  • The purpose of this study is to analyze and verify the effect of multicultural adolescents parental support and parenting attitudes on school life and social competency by using the primary data of the second period of the MAPS(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study). The subject of this study in 2019 was 2,246 multicultural adolescents who were in the fourth grade of elementary school at the time. As a result of the study, it was found that the more positive and positive parental support and parenting attitude were, the higher the degree of school life and social competence of multicultural adolescents. On the other hand, the degree of school life and social competence varies according to gender, and it was found that female students were higher than male students. There was a significant difference in the degree of school life according to the mother's educational background, but there was no significant difference in the degree of social competence. These results suggest that parental support and parenting attitudes are major environmental variables in the educational ecosystem that affect the school life and social competence of multicultural adolescents.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the daily life of the residents in Jjok-bang. To achieve this purpose, I conducted an ethnographic approach. I contacted the residents in Jjok-bang, collected data from an in-depth interview, participative observation, documents, and analysed data by an ethnographic approach. In research findings, I presented four dimensions of the daily life: subject, place, time, way of life. Subjects were categorized as 'I', 'We', and 'They'. I investigated the residents' places that were categorized as three places such as Jjok-bang, a Jjok-bang region, and a Jjok-bang service center. I identified the residents' experiences in time of the past, the present, and the future. In addition, I gained a deep understanding of their way of life which was divided to survival, living, and life. Based on the results, I offer suggestions for policy, administration, practice, and further researches.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of parent's support on the school adaptation of immigrant adolescents to school life, the mediating effect of self-esteem, and the moderating effect of cultural adaptation stress. The data used for the analysis were the second panel data (2020) among the multicultural youth panel survey data. As for the data analysis method, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, PROCESS MACRO Model Number 4 and PROCESS MACRO Model Number 1 analysis were performed. As a result of the analysis, first, parental support showed a positive (+) effect on school life adaptation. Second, in the relationship between parent's support and school adaptation, self-esteem had a statistically significant indirect effect. Third, it was found that cultural adaptation stress had no moderating effect in the relationship between parent's support and school adaptation. Based on these results, policy and practical suggestions for improving the school adaptation of immigrant adolescents to school life were presented.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the context of cosumers' lives in Korea with a narrative analysis method. The epistemological orientation of eh narrative analysis is Interpretivism, which blends the two polar philosophical perspectives, Empiricism and Rationalism, and includes Narrotology, Hermeneneutics, Semiotics, and Structural Criticism. Narrative analysis takes as its object of investigation the story itself. This study collects eleven narrative plots from four housewives, into which Labov's structural approach is applied. This study shows clearly that the socio-cultural environment in which consumers live has strong influence on their consumption behavior and also reveals that narrativization tells not only about past actions but how individuals understand those actions, that is, meaning.
