Development of a Calculation Model for an Optimal Safe Distance between Ship Routes and Offshore Wind Sites (선박 통항로와 해상풍력단지 간 최적의 이격거리 산정 모델 개발)

  • Globally, several countries with sea are using eco-friendly energy resources through offshore wind power development by overcoming the weak point of the existing power generation method. The sea has the advantage of being able to develop large scale wind farms in wide waters, but the installation of marine structures threatens the safe operation of vessels. Accordingly, a standard guideline for safe navigation by analyzing the mutual effects between ship routes and offshore wind site was presented by the PIANC. Nonetheless, the standard guideline calculated the same safe distance in all situations. Therefore, this study developed a calculation model for an optimal safe distance between ship routes and offshore wind sites by reflecting the ship's maneuvering, encounter situations, environmental force, traffic density, offshore wind power generators, and channel types. As a result of the validation simulation, the developed model showed that the optimal safe distance was secured.

A Study on the development of Ship Collision Avoidance Support Program considered Speed (속력을 고려한 선박충돌회피지원 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we have studied the ship collision avoidance support on the basis of 'Ship Collision Avoidance Model considered a Speed' for the purpose of the decrease of the human error, caused ship collisions, at sea and the effective support of avoiding ship collisions. The program has been reflected the speed of a target ship, had not been considered in a preceding study. Besides, the program will effectively support a maneuver for a collision avoidance, through the display of a feasible area and the method of a collision avoidance using the own ship's turning characteristic about the action of target ship's course and velocity.

  • Through the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, South Korea is trying to support the "Building Project for Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Bunkering Ship," centered on the Korea Gas Corporation, while the Ministry of Maritime Af airs and Fisheries is pushing to construct an LNG bunkering terminal at Busan New Port. LNG bunkering ships are essential for supplying LNG fuel from the terminal to the ships, resulting in the need for safety operation procedures. Therefore, in this study, the stability of a coastal LNG bunkering ship operating from Busan New Port to the anchorage in Busan Port was assessed to investigate the need for operational procedures for coastal LNG bunkering ships. Seakeeping analysis of the LNG bunkering ship was performed for each significant wave height by combining the response amplitude operator from the ship motion analysis under the potential flow theory with the actual observed sea data for five years and Texel, Marsen, and Arsloe (TMA) spectrum suitable for the Busan coast. The results showed that the roll and horizontal acceleration were the main risks that affected the navigation seakeeping performance above a significance wave height of 2 m. The operational periods of the LNG bunkering ship ranged from 83.3% to 99.9% of the total observation period.

  • Recently, ship collision accidents account for $20%{\sim}34%$ of domestic marine accidents, also have increased continually. In this paper, therefore we propose the development of Ship Collision A voidance Support program for decreasing ship collision accidents. This program has been developed on the basis of CCAS-Model. A CCAS-Model has ship's maneuvering performance and has been studied for the propose of supporting to avoid ship collision in close quarters. Besides. the program will effectively support maneuvering for collision avoidance through display of the feasible area and the method of collision avoidance using own ship's turning characteristic about action of target ship's keeping course and velocity in various encounter.

고속선의 파랑중 조종성능

  • 본고에서는 고속선의 항행 안전성과 관련된 공통의 문제로서 파랑중 조종성능에 관해서 언급하 고자 한다. 파랑중 조종성능이 문제시되는 것은 선박이 추파(following seas) 또는 추사 파(quartering seas)를 받으면서 고속으로 항해할 때이다. 보통의 속도 범위에서 운항되는 일반 선박중에서도 컨테이너선, 어선 등과 같이 비교적 속력이 빠른 선박은 추사파중에서 선수 동 요가 크게 일어나며, 보침을 위한 조타량이 커짐과 동시에 힁동요가 심하게 일어나는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이러한 불안정 현상은 정도의 차이는 있을지언정 고속선에서도 마찬가지 경향을 보이고 있다. 파랑중 조종성능을 요약하면 추파 또는 추사파중에서의 복원성과 보침성 문제에 귀착된다, 추사파중에서의 복원성 문제는 선체 중심이 파정에 위치할 때 복원력 저하로써 설명될 수 있으며, 이러한 현상은 파장과 선체 길이가 거의 같고 선속이 파속과 거의 같은 조건하에서 일어난다고 알려져 있다. 이러한 조건을 만족하는 선속은 Froude수 0.4 정도로서 고속선의 운항 범위에 미달되는 속도이다. 추사파중에서의 보침성 문제는 브로칭(broaching-to) 현상으로써 설명될 수 있으며, 브로칭 현상은 파장이 선체 길이의 2배 정도이고, 선속과 파속이 거의 같은 조건하에서 일어난다고 알려져 있다. 이러한 조건을 만족하는 선속은 Froude수 0.56 정도로서 고속선의 운항 범위와 일치하는 속도이다. 따라서 본고에서는 고속선을 대상으로 하기 때문에 복원성 문제는 다루지 아니하고 브로칭 현상에 관해서만 간략히 기술하기로 한다.

  • 북극항로에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 안전항해를 위한 지원시스템의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 북극지역의 항해지원을 위한 선박 운항성능 추정 모델과 기상 예측 데이터, 빙상정보 예측모델의 결과를 데이터베이스화 하고 이를 바탕으로 북극항로에서의 최적 항해계획 서비스를 제공하기 위한 통신, 사용자 소프트웨어 시스템, 항로 추론을 위한 육상지원시스템을 구축방법을 제안하였다. 또한 제안된 방법을 토대로 선박에 설치하여 통신 및 추론항로 정보제공에 관한 시험을 진행하였다. 향후 북극 항로 항해안전 지원 시스템의 구축 및 원활한 항로 지원 서비스제공을 하는데 중요한 역할을 할 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Relationship between Ship Stability and Maneuverability Using Free Running Model Experiments (자유항주 모형실험에 의한 선박의 복원성능과 조종성능 관계 연구)

  • The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has issued international standards for ship maneuverability and stability. These have been established to improve marine safety and influence the direction of research. The previous literature has been researched, but there are few studies on the relationship between ship maneuverability and stability. This study carried out a fundamental experiment to quantitatively evaluate that relationship. Radius of turn and maximum heel angle depending on changing were analyzed through a turning test using a free running model ship. The test results show the change tendency of decreasing turn radius and increasng maximum heel angle according to a GM decrease. A rough estimate equation is proposed to predict the change tendency on radius of turn and angle of maximum heel as GM decreases. Many ships can suddenly experience reduced GM due to unexpected reasons during sailing. The results in this study can be used as fundamental data to estimate a ship's tactical turn diameter and variable heel angle for steering as GM decreases.

  • Since early times, captain have been sailing to select the optimum route considering the weather, ship loading status condition and operational scheduling empirically. However, it is rare to find digitalized onboard route support system whereas weather facsimile or wave and swell chart are utilized for the officer, based on captain's experience. In this paper, optimal route safety assessment system which is composed of voyage efficiency and safety component is introduced. Optimum route minimizea ETA(estimated time of arrival) and fuel consumption that shipping company and captain are requiring to evaluate for efficient voyage considering speed loss and power increase based on wave added resistance of ship. In the view point of safety, seakeeping prediction is performed based on 3 dimensional panel method. Finally, It is assistance measure for ship's optimum navigation route safety planning & assessment.
