An experimental study on the evaluation of discharge capacity for vertical plastic drain board (연직배수재의 통수능력평가를 위한 실험적 연구)

  • Recently, the demand for industrial and residental land are increasing with economic growth, but it is difficult to obtain the area for development with good ground condition. Various kinds of vertical drain technologies such as sand drain, sand compaction pile, packed drain, PVD are commercially available to improve the soft ground. Discharge capacity is the important factor of vertical drains. However, under field conditions, discharge capacity is changed with various reasons, such as soil condition, overburden pressure, and so on. In this paper, the experimental study was carried out to estimate the discharge capacity of four different types of PBD, PBD for double core PBD, deep type PBD, X type PBD, general type PBD. Characteristics of the discharge capacity for the surcharge load and hydraulic gradient were analysed. The double core PBD was excellent for discharge capacity in this study.

Numerical Analysis on Consolidation of Soft Clay by Sand Drain with Heat Injection (수치해석을 통한 샌드드레인과 열주입에 의한 연약지반의 압밀 해석)

  • Temperature change affects consolidation behavior of soft clays. The increase of temperature in soft clays induces the increase of pore water pressure. The dissipation of the excess pore water pressure decreases volume and void ratio. Also, the consolidation rate is accelerated by high temperature which induces the decrease of viscosity of pore fluid. The effects of temperature on the consolidation behavior such as consolidation settlement, consolidation time, and pore water pressure were investigated in this study. A numerical analysis of hydro-mechanical (HM) and thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) behavior was performed. The combination of heat injection and sand drain for consolidating the soft ground, with varying temperature (40 and $60^{\circ}C$) and sand drain diameter (40, 60, and 80 mm), was considered. The results show that the temperature inside soil specimen increases with the increase of the temperature of heating source and the diameter of sand drain. Moreover, the heat injection increases the excess pore water pressure and, accordingly, induces additional settlement in overconsolidated (OC) state and reduces the consolidation time in normally consolidated (NC) state.

  • 본 논문은 기존의 샌드 드레인 시공장비의 베이스 머신인 기중기 대신에 포크레인을 이용하여 샌드 드레인 시공 장비를 개발 하였다. 그리고 세부적인 기술 개발 사항으로 전기적 타설의 방식에서 유압 타설을 통한 작업 효율 연비 향상과 구조해석을 통한 장비의 무게의 경량화를 이루었다. 그리고 리더의 각도 조절을 통하여 작업의 향상을 도모 할 수 있는 각도 조절 장치와 타설 작업의 자동 모니터링과 제어를 할 수 있는 자동제어 시스템을 개발 하였다.

An Experimental Study on the Applicability of Precious Slag Ball as Vertical Drains (풍쇄전로슬래그의 연직배수재 활용성에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • To investigate the applicability of Precious Slag Ball as the alternative material such as vertical drains, it is necessary to check the drainage effect of it in the field construction. In order to attain an successful design it is important to predict problems encountered in field construction. Accordingly, in this study the laboratory tests were executed under different conditions before applying of the field. 4 cases including Precious Slag Ball, sand+Precious Slag Ball, pack Precious Slag Ball and sand as vertical drains were conducted, and under the base of the laboratory tests the field test was executed and analyzed. By the upper results it is apposite to use Precious Slag Ball as vertical drains.

  • This study aims at predicting the behavior of saturated soft clayey foundation subjected to earth structure loads such as tidal dike, embankment etc. by using Biot's consolidation equation coupled with elasto-viscoplastic constitutive model. To validate the computer program developed b author, a case study was performed for the site of Kwang-yang steel works improved by sand drain, where since the beginning of the works, field measurements(settlement, lateral displacement and excess pore water pressure) had been accurately achieved. Comparisons between numerical results and observation values were carried out. The main results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. Settlement and lateral displacement between numerical and observation values show satisfactory accordance. 2. As for the exess pre water pressure, numerical results appear to be larger than observation values, which may be due to the existence of sand seams which were not found during soil investigation. 3. Useful data available for failure prediction of soft foundation can be secured by examining lateral displacement, settlement, exess pore water pressure and stress paths.

