  • The size of ship is being larger than the past in the shipping industry thanks to the increased quantity of goods transported by ship. Therefore, HHIC (Hanjin Heavy industries & Construction co., LTD) invented innovative construction method, so called 'DAM', to build a ship which is longer than the length of the HHIC's dry dock. On Erection at the sea by the application of DAM Method, Squeezing & Detachment of A/F film may occur as a result of the wave and the constriction between A/F film pre-applied on the side shell and DAM's Rubber Packing. Thus, the test for finding the minimum curing time of A/F film was performed to protect Squeezing & Detachment of A/F film on the hull. To verify the soundness of paint and to find the optimum condition during the erection period of the DAM, laboratory test was carried out under no immersion condition through the application of various coatings on the Rubber Packing. And two methods were selected from the results of laboratory test for actual MOCK-UP Test. In addition, the test for the film profile per temperature of silicone A/F coat and the film Squeezing was performed.

A Study on the Collapse Strength Characteristics of Ship Bottom Plating Subject to Slamming Induced Impact Lateral Pressure Loads (선저슬래밍 충격횡압력을 받는 선체 판부재의 붕괴강도 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The twin aims of the paper are to investigate the collapse strength characteristics of ship plating subject to impact pressure loads and to develop a simple structural design formula considering impact load effects. The general purpose nonlinear finite element program STARDYNE together with existing experimental results is used to investigate the collapse behavior of plating under impact pressure loads. The rigid plastic theory taking into account large deflection effects is applied to the development of the design formulation. In the theoretical method, the collapse strength formulation for plating subject to hydrostatic pressure is first derived using the rigid plastic theory. By including the strain rate erects in the formulation it can be applied to impact pressure problems. As illustrative examples, the collapse behavior of steel unstiffened plates and aluminum alloy stiffened panels subject to impact pressure loads is analyzed.

A Study on Design of Fillet Weld Size for Stiffener in the Hull Bottom of Crude Oil Tanker (Crude Oil Tanker 선저부 보강재 필렛 용접부 각장 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the proper fillet weld size for the stiffeners on hull bottom plate of crude oil tanker. To achieve it, the effective notch stress and hot spot stress of the fillet weld with leg length specified in the rule were evaluated by using comprehensive FE analyses. Based on the results, the fatigue damages at each location of weld were calculated. Meanwhile the transitional behavior of initial welding distortion in the hull bottom plate under the design conditions was investigated by using a non-linear FEA. Welding distortion and residual stress introduced during fabrication process were considered as initial imperfections. According to FE analysis results, if the fillet leg length satisfies the design criteria of the classification society, the concern on the root failure at the fillet welds in the bottom hull plate during the design life can be negligible. In addition, considering the transitional behavior of the distortion during the service life, the fillet leg length should be minimized.

  • The propeller induced pressure fluctuation around a ship's stern is one of the interesting problems from viewpoints of the noise and vibration. Most of the experimental works on the subject employ pressure transducer attached on hull surface near the propeller. In the technique, the measured pressure includes the hydrodynamic pressure transducer attached, if they exit. Hence, the separation of the additional pressure due to vibration from the measured pressure is essential for the determination of true values of the propeller induced pressure. In this paper, to contribute to the separation method, the author investigated the additional hydrodynamic pressure as below, based on the numerical calculation. (1) Hydrodynamic pressure on the body surface of two dimensional cylinders of some mathematical sections such as ellipse, rectangle, Lewis form of hypotrocoidal charactor and curvilinear-element section with chines oscillating vertically at high frequency in a free surface. (2) Hydrodynamic pressure on the surface of the shell plate in local vibration in an ideal fluid.

  • The ultimate strength formulas of ship panels are suggested in a simple and suitable form. Firstly, these formulas are derived from a full description of the variables that govern plate strength by using statistical data of actual ships. Secondly, under the assumption of plate mid-edge collapse using the Von-Mises' yield criterion and the new buckling formula, a general equation for the ultimate strength estimation is also derived. The existing test data are compared with these new formulas and a good correlation is shown.

  • The added mass coefficients $K_2$ of two-dimensional cylinders of straightline-element sections for vertical viblation are presented as functions of parameters such as the beam-draf ratio B/H and the sectional area coefficient $\sigma$. The results are compared with those of Lewis forms and curvilinear-elements sections with single chine.

  • This work is a general treatment of added mass calculation of two-dimensional cylinders with straight-framed sections and chines oscillating in the free surface of an ideal fluid with high frequencies. Two and three parameter families in vertical oscillations are treated by employing Schwarz-Christoffel transformation. The results are presented with regards to geometrical parameters such as chine engles, sectional area coefficient and beam draft ratio.

  • In this study, the new dimensionless values were defined and proposed to determine the parameters of urban runoff models based on the relative sensitivity analysis. Also, the sensitivity characteristics of each parameter were investigate.   • The large drift and angle of attack motion of an ROV (Remotely operated vehicle) cannot be modeled using the typical hydrodynamic coefficients of conventional straight running AUVs and specific slender bodies. In this paper, the ROV hull is divided into several simple-shaped components to model the hydrodynamic force and moment. The hydrodynamic force and moment acting on each component are modeled as the components of added mass force and drag using the known values for simple shapes such as a cylinder and flat plate. Since an ROV is operated under the water, the only environmental force considered is the current effect. The target ROV dealt with in this paper has six thrusters, and it is assumed that its maneuvering motion is determined using a thrust allocation algorithm. Tracking simulations are carried out on the ship’s surface near the stern, bow, and midship sections based on the modeling of the hydrodynamic force and current effect.

  • 따개비(barnacle)는 선저부에 붙어서 번식하며 딱딱한 석회질 껍데기로 덮여있다. 이로 인하여 선박의 속도를 저하시키고 도료기능을 상실시키는 주요인이 된다. 이를 제거하기 위해 작업자가 직접 액체를 분사하고 브러쉬로 세척해야 한다는 불편함과 위험에 노출되기 때문에 선박작업용 로봇이나 기계들이 많이 개발되고 있다. 현재 연구 중이거나 개발이 완료된 것 중에는 영구자석 또는 전자석 휠을 사용하거나 공압을 이용하여 수직벽면에서 작업을 한다. 특히 공압 방식을 많이 사용하였는데 수직벽면에 로봇이 밀착될 만큼 강한 공압이 필요하게 되기 때문에 부가적인 장치가 많이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 부가적인 장치를 최소화하고 효과적인 동작을 하기위해 전자석 방식을 선택 하였으며 간편하게 선박의 수직벽면을 작업할 수 있는 전자석 방식의 4륜 로봇을 개발하고자 한다. 선박의 수직벽면 작업용 4륜구동 로봇을 전자석을 이용하여 수직벽면에 부착할 수 있도록 설계하였으며 자력의 세기와 방향을 제어하여 로봇이 선박의 수직면에 밀착되어 자유롭게 이동이 가능하도록 개발 하고자 한다.
