  • This paper dealt with the development of surge protection devices (SPDs) that can protect high speed computer network devices from overvoltages caused by switching operations or lightning surges. The designed SPD is a form of hybrid circuit which is composed of a gas tube having large current diverting capability, high response bi-directional avalanche diodes, and fast recovery diodes to reduce insertion loss on high frequency domain. Surge protection and signal transmission characteristics of the fabricated SPD was tested according to the international standards, IEC 61000-4-5 and IEC 61643-21. From the test results, the SPD is satisfied with the international standards and the high cut-off frequency was 204 MHz. Also, the SPD showed a good performance without an insertion loss on a field test of 100 Mbps class Local Area Network.

  • Bibliographic metadata can help researchers effectively utilize essential publications that they need and grasp academic trends of their own fields. With the manual creation of the metadata costly and time-consuming. it is nontrivial to effectively automatize the metadata construction using rule-based methods due to the immoderate variety of the article forms and styles according to publishers and academic societies. Therefore, this study proposes a two-step extraction process based on rules and deep neural networks for generating bibliographic metadata of scientific articlles to overcome the difficulties above. The extraction target areas in articles were identified by using a deep neural network-based model, and then the details in the areas were analyzed and sub-divided into relevant metadata elements. IThe proposed model also includes a model for generating reference summary information, which is able to separate the end of the text and the starting point of a reference, and to extract individual references by essential rule set, and to identify all the bibliographic items in each reference by a deep neural network. In addition, in order to confirm the possibility of a model that generates the bibliographic information of academic papers without pre- and post-processing, we conducted an in-depth comparative experiment with various settings and configurations. As a result of the experiment, the method proposed in this paper showed higher performance.

  • BLAISE, a information communication system England, has been developed steadily and expanded a network to the European countries, which reflects recognition of library at national level. In Japan, NACSIS has been established by a financial support from Ministry of Education and very active in networking throughout the nation. The development policy of their countries. In this study it is introduced a new concept, bibliographical information network and also suggested that bibliographical information system in Korea should be developed by expansion of KOR-MARC database.

  • This study campares and analyzes the cataloging rules of the monographic publications included in the 4th edition of the Korean Cataloging Rules(KCR) & the 1st revision of the 3rd edition of the KCR. Especially it focuses on the different rules applied for the same specified areas, such as Title & Statement of Responsibility Area, Edition Area, Material Specific Details Area, Publication. Distribution, Etc., Area, etc. As a result, this analysis can be useful for cataloging monographic publications and so that the KCR4 will remain a viable standard for bibliographic description and access into the future.

  • Due to rapid internet supply and the increase of electronic resources including network resources, there has been a sudden change in cataloguing fields. To deal with rapid changes, IFLA revised cataloguing rules for electronic and continuing resources; ISBD(ER) and ISBD(CR). This study is to analyze activities of IFLA and ISBD(CR), expecially in regards with concepts of continuing resources, new categories of bibliographic materials, major or minor changes in title proper, basis of the description, material specific area, definition of a new terminologies, changes in AACR2R 2002 revision and MARC 21 coding, and issues concerned with revision of KCR 4 and KORMARC.

  • The Joint Steering Committee has been preparing for RDA that can be a new rule with revising AACR completely aimed at 2009. RDA can be used not only in traditional library catalogue, but in web-based environment as well. Furthermore it follows up the standard of international contents for the purpose of providing the bibliographic description and the access point of all media. This study investigates the establishing background, the features and the contents structure of RDA including famous scholars' comments.

  • The purpose of this study is to seek how to effectively acquire a full-text using LHI(Loca1 Holdings Information) when we search bibliographic DB. For this study, the pre-investigation of LHI within Online and CD-ROM DB was made using local and overseas literature. The questionary survey was made of librarians and users who have used CD-ROM. The finding of this study is that LHI is not very widely used in libraries, thus more study on ,LHI within Online and CD-ROM DB is required to get high quality information service.

  • Bibliographic Network has been a goal about not only to support resource sharing within libraries but also to pursue economic efficiency of cataloging. But nowadays, as resources in diverse media and format have been poured out, printed resources based union catalog should change to new resources finding system which include diverse type of resources. This study analyzes changing factors of bibliographic network and strategies for LC, NII, OCLC, NLA who try to turn over a new service. Finally basis on these findings, suggest task for Korean new generation bibliographic network service which is focused on introducing new collaborating model and developing new resource finding system.