광물재료를 이용한 연약지반 점토의 고화안정처리 실험

  • 다량의 점토 퇴적물로 구성된 연약지반은 대단히 큰 압축성과 낮은 강도, 높은 함수량등의 물리·역학적 특성을 갖는다. 이러한 기초지반으로서의 불리한 특성 때문에 이를 대상으로 하는 각종 토목건설공사에서는 지반개량이나 안정처리가 반드시 선행되어야 할 과제이다. 이를 위해 종래에는 샌드드레인, 페이퍼드레인 등의 물리적인 공법에 의한 지반개량이 주류를 이루었으나, 최근에는 생석회나 시멘트계 고화재를 이용한 화학적 안정 처리공법이 크게 주목을 받고 있어 이에 대한 연구가 활발한 상황이다. 본 연구는 연약 지반 안정처리에 대한 방안을 모색하기 위하여 김해 지역에 분포하는 점토 퇴적물을 대상으로 각종 광물재료를 이용한 반응실험을 통하여 반응생성물 조사와 압축강도시험 등을 행하여 그 결과를 검토하였다. 우선 연약지반의 고화에 이용 가능한 생석회, 석고, 플라이에쉬, 고분자폴리머, 시멘트 등을 사용하여 점토와 혼합한 고화실험을 행하였으며, 이에 대한 물성 및 반응생성물을 검토하였다. 이러한 각 재료를 점토에 혼합한 후 PVC관에 모울딩하여 양생시켜 실험하였다. 그 결과, 석고 및 소석회에 비하여 생석회의 경우가 비교적 큰 압축강도를 나타내고, 균열발생 빈도도 낮았다. 생석회의 경우에 Gehlenite, Hillebrandite 등의 생성물질이 검출되었다. 그러나 포틀란트 시멘트와 혼합한 경우가 강도가 가장 크게 나타났다. 반면에 고분자폴리머만 사용한 경우는 강도가 매우 낮았다. 따라서 시멘트를 일정 비율로 배합한 다른 재료를 첨가한 실험을 행하여 그 물성을 검토하였다 물질의 화학적인 특성을 고려하여 포졸란반응이 잘 일어날 수 있을 것으로 생각되는 여러 재료를 선정하여 많은 조합에 대한 실험을 행하였다. 생석회, 석고, 고령토, 규조토, 제올라이트 등의 여러 재료를 여러 조합으로 첨가하여 실험한 결과, 시멘트와 석고를 혼합한 것이 비교적으로 높은 압축강도를 나타내었다. 그리고 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 연약점도의 고화에 최적인 조합과 배합비를 위한 실험을 재차 실시하였으며, 실험 후의 물성과 함께 반응생성물에 대한 검토도 행하여 그 결과를 발표하고자 한다.

Characteristics of Behavior of Brain Board - driven Clay Layers by Vacuum Loading (진공하중에 의한 Drain Board 타입 점토지반의 거동 특성)

  • Paper drain method is one of the methods used for the improvement of soft clay as hydraulic fill sites or the seaside industrial complex. This method adopts a card board as the drain materials instead of sand piles in sand drain method. In this paper 3 types of drain board are used to fond out the characteristics of consolidation by vacuum consolidation model test. So does the no drain board test. This test causes the reduction of pore water pressure to promote the settlement without change of ground water level. Conclusively, the vacuum consolidation shows 3-dimensional behaviors and pore water pressure reaches a negative value in a short time. In addition, it is expected to have a comparatively good consolidation effect using non -woven board, and vacuum loading results in increasing the shear strength at the bottom and top of call layers.

  • Mechanical behavior of composition pound improved by sand compaction pile (SCP) with low replacement area ratio could be more significantly affected by mechanical interaction between sand piles and clays than that of clay ground improved by SD or SCP with high replacement area ratio. It is essential to elucidate the mechanical interaction in the improved clay ground, in order to accurately estimate behavior in reducing settlement of the improved ground and increasing strength of clays. In this paper, through a series of model tests of composition ground improved by SCP with low replacement area ratio, each mechanical behaviors of sand piles and clays in the composition ground during consolidation was elucidated, together with stress sharing behavior between sand piles and clays.

Study on Determining Consolidation Parameters of Soft Clay Ground improved by Sand Pile (모래말뚝이 타설된 연약점토지반의 압밀정수결정에 관한 연구)

  • Sand pile method, such as sand drain method and sand compaction pile method, has been popularly used as an improved method for soft clay grounds. The effect of accelerating consolidation of soft clay grounds has been evaluated with Barren's solution. The consolidation behavior of soft clay ground with sand piles strongly depends on both the nonlinear mechanical interaction between sand piles and surrounding clays and the degradation permeability of clays. In this paper a method of determining consolidation parameters of soft clay ground with sand drains by using Barren's solution was proposed through a series of numerical simulations. Through the method, the change in both volume compressibility and permeability during consolidation was reasonably evaluated.
