'도서관문화' 1994년에는 1년 치를 통틀어 보아도 이 단어는 없었다. 그러나 2004년 현재는 1쪽에만도 수 십 개가 보인다. 그 단어는 바로 '디지털'이다. 바로 그 디지털 붐이 일기 시작하던 당시 LG상남도서관은 국내 최초의 디지털도서관으로 이용자뿐만 아니라 국내 도서관계의 주목을 받았다. 그러나 LG상남도서관의 핵심서비스인 원문전송은 2000년 저작권법 개정으로 중단되었다. 그렇다면 그 이후 도서관은 어떤 방식으로 운영되고 있을까, 그 궁금증을 풀기 위해 이번 달에는 LG상남도서관을 찾아가 보았다.

Community colleges are key constituents of higher education in Korea, along with four-year universities. The number of community colleges in Korea also holds significance. However, the main focus of the Master Plan for Library Development decisively lies in university libraries, with little consideration to the poor condition of community college libraries. This study aims to identify problems of community college libraries by conducting a document research on their current standing and, based on that, to present six policy proposals for government support. They are a) to develop library collections based on the school specialty, b) to build theme-oriented libraries, c) to facilitate cooperation between community college libraries, d) to reinforce capacities for library service, e) to improve legal status of community college libraries and develop an evaluation index, f) and to estimate demand and evaluate service quality.

The objective of this study is to analyse the current status and problems of the junior college libraries in Korea which is being placed in the inferior environment relatively and to present the improvement program against hereupon. The concept and an objective of the junior colleges were examined, the problems against an external environment through various statistics of their academic libraries were also presented. The instance academic libraries based on their number of book collection in the city of Taegu area were selected to prepare the improvement program. Information service instance which hits to the junior colleges were collected through analysing the web site of the corresponding library, and the depth interview to the corresponding junior college librarians was also executed.

In this study, we investigated the characteristics of rodent (mainly ground squirrel) burrows found near the Lake Hovsgol, Mongolia. Those burrows are straight to slightly curved and gently inclined in lateral view. Cross-sectional shapes are either circular or elliptical with diameters ranging from mostly 8-10 cm. Most abandoned burrows are passively filled with soils and/or pebbles. The size and architecture of these Mongolian burrows are remarkably similar to those of the previously reported Late Pleistocene burrows from Korea. Therefore, the rodent burrows found at Korean Palaeolithic sites are thought to have been formed by ground squirrels. However, the difference in burrow-fills suggests that the mean annual precipitation of the Korean Peninsula during the Late Pleistocene is much higher than that of Mongolia.

For a public library. which is a regional information service agency. to acquire high competitiveness, preparation for uncertainties of future through understanding its own internal strengths and weaknesses. and external opportunities and threats based on assessments regarding knowledge information environment and characteristics of regional community. current status of the library, etc. Therefore. in this study, through SWOT analysis. one of competitive strategy analysis methods, the status of competitive strategy of C library was analyzed. In order to carry out the study interview and survey were performed with professional librarians, then through final consultations from management consulting experts, a plan to strengthen competitiveness for C library was devised. Conclusions from this study were as below. In order to strengthen competitiveness of C library offering distinguished high quality services through active cooperations with external institutions, efforts to improve library's position and stand following being selected as a library to visit for 2006 World Library and Information Congress, and revitalization of library usage through providing user oriented differentiated services are needed.

This paper examines the characteristic records management activities and meanings of the regional council of the Gunma Prefectural Archives and the Tottori Prefectural Archives. Gunma Prefectural Archives and the Tottori Prefectural Archives have established a cooperation system between the municipalities and the municipalities and have promoted the establishment of the regional archives and developed various methodologies to improve the records management. This case study of the Japanese local archives will provide insights on the direction of the archives of the Korean local archives in the new transition period and the work design, especially the 'cooperation and cooperation' program with the local government.

This study is aimed to investigate and analyze the general perception of users on library collections and services of junior college libraries, including the use frequency, weight, use purposes, and unsatisfactory factors. In order to carry this purpose, the researcher investigated the perception of 700 students in S-women's college, analyzed the factors of use satisfaction and dissatisfaction by grades and major categories and suggested some alternative improvements.

최근 몇 년간 '병영도서관'에 대한 이야기가 우리 도서관계에서 자주 등장한다. 확실히 관련 법령 개정(도서관및독서진흥법 제37조의2 ④국방부장관은 병영도서관의 설치 및 운영에 필요한 예산의 확보 등을 통하여 장병등의 문화활동 등이 장려될 수 있도록 노력하여야 한다.) 이후 정부나 시민단체들의 병영도서관 건립 움직임이 탄력을 받고있는 듯하다. 아직은 초기 단계이지만 관심을 놓아서는 안되는 분야일 것이다. 이번에 찾아간 곳은 수방사헌병단도서관으로 (사)사랑의책나누기운동본부의 병영도서관 만들기 운동의 31번째 결실이 맺어진 곳이다. 엄밀히 말하면 이번 탐방은 도서관 '개관식' 탐방이다. 군의 특성상 아무래도 병영도서관 방문이 생각만큼 자유스럽지는 않다. 이번 호에서는 개관식 탐방으로 만족하고 앞으로 꾸준히 기회를 만들어 다양한 사례를 소개하고자 한다.
