Tag Trajectory Generation Scheme for RFID Tag Tracing in Ubiquitous Computing (유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅에서 RFID 태그 추적을 위한 태그 궤적 생성 기법)

  • One of major purposes of a RFID system is to track moving objects using tags attached to the objects. Because a tagged object has both location and time information expressed as the location of the reader, we can index the trajectory of the object like existing spatiotemporal objects. More efficient tracking may be possible if a spatiotemporal trajectory can be formed of a tag, but there has not been much research on tag trajectory indexes. A characteristic that distinguishes tags from existing spatiotemporal objects is that a tag creates a separate trajectory in each reader by entering and then leaving the reader. As a result, there is a trajectory interruption interval between readers, in which the tag cannot be located, and this makes it difficult to track the tag. In addition, the point tags that only enter and don't leave readers do not create trajectories, so cannot be tracked. To solve this problem, we propose a tag trajectory index called TR-tree (tag trajectory R-tree in RFID system) that can track a tag by combining separate trajectories among readers into one trajectory. The results show that TR-tree, which overcomes the trajectory interruption superior performance than TPIR-tree and R-tree.

  • Infarction of the lung usually results from pulmonary arterial obstruction. Pulmonary infarcts often become infected from bronchial contamination and may become lung abscesses, empyema, or bronchopleural fistula causing sepsis. Diagnosis is important for intensive therapy, since infection is prone to spread. Resection of the infarcted lung should be considered early in an attempt to control infection. A sixty-seven-year-old man was hospitalized with dyspnea. A computed tomographic scan of the chest showed left lower lobe infiltration and mild pleural effusion with pleural thickening. There was a thrombus in the left pulmonary artery leading from the lower lobe to the upper lobe artery. At operation, the left lower lobe was found to have complete hemorrhagic infarction. The left lower lobectomy was performed. The remaining thrombus was removed after the left main pulmonary arteriotomy. He has been followed up for 15 months and has done well with no recurrence of thrombus and infarction of the lung.

  • Various researches on moving object modeling, uncertainty processing, and moving object indexing have been tarried out in the field of moving object databases. However. previous location tracking systems cannot efficiently retrieve location data of vehicles, because they manage all location information of vehicles using the conventional database. In this paper, we design the vehicle location management systen that is able to manage and retrieve vehicle locations efficiently in mobile environment. The proposed system consists of a server for managing vehicle locations and mobile clients. The system is able to not only process spatiotemporal queries related to locations of moving vehicles but also Provide moving vehicles' locations which are not stored in the system. The system is also able to manage vehicle location data effectively using a moving object index.

Risk Factors of Recurrent Hemoptysis after Bronchial Artery Embolization (기관지동맥 색전술 후 객혈의 재발에 관한 연구)

  • Background : Hemoptysis, when massive and untreated, has a mortality rate of over 50 percents, is considered as one of most dreaded of all respiratory emergencies and can have a variety of underlying causes. Bronchial artery embolization (BAE) has become an established procedure in the management of massive and recurrent hemoptysis, and its efficacy is widely documented thereafter by number of articles. However, the long-term success rate of BAE is known to be unfavorable. Risk factors influencing that control failure are inevitably needed. Materials and methods : Seventy-five patients underwent bronchial artery embolization due to massive hemoptysis in Severance Hospital from Jan. 2000 to Jan. 2005. Nine patients' data were not available and could not be contacted with. Finally 66 patients' (48 males, 18 females) medical records were analyzed retrospectively during a mean follow up period of 20.4 months (ranging from 1 month to 54 months). Results : Among 66 patients whose data were available, 23(34.9%) patients had recurrent major hemoptysis. Patients' age, sex, underlying disease, previous intervention history, and number of feeding vessels had no statistical validity as risk factors of recurred major hemoptysis. But bilaterality of lesion, amount of hemoptysis, and pleural thickening were revealed as meaningful factors for predicting relapse (p = 0.008, 0.018, and 0.001, respectively). Conclusion : According to our series, patients presenting with larger amount of hemoptysis, pleural thickening of chest radiography and bilateral lesion are associated with increased risk of major hemoptysis in patients treated with BAE.

The Effect of Smooth Pursuit Eye Movement Using Portable Device to Chronic Hemispatial Neglect: A Pilot Study (휴대용 디바이스를 이용한 완곡추적 안구운동이 만성 편측무시에 미치는 영향: 예비연구)

  • Objective : This study aim is to identify whether smooth pursuit eye movement(SPEM) using portable device can alleviate chronic hemispatial neglect. Methods : We applied smooth pursuit eye movement to one chronic hemispatial neglect patient. Experimental duration was total 4weeks - 1week baseline, 2weeks SPEM intervention, 1week 2nd. baseline. The intervention was 10 SPEM sessions (30min each, 1session daily, from Monday to Friday) over a period of 2weeks. The neglect test carried out 5 times a week. The SPEM was provided on the screen when patient sat in front of the screen(8.4 inch tablet pc, distance 40cm). The SPEM video that the 24 yellow squares moving coherently from the right to the left side. Patients were instructed to perform smooth pursuit eye movement without head and neck movement. Results : As a result of the SPEM for 2weeks, the degree of neglect tended to decrease compared to baseline A. The degree of the LBT tended to increase the at the baseline A'. In contrast, the SCT showed that tendency which the degree of the neglect maintained at the baseline A'. Conclusion : We identified that SPEM using portable device is effective intervention method for chronic hemispatial neglect.

