모리 크기는 기존 구조Ⅰ,Ⅱ보다 31.3% 줄일 수 있었다.

Mesochronous Clock Based Synchronizer Design for NoC (위상차 클럭 기반 NoC 용 동기회로 설계)

  • Network on a chip(NoC) is a communication subsystem between intellectual property(IP) cores in a SoC and improves high performance in the scalability and the power efficiency compared with conventional buses and crossbar switches. NoC needs a synchronizer to overcome the metastability problem between data links. This paper presents a new mesochronous synchronizer(MS) which is composed of selection window generator, selection signal generator, and data buffer. A delay line circuit is used to build selection window in selection window generator based on the delayed clock cycle of transmitted clock and the transmitted clock is compared with local clock to generate a selection signal in the SW(selection window). This MS gets rid of the restriction of metastability by choosing a rising edge or a falling edge of local clock according to the value of selection signal. The simulation results show that the proposed MS operates correctly for all phase differences between a transmitted clock and a local clock.

A Fast and Efficient Haar-Like Feature Selection Algorithm for Object Detection (객체검출을 위한 빠르고 효율적인 Haar-Like 피쳐 선택 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a fast and efficient Haar-like feature selection algorithm for training classifier used in object detection. Many features selected by Haar-like feature selection algorithm and existing AdaBoost algorithm are either similar in shape or overlapping due to considering only feature's error rate. The proposed algorithm calculates similarity of features by their shape and distance between features. Fast and efficient feature selection is made possible by removing selected features and features with high similarity from feature set. FERET face database is used to compare performance of classifiers trained by previous algorithm and proposed algorithm. Experimental results show improved performance comparing classifier trained by proposed method to classifier trained by previous method. When classifier is trained to show same performance, proposed method shows 20% reduction of features used in classification.

3D Reconstruction using the Key-frame Selection from Reprojection Error (카메라 재투영 오차로부터 중요영상 선택을 이용한 3차원 재구성)

  • Key-frame selection algorithm is defined as the process of selecting a necessary images for 3D reconstruction from the uncalibrated images. Also, camera calibration of images is necessary for 3D reconstuction. In this paper, we propose a new method of Key-frame selection with the minimal error for camera calibration. Using the full-auto-calibration, we estimate camera parameters for all selected Key-frames. We remove the false matching using the fundamental matrix computed by algebraic deviation from the estimated camera parameters. Finally we obtain 3D reconstructed data. Our experimental results show that the proposed approach is required rather lower time costs than others, the error of reconstructed data is the smallest. The elapsed time for estimating the fundamental matrix is very fast and the error of estimated fundamental matrix is similar to others.

  • Gene expression data present the level of mRNA abundance of each gene, and analyses of gene expressions have provided key ideas for understanding the mechanism of diseases and developing new drugs and therapies. Nowadays high-throughput technologies such as DNA microarray and RNA-sequencing enabled the simultaneous measurement of thousands of gene expressions, giving rise to a characteristic of gene expression data known as high dimensionality. Due to the high-dimensionality, learning models to analyze gene expression data are prone to overfitting problems, and to solve this issue, dimension reduction or feature selection techniques are commonly used as a preprocessing step. In particular, we can remove irrelevant and redundant genes and identify important genes using gene selection methods in the preprocessing step. Various gene selection methods have been developed in the context of machine learning so far. In this paper, we intensively review recent works on gene selection methods using machine learning approaches. In addition, the underlying difficulties with current gene selection methods as well as future research directions are discussed.

Fuzzy-based Segment-Boost Method for Effective Face Recognition (퍼지기반 Segment-Boost 방법을 통한 효과적인 얼굴인식)

  • This paper suggests fuzzy-based Segment-Boost method and an effective method for face recognition using the fuzzy-based Segment-Boost. Fuzzy-based Segment-Boost eliminates the limitations of Segment-Boost, and it guarantees improved learning performance and the stability of the performance. By using the fuzzy theory, fuzzy-based Segment-Boost optimizes the selection number of sub-vectors, and leads the optimized learning performance. The fuzzy controller designed in this paper measures learning performance of the fuzzy-based Segment-Boost, and it controls the selection number of sub-vectors by inferring the optimized selection number. The simulation results show that the fuzzy controller inferred the selection number which is very approximate to the true optimized value. As a result, fuzzy-based Segment-Boost showed higher face recognition rate than compared boosting methods and it preserves the velocity of feature selection as fast as that of Segment-Boost. From the experimental results, it was proved that fuzzy-based Segment-Boost has improved and stable performances of learning, feature selection and face recognition.

Radiographic Prognostic Criteria of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy for Pancreatic Ductal Stones (체외충격파쇄석술 적용을 위한 췌관결석의 방사선학적 선택)

  • The pain of chronic pancreatitis associated intraductal stones is related to increased intraductal pressure. Decom-pression of the pancreatic duct along with extraction of stones are the goals of a combined endoscopic-extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy approach. The aim of this study is to define radiographic prognostic criteria for better complete free rate of pancreatic head and body ductal stones for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. Fifty-nine patients with chronic pancreatitis were treated by extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy for endoscopically unretrievable stones. The stones on endoscopic retrograde pancreatograms were classified into four characteristics including number, size of longest diameter, density compared with vertebral body, and shape. Complete stone free were obtained in 45 of 59(76.3%). Pancreatic ductal stones with radiographic characteristics including higher density than vertebral body, square shape, and rim calcified stones were hindrance factors for extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy. We propose that patients with rim calcified stone of our three hindrance factors should be treated by other technique.
