Occupational Injuries in Korea : A Comparison of Blue-Collar and White-Collar Worker's Rates and Underreporting (특집 - 제2회 산업보건학술제 수상 논문 - 한국의 산업재해 : 사무직과 생산직 근로자의 손상률 비교와 낮은 산재 보고율 -)

  • $\bullet$ 목적 본 연구는 한국의 생산직 근로자와 사무직 근로자의 직업성 손상 및 질환의 차이를 비교하고 산재보고 축소(underreporting)의 규모를 추정하고자 수행되었다. $\bullet$ 방법 한국의 경인지역에서 구축된 근로자 건강진단 수진자 코호트와 1999-2001년 사이에 재직 중이었던 근로자의 건강보험 청구자료를 이용하였다. 근로자의 직무내용과 건강진단의 종류(특수건강진단 및 일반건강진단)로 사무직과 생산직 근로자로 구분하였으며, 이들 사이의 근골격계질환과 손상 및 중독에 해당하는 건강보험 이용률의 차이를 신고되지 않은 산재로 추정하였다. 이를 바탕으로 도수율, 산재발생률 및 재해율을 계산하였다. $\bullet$ 결과 생산직 근로자는 사무직 근로자보다 100 인년 당 3.47건 더 높은 건강보험이용률을 보였다. 이를 토대로 추정한 한국의 도수율은 12.57-18.1, 재해율은 2.74-3.29, 산재발생률은 3.62-5.44이었다. $\bullet$ 결론 한국 제조업의 산재발생률은 공식적인 통계보다 2-3배 더 높을 것으로 추정되지만, 연구의 제한점을 고려하여 이해할 필요가 있다.

The Effects of Overtime Work on Health-Related Quality of Life of Korean Blue-Collar Workers (한국 생산직 근로자의 초과근무 여부가 건강관련 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigated the effects of overtime work on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of Korean blue-collar workers. This cross-sectional study collected data on 229 Korean blue-collar workers in six small-sized companies from October to November 2015. The data were analyzed using hierarchical multiple regression analysis to estimate the effect of overtime work while considering convergence variables. In the hierarchical regression model, when overtime work variable was included in the model, $R^2$ change was statistically significant. The significant predictors for HRQoL were overtime work (${\beta}=.152$, p=.025), depression (${\beta}=-.192$, p=.003) and night shift work (${\beta}=-.201$, p=.032). The results of this study provide a basic data for establishing optimal working hours standards for improving the quality of life of Korean blue-collar workers.

Differences of Screening Test Results of Health Examination between Clerks and Laborers (일부 사무직 근로자와 생산직 근로자간의 일반건강진단 검사 결과의 차이)

  • The authors conducted a cross-setional study to evaluate the differences of screening test results between clerks and laborers in an occupational health center in Taegu, 1992. A total of 10, 207 workers was included in the study. Of these, male were 6,597 and female 3,610. Constitutional variables included were items of health examination and some confounding variables(sex, age, body weight and work duration). All analyses were conducted separately for each sex through the use of multiple logistic regression analysis on occupation, controlling for age, work duration, and body weight. Laborers showed abnormal hearing test more often than clerks in both sexes. The blood pressure that showed statistical significance in univariate analysis in both sexes lost its significance after controlling covariates. Liver function and urine protein had statistically significant differences between two occupational groups in males and visual correction did in females. The results suggest that there are differences clerks and laborers in some of screening tests and analytic studies are needed to identify the causes of the differences.

A study on Food Preference of Workers for Meal Served by Industry Foodservice (산업체 급식에 대한 근로자들의 기호도 조사 연구)

  • This study was performed to investigate the information of food preference of workers for meal served by industry foodservice. The subjects were composed of 212 office workers and 220 laborers. The results were obtained as follows : 50.7% of the subjects were 30∼39 years old ; 72.0% of them had high school education ; the type of favored food was Korean style cooked rice ; food taste was the most important point in food selection. Preference form main foods : Cooked rice was preferred the most by the subjects. Both office workers and laborers liked Kalkooksoo and vegetable bread and cooked rice covered with beef was preferred by office workers and cooked rice covered with raw fish pieces was preferred by laborers. Also they disliked Hash rice, Curry rice and rice-cake soup in the pattern. Preference for side-dish : The Acceptances for side-dishes were high in soybean paste soup(office workers : 37.5%, laborers : 31.5%), hot chowder of corvina(26.1%, 25.7%), kimchi stew(30.5%, 28.8%), beef broiled in soy(32.5%, 30.5%), baked fish(32.5%, 31.9%), pachon(20.7%, 25.9%), a meat inside a razor clam(25.1$, 29.2%) and Chinese cabbage kimchi(44.5%, 46.3%), in that order by both of them. But in office workers, seasoned bean sprouts and steamed beef-rib were shown to have high preference and in laborers seasoned spinach and steamed pork-rib were high. Preference of snacks : The preferences for snacks were high in milk(office workers : 50.3%, laborers : 48.5%), Songpean(28.9%, 30.1%), coffee(30.8%, 32.5%), Sikhye(18.8%, 17.5%), in that order by two groups.