Inspection System using CIELAB Color Space for the PCB Ball Pad with OSP Surface Finish (OSP 표면처리된 PCB 볼 패드용 CIELAB 색좌표 기반 검사 시스템)

  • We demonstrated an inspection system for detecting discoloration of PCB Cu ball pad with an OSP surface finish. Though the OSP surface finish has many advantages such as eco-friendly and low cost, however, it often shows a discoloration phenomenon due to a heating process. In this study, the discoloration was analyzed with device-independent CIELAB color space. First of all, the PCB samples were inspected with standard lamps and CCD camera. The measured data was processed with Labview program for detecting discoloration of Cu ball pad. From the original PCB sample image, the localized Cu ball pad image was selected to reduce the image size by the binarization and edge detection processes and it was also converted to device-independent CIELAB color space using $3{\times}3$ conversion matrix. Both acquisition time and false acceptance rate were significantly reduced with this proposed inspection system. In addition, $L^*$ and $b^*$ values of CIELAB color space were suitable for inspection of discoloration of Cu ball pad.

Treatment of giant iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm of the femoral artery (대퇴동맥에 발생한 의인성 거대 가성동맥류에 대한 치료)

  • The role of angioembolization has increased because of increases in nonoperative treatment for traumatic splenic injury. We report here a case of successful treatment of iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm of the femoral artery by thrombin injection with coil embolization. A 55-year-old female was admitted to our hospital because of blunt trauma. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a grade V splenic injury with contrast extravasation; therefore, angioembolization was performed. Three days after admission, follow-up CT scan revealed rebleeding from the spleen, and repeat angioembolization was performed. Seven days after admission, an approximately $7.0cm{\times}4.0cm-sized$ pseudoaneurysm was found on follow-up CT scan and there was no bleeding from the spleen. Although thrombin was injected into the aneurysmal sac, there was still inflow of blood, as observed on color-doppler ultrasound. Therefore, coil embolization to the neck of the aneurysm was performed. On angiography, there was no contrast filling into the sac. The size of the pseudoaneurysmal sac had decreased on follow-up CT scan, and the patient was discharged to home without complications. We successfully treated a giant pseudoaneurysm of the femoral artery using thrombin and coil embolization.

  • 본 논문은 머리카락을 포함한 얼굴 영역 추출에 관한 것으로서, 보다 구체적으로는 조명변화에도 강인 한 얼굴영역 추출방법과 다양한 머리카락의 모양과 색의 변화에도 신뢰성 있는 머리카락 추출 방법에 관한 것이다. 일반적으로 얼굴영상은 개인의 특징을 잘 표현할 수 있는 정보로써, 영상에서 얼굴 영역을 추출하여 이를 실제 얼굴영상정보를 이용한 얼굴인식, 관상정보 서비스를 위한 전처리, 기반기술을 제공하고, 실사 캐릭터 제작에도 바로 적용될 수 있다. 기존의 템플리트 매칭, 곡선추적 알고리즘 등과의 같은 추출방법에서는 얼굴크기 변화, 안경 및 장신구의 착용 여부 그리고 조명의 변화에 따라 얼굴영역 추출하는 처리속도가 많이 걸리고, 성능이 크게 저하되는 문제점이 있다. 상기한 바와 같이 종래의 문제점을 개선하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 얼굴의 크기변화, 안경 및 장신구의 착용 여부 그리고 조명의 변화에서도 얼굴 영역을 잘 추출 할 있는 방법과 다양한 머리카락의 색, 형태 변화에도 신뢰성 있는 머리카락 추출방법을 제안하였다.

Surveillance Video Retrieval based on Object Motion Trajectory (물체의 움직임 궤적에 기반한 감시 비디오의 검색)

  • In this paper, we propose a new method of indexing and searching based on object-specific features at different semantic levels for video retrieval. A moving trajectory model is used as an indexing key for accessing the individual object in the semantic level. By tracking individual objects with segmented data, we can generate motion trajectories and set model parameters using polynomial curve fitting. The proposed searching scheme supports various types of queries including query by example, query by sketch, and query on weighting parameters for event-based video retrieval. When retrieving the interested video clip, the system returns the best matching event in the similarity order.

  • Intracranial dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) is an abnormal arteriovenous shunt accounting for approximately 10%-15% of all intracranial vascular malformations. Most intracranial DAVFs are solitary, but multiple lesions at different sites can rarely occur. Most intracranial multiple DAVFs are synchronous types, whereas metachronous lesions are relatively uncommon. Herein, we report a rare case of metachronous DAVF occurring after the embolization of a preceding lesion in a 75-year-old female.