  • Proficiency-centered manufacturing environment of the past is now expanding into that focused on expertise and knowledge. So the paradigm shift about human resources and management of them is required to maintain competitiveness and run the organization in a stable way. Many studies have shown that in various fields job competence has a positive influence on job satisfaction, but researchers' point of view is limited only to proficiency. With a focus on this situation, this study has analyzed empirically the effect of job knowledge and proficiency on a turnover intention and its mediating effect of job satisfaction in S company whose manufacturing environment is changing fast. The analysis has shown that the job knowledge and proficiency have a positive effect on job satisfaction and that job satisfaction influences a turnover intention. It has an important meaning in that by estimating the relationship between employees' job knowledge and their turnover intention, this study is providing a basic data needed to manage job competence of manufacturing labor force.

Cardiovascular Disease According to Job Type and Life Style (근로 형태와 생활습관에 따른 심혈관계 질환 차이)

  • We obtained medical test data of 150 male from National Health Insurance Corporation, that included physique, blood chemistry, and lifestyle. ${\chi}^2-test$ and logistic regression, and multiple regression were done to verify how CAD risks and/or lifestyle are different between obese and non-obese person. SPSS(version 18) was used for statistical procedures and p-value of .05 was regarded as good through. ${\chi}^2-test$ showed the frequency of hypertension, htperglycemia, hyperlipidemia were higher in obese person than in non-obese This result told us that lifestyle modification could be a key to prevent cardiovascular disease by controlling and managing body composition, especially abdominal obesity.

Related factors on musculoskeletal symptoms in selected Korean female office and blue-collar workers (우리나라 일부 사무직과 생산직 여성근로자에서 근골격계 자각증상과 관련요인)

  • Objectives : To investigate the related factors on musculoskeletal symptoms among Korean female workers. Methods : A total of 1,875 female workers (1,002 office workers and 873 blue-collar workers) was analyzed. They were randomly selected among female workers by cluster sampling and interviewed by well trained interviewer, who filled out a structured questionnaire on the musculoskeletal symptoms. Other factors such as general and occupational characteristics including workplace location, employment condition, work duration, and working condition were also investigated. Results : Current smokers and drinkers were significantly more common in blue-collar workers than in office workers. Those working full time were significantly more common in blue-collar workers than in office workers. Those working over 8 hours per day were also popular in office workers than in blue-collar workers. Subjective musculoskeletal symptoms were significantly higher in the type of work including excessive repetitive work, work using awkward stretching hand upwards, work using repetitive wrist movements, static work using awkward hand posture, and heavy manual lifting and handling works. The mean score of the symptoms were significantly higher in blue-collar than in office workers. The significantly different working factors between two groups were work duration, employment condition and daily work hours. Conclusion : We suggest that the type of work including awkward and repetitive works as well as job type may be one of the most important factors related to musculoskeletal symptoms of female workers in the workplace. Preventive strategy will be needed to prevent the negative impact on health status of working women in the workplace.

포커스 - 중소제조업 생산직 근로자 직종별노임

  • 2013년 9월 기준으로 현재 20~299인이 종사하는 1200개 중소제조업 생산직 근로자의 직종별 노임(일급)을 조사한 결과 오프셋 인쇄공의 평균 일금은 8만6204원인 것으로 나타났다. 또한 전체 조사직종(139개)의 평균 조사노임(일급)은 6만9423원으로 전년의 만6122원보다 5.0% 상승했다. 중소기업중앙회(회장 김기문)는 최근 국가를 당사자로 하는 계약시 제조원가계산의 기준이 되는 노무비 산정의 기초자료 제공을 위한 '2013년도 중소제조업 직종별 임금조사결과'를 발표했다. 이번 조사는 중소제조업 1200개 업체(종사자 20~299인)를 대상으로 진행됐으며, 발표된 조사노임(일급)은 2014년 1월 1일부터 적용된다.
